By looking at this, you can clearly see Fred Gwynne was overworked, and the rest of the cast did not get as equal a workload. The Season 2 DVD packaging confirms this, because of the way Universal only put Herman on the front of the box.

"Starring Fred Gwynne as Herman" - that could've had something to do with it lol.

Even if he was the main character, he was very much overworked.

If you see any photos of him after the show was cancelled, he is extremely thin.

How about episode titles where they share the workload.

Saying an actor does more or less work because his character's name appears in more episode titles of a series never really occurred to me before.

Maybe "workload" is not exactly the word I'm looking for. I'd say, it's more like too much "favoritsm" towards Herman. I mean, you do have 4 other main characters, and a variety of pets, they could have given Fred a break from time to time.
