View Full Version : NO KoQ Awards
sweetdiggity 11-03-2005, 10:23 PM It drives me insane that KoQ has not even been nominated for one award. I don't get it. I figured KoQ fans could nominate them for a People's Choice Award, turns out "People" don't get to nominate, just vote. That SUCKS! Why name it the People's Choice then? I want them to win- they deserve it. What can we do?......It would be cool if WE "the boardies" could make our own award and give it to them, to let them know they are appreciated. Please post your thoughts. Thanks.
HuntingtonM15 11-03-2005, 10:38 PM It really is a shame, but I've gotten used to the fact that the Emmy's don't and never will care about KOQ.

sweetdiggity 11-11-2005, 03:44 PM That Blows!!! Shame on anyone who has ignored a GREAT comedy that deserves much recognition.
As Arthur would say: "I'll See You in Hell" (to all of the Academies and "awards" shows that recognize talent)

Unfortunately, since we know how good a show it is, maybe it's best they don't get nominated. It's a false award anyways, meant to promote the people behind the award, PROCTOR AND GAMBLE. I would rather KoQ know that they mean more to us than some cheezy award that means nothing but more $$$ for a company that specializes in soap, toothpaste, etc.
There are many web sites that talk abt how most of these awards show that we are bombarded with mean nothing, except, maybe to the person(s) who receive them. But even those "winners" of the People's Choice awards know in advance they are going to "win" so what is the surprise there? Only to the audience. We are then deluged with their commercials to buy their products.
I love King of Queens and they deserve a better much more meaningful award. An Emmy for each star and for the writers and the rest of the crew. This show is awesome, funny, different and straight out hilarious.

I completely agree. The People's Choice is nothing but a joke.

Who should win an emmy (http://www.palmbeachpost.com/accent/content/accent/epaper/2006/07/05/a1e_emmys_0705.html)
BEST ACTOR/COMEDY
Kevin James (The King of Queens, CBS): The roly-poly James is the Rodney Dangerfield of TV sitcom leads he gets no respect. But he gets nothing but respect and laughs from me.

jpcanes 07-05-2006, 06:32 PM I will be shocked and happy at the same time if Leah gets nominated. I just don't see it happening.
You know at least 2 desperate housewives are going to get nominated. Then there is some pretty heavy buzz on Lauren Graham (Gilmore Girls) and Julia Louis-Dreyfus. That leaves one spot and that'll probably go to somebody from WEEDS. OY!!!
jpcanes 07-06-2006, 10:05 AM Kevin James nominated!!! I'm happy, but it's hard to believe! :clap

It's ridiculous! Plain and simple. :bonk:
They also dropped the ball in the Lead Actress Category In A Comedy Series, as J.P. pointed out! Two of them shows were cancelled, it is stupid that they'd even get nominated for roles on a crap show!
Lisa Kudrow?? That "Comeback" show was cancelled after only having 13 episodes.
What a waste of a nomination, I think.
ohno:
AhmedTaburov 07-06-2006, 10:49 AM I have to diagree.

Okay, I'll give you Lisa Kudrow (even though I've never seen the show).
But Stockard Channing??!! I watched that show a few times. She was good but not great. Show cancelled.
Debra Messing?... Overrated
Jane Kaczmarek & Julia Louis-Dreyfus I'm on the fence on those 2.
They may all be funny. But they're not Leah Remini funny.

Then there's the lead actress in a comedy category, in which four of the five nominees -- Stockard Channing ("Out of Practice"), Jane Kaczmarek ("Malcolm in the Middle"), Lisa Kudrow ("The Comeback") and Debra Messing ("Will & Grace") -- are from series that no longer exist. Only Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who helped announce the nominees Thursday morning, will be back next season in "The New Adventures of Old Christine."

The only thing that is sad involving Kevin James and the Emmys, is the many years it took for them to recognize him for his outstanding work on "The King of Queens"!!
Not only does he deserve the nomination, he deserves to win the award!

jpcanes 07-19-2006, 07:35 PM They are hard to find, but i found another one: Jane Holahan (http://local.lancasteronline.com/4/24168)
Two and a Half Men, a smarmy sitcom in which Charlie Sheen makes smarmy jokes about his sex life, was nominated for best comedy series. The King of Queens, which has been one of the funniest and sweetest comedies on TV for years, was not. I dont think it ever has been nominated. (Happily, its star, Kevin James, did get a nod, though Leah Remini, who plays his wife and is terrific, did not.)

"Kevin James is the big surprise in the comedy actor race," says Emmyฎ expert TOM O'NEIL, who shares his expertise with ET and also on the Web site theenvelope.com. "In Kevin's episode, he installs a stripper pole in his bedroom to spice up his marriage, and when his wife can't get the actions down, he shows her how it is done. It is hilarious."

jpcanes 08-27-2006, 09:50 AM Another of the uninformed: Doug Elfman (http://www.suntimes.com/output/entertainment/sho-sunday-elf27.html)
Honor just to be nominated: Larry David for "Curb Your Enthusiasm" and Tony Shalhoub for "Monk." Even if you like Carell, it's hard to argue he's got better comic chops than David, and Shalhoub is sublime even if his show is hit-and-miss. Sheen will lose, too, plus Kevin James of "The King of Queens." I don't know one person who talks about that show.
Email him and introduce yourself so that he'll know someone who talks about the show: delfman@suntimes.com

jpcanes 09-15-2006, 03:24 PM The hits just keep on comin':
Rather than creating a new solution, they simply combined two old problems. Another difficulty is that the blue ribbon panel of “experts” only tends to watch one demo episode of each candidate. Thus, King of Queens may have only had one really good episode, while Arrested Development consistently delivered many good episodes. However, as the panel only saw one of each, they liked the one episode for KoQ more than the one for Arrested Development, and thus KoQ lead actor Kevin James got a nomination that belonged to someone else.
Get your head outta your behind Rudy Hartmann! (http://www.tuftsobserver.org/arts/20060915/o_tempora_o_mores_the_200.html)
I will never understand what the hell is so special about Arrested Development! JMO

Rudy Hartmann is "a few fries short of a happy meal."
Whether Rudy or anyone else likes it or not, KJ deserved that nomination. :p

If KOQ was a top 20 show the awards would be flying off the shelves.
I know I will catch hell for this, but KOQ has cult fan base just as
Arrested Development had. Voters look at popular shows with ratings
appeal. Monk is a consistent top 4 show on cable every week, hence
the reason that actor(sorry his name escapes me) won over KJ,Carell
and the others.

If you are going to call AD and KoQ "cult" shows, then why has AD been nominated many times and won many times?? I'll tell you why, because AD is a darling of the critics which makes me dislike it that much more! The KoQ is not a "cutting edge" or "unique" show. The plots are fairly simple. Bottom line for a sitcom for me is, is it funny? The KoQ is DAMN funny, IMO.
Screw the critics and screw the Emmys!! We don't friggin' need 'em to know it's a GREAT show!!
It peeves me when critics slam the KoQ when you know damn well they probably haven't watched it in 3 or 4 years.
Welcome to hell... j/k

Where was the ratings appeal for Arrested Development? It had low ratings all 3 seasons it was on. The creator of the show said so himself, no one watched it.
Unfortunately, Arrested Development is the funniest program on television that no one has been watching. "The academy has twice rewarded us for something you people won't watch," creator Mitchell Hurwitz quipped to the TV audience during his Emmy acceptance speech last night.
