View Full Version : Isn't it amazing that all the stress that James went through about paying bills and TVFactFan 11-04-2005, 12:28 PM searching for jobs that he never once turned to DRUGS or ALCOHOL? He hung in there and kept fighting and never turned to drugs unlike Keith-lol James was a strong man, mentally and physically. Ireneparalegal 11-04-2005, 12:51 PM Yeah, he was a damn good man. and a damn handsome one too. He just should have had his head bald. Damn Damn Damn!!!! James and his tight tan jeans.......oh sorry Soloman, i know u don't want to hear abt that!!! LOL gilligan fanatic 11-04-2005, 01:32 PM yeah the Evans were the only ones in the neighborhood not to do drugs. It seemeed like there were many whinos there too catlover79 07-05-2007, 02:04 AM Yes, James sure was a strong man who didn't fall prey to addiction. Other than the occasional beer (or Musketal!) to wind down after a hard day's work, he was sober all the time. Keith sure could've learned a few things from his father-in-law had he ever known him. Did you ever notice that the Evans family had all these relatives who were criminals, alcoholics, gamblers, etc.? I think the only normal ones were Grandpa Evans and Florida's brother (the one played by Lou Gossett, and I don't remember his character's name). CWDogg 07-05-2007, 02:58 AM Well JJ had some of that in him. His "finding things" and "hustling" does bend the rules a little. I guess that "dishonest" gene skipped Michael and Thelma completely. comedyfreak 07-05-2007, 03:29 AM searching for jobs that he never once turned to DRUGS or ALCOHOL? He hung in there and kept fighting and never turned to drugs unlike Keith-lol James was a strong man, mentally and physically. James was that strong father figure the family needed. TVFactFan 07-06-2007, 10:23 AM James was that strong father figure the family needed. I just didn't understand a article a read in the 1976 jet yesterday that stated JAMES was the only strong Black father on TV at that time which I feel was false because George Jefferson was a strong father figure also. Ireneparalegal 07-06-2007, 12:22 PM I just didn't understand a article a read in the 1976 jet yesterday that stated JAMES was the only strong Black father on TV at that time which I feel was false because George Jefferson was a strong father figure also. Maybe when the interview took place for the article, George Jefferson wasn't that visible yet. TVFactFan 07-06-2007, 05:40 PM Maybe when the interview took place for the article, George Jefferson wasn't that visible yet. The issue of that Jet was 7/22/76. At the time the Jeffersons was going into their 3rd season so he was defintely VISIBLE-lol Mr. Television 07-06-2007, 05:44 PM For some reason and maybe because Lionel didn't live at home much when The Jeffersons were on most people probably didn't consider George a TV Father. catlover79 07-06-2007, 05:50 PM For some reason and maybe because Lionel didn't live at home much when The Jeffersons were on most people probably didn't consider George a TV Father. I agree. Lionel was a grown man and doing his own thing, and the Evans kids (at the outset) were still in school and living by their parents' rules. TVFactFan 07-06-2007, 05:56 PM Yes Lionel was out of his parents home but lived with him them for 5 years. George was a smart business man, loved his family, never cheated on his wife, and like James was ready to PROTECT his family if he had to so there is no way someone can tell me George wasn't a strong father image on TV catlover79 07-06-2007, 06:00 PM Yes Lionel was out of his parents home but lived with him them for 5 years. James was a beer dranker and kept liquor in the household, does that count? Ireneparalegal 07-06-2007, 10:07 PM The issue of that Jet was 7/22/76. At the time the Jeffersons was going into their 3rd season so he was defintely VISIBLE-lol The Jeffersons was already a series in 1974? catlover79 07-06-2007, 11:23 PM James was a beer dranker and kept liquor in the household, does that count? True, but he usually just had a bottle of beer to unwind after a long day at work - my dad does that. Sometimes, if it was a special occasion, the family would bring out the Musketal. Janice Johnson 07-09-2007, 07:51 PM searching for jobs that he never once turned to DRUGS or ALCOHOL? He hung in there and kept fighting and never turned to drugs unlike Keith-lol James was a strong man, mentally and physically. You have to remember that Keith was younger than James, so that could be why he lacked the maturity to handle his problems, while James who was twice his age could handle his problems maturely. James and his tight tan jeans.......oh sorry Soloman, i know u don't want to hear abt that!!! LOL Girl, I still have flashbacks about those tight tan jeans.......... ;) And yeah, he was a very good man to his family. comedyfreak 07-19-2007, 08:59 AM I just didn't understand a article a read in the 1976 jet yesterday that stated JAMES was the only strong Black father on TV at that time which I feel was false because George Jefferson was a strong father figure also. Maybe because the Evans kids were minors and Lionel was already an adult. |
