View Full Version : Sitcoms Online Top 50 List

This is for events and people of Sitcoms Online that should be recognized. They are not in any order. Feel free to add some, since I didn't come close to a hundred.

1. TJ Creating Sitcoms Online - None of us would be here if not for him. It's a great place to come to and we all owe thanks to TJ.

2. Pavanbadal - He's the man with all the info. The only person here that I trust when it comes to news.

3. The Death of John Ritter - That tragic moment when John Ritter passed away was a BIG deal here at the message board. I remember almost every post was about the late Ritter. I knew I could come here and grieve with everyone and that was special to me.

4. Wings Comes to Nick at Nite - It may have bombed in the ratings, but when N@N brought the "Modern TV Classic" to their network it affected the "Wings" board. It had regular posters already, but many more joined. Everyone on the "Wings" board is nice. And when the show was treated badly, it was nice to have a place to come to and rant about my hatred for N@N.

5. Janice's Birthday Threads - When it's you birthday, chances are Janice has made you your own thread, wishing you a happy birthday. Others do it too, but it's Janice's that I remember and I think she's the one that does it the most.

6. The Ladies at the "Chico and the Man" Board - Those are women with a passion for the late Freddie Prinze. I've visited the boards, but I feel almost out of place, because I'm not in love with Freddie Prinze. They have made it one of the most visted boards and they all get along. It's a great board!

7. TJL's Use of ";)" - Sure, we all use that, but it seems to be TJL's trademark. That and a picture of Hawkeye Pierce. Everytime I use ";)", I think of TJL.

8. Solomon's Debate Over "Good Times" Not Being a Spin-Off of "Maude" - It seemed so silly when he first mentioned it. However, now, I'm close to believing him. It's a topic I almost always read. It's a topic that's memorable. Whenever I hear anyone say "Good Times" is a spin-off of "Maude" I hear Solomon in my head saying "No it's not!".

9. Blondie44's Fan Fiction - I'm not a big fan of fan fiction, but whenever I go over there, I notice many stories done by Blondie44.

10. The Announcement of Your Favorite Show Coming to DVD - For me, it was "NewsRadio". For Vashti, it was "Fame". It's a great feeling when Pavanbadal announces that your favorite show is being released.

11. The TV-DVD Board Opens - It was a good idea to separate the DVD threads from the general boards. From Vashti's Weekly Poll to everyone's lists of shows, it's a great place to visit.

12. The Creation of the Random Board After the Legendary "Why Not?" Thread - It's kind of self-explanitory.

13. The Year 2003 - This is one of the best years for Sitcoms Online. Although it was an emotional year with many celebrity deaths, it was a memorable year.

14. Safety Pin - As she says "if my presence isn't on there, NOTHING deserves to be on there."

15. The Happy Days Mafia

16. The "Death" of Chad Doody

17. Barwars - These boards (mostly General, DVD & Cheers) would be different without him.

18. The Sitcoms Online Monkees - I wanted something I did to be added to the list. So I'm going back to my fan fiction of The Sitcoms Online Monkees. It only made three episodes, but now I'm planning to make some more. The Monkees were:
TV Adam (Guitar) The Mike of the Group
Chad Doody (Drums) The Micky of the Group
Barwars (Tamberine) The Davy of the Group
TJL (Other Guitar) The Peter of the Group

19. Every Single Member ... Ever! - This place would suck without the people who are here now, and who was here in the past. Even the trouble makers should be appreciated. Without them, we would all just get along. I mean who wants everybody to be exactly the same? That would be boring. At least the trouble makers can make a boring thread exciting.

20. September 11, 2001 - Although I wasn't around then (I came a year later), I'm sure this was a big deal for the message boards as well. A sad day for America.

Please add some more, so we can make it to 100.

Thanks TVAdam! That's nice that you remembered why this is such a nice place to come to all of the time.

Over the years at SO I remember.........

- September 11 and all the posts that were posted.

- The folks at the Facts of Life board a couple of years back when they had so much to say.

- The death of Rerun and a host of other TV stars.

- The Chit chat boards I love the games, music, movies.

I do want to thank all the good folks here for giving us this good place to come to. We get to share so much here. I enjoy reading alot of the posts and I do learn alot from the young people here.

2003 in general - it seemed like a legendary celeb died every week that year. :( It really made us wake up and learn to better appreciate the older people still alive today.

I agree about the John Ritter point...I remember that day like it was yesterday. That was very sad. :(

I agree about the John Ritter point...I remember that day like it was yesterday. That was very sad. :(

That's true. Here's a list I compiled of the celebrities that passed away in 2003.

Richard Crenna (November 30, 1926 - January 17, 2003)
Nell Carter (September 13, 1948 - January 23, 2003)
Michael Jeter (August 26, 1952 - March 30, 2003)
Buddy Ebsen (April 2, 1908 - July 6, 2003)
Edna Skinner (May 23, 1921 - August 8, 2003)
Larry Hovis (February 20, 1936 - September 9, 2003)
John Ritter (September 17, 1948 - September 11, 2003)
Stanely Fafara (September 20, 1949 - September 20, 2003)
Gordon Jump (April 1, 1932 - September 22, 2003)
Florence Stanely (July 1, 1924 - October 3, 2003)
Art Carney (November 4, 1918 - November 9, 2003)
Earl Hindman (October 20, 1942 - December 29, 2003)

Through all those deaths, I think John Ritter's had the biggest reaction her at the messageboards.

I'll go along with the Happy Days Mafia. However, I don't come to the Chit Chat boards very much. Therefore, alot of stuff didn't make the list, since I'm not familar with it. What's the deal with the "Death" of Chad Doody? After a few more events get listed, I'll edit them to my original post and try to get 100 events/people.

This sounds like a popularity list to me.

Well, I feel sorry for both those who don't get mentioned and those that do get mentioned (for they crave the need to be in spotlight, as a result, of lacking it in real life).

Always a pleasure to see you back on the borads dude.

Adamantium
11-06-2005, 11:17 PM
I was going to list some and others would list some more until we got to 100. If you want added, list yourself and give a reason. For the most part, I'm listing memorable events or threads. However, there are some people here that the boards would not be the same without. You can't deny Pavanbadal's importance here.

Why does somebody always have to take threads too seriously and bring a negative spin to it?

Adamantium
11-06-2005, 11:21 PM
Do we really need to add names? That just turns it into a popularity contest.

I see your point. And because I don't visit the Chit Chat Boards, there are a lot of people that would never make the list that should. Since I don't really know them. I was just planning on three or four names anyways. The rest would be memorable events or threads.

Events and people are not the same thing. If you want a thread which contains a popularity list for people then make one.

The name of this thread is "Sitcoms Online Top 100 List". Thus, it could be anything from Sitcoms Online - people, threads, events. Don't get me wrong, I understand what you're saying.

Some are people, others are certain things or threads done by the people. Notice, I didn't put TJL (if this was a popularity contest, he would certainly be in it). However, I put TJL's use of ";)". Instead of putting Janice (another popular member), I put Janice's Birthday Threads. I'm looking at this as an observer of the boards. And these are the things that stick out to me (or the others who have given me events ;)).

If you're offended, I'm sorry. But you really don't need to take a thread on a messageboard all that seriously.

Adamantium
11-07-2005, 12:25 AM
If that's true, then why does the original post of this thread say "this for events"? If you want this to be a list about people AND events, then you should make that quite clear in your original thread.

TVAdam's Original Post for this Thread:
"This is for events of people of Sitcoms Online that should be recognized. They not in any order. Feel free to add some, since I didn't come close to a hundred."

I had typed it wrong. I meant to put "events and people of Sitcoms Online." So while I can't say you're wrong, I did mean to put that.

With that clarification made by TV Adam, then what I said still stands - this list is more or less a popularity contest.

Well I wish all of the luck to those who didn't contribute that much (regardless if they were unable to) to this site or those who are usually "overlooked" or "underrated" at this site!

Why do you care so much? I was just trying to have a fun topic, much like TV Land's "Top 100 Memorable Moments" and you just keep picking at me. I didn't intend it to be a popularity contest, but if that's what it's become ... Oh well. It's just a thread. I've seen threads here asking who your favorite S.O. members are. I'm never anyone's favorite. But I don't go around arguing over Popularity Contests. It's nice to care about the overlooked or underrated people at this site, though.
