One time, I went into Subway, and it was a customer being waited on, and another worker was doing who knows what, and obviously I am standing here waiting to get some service. I got ignored for 5 minutes. It was this black dude behind me, and he said that the workers were being racist, because me and him were the only black customers in there. Whether that was the reason or not, the service was bad. The employees didn't even say, "I'll be right with you." Another time I went into McDonald's. I entered, and soon as I did, a crew leader(she had the shirt that said so) saw me and said, "Dang!" She had to take my order and didn't want to. Her and the other workers were playing around and they all wanted to "chill" After I got my order, other customers came in and I heard her say, "i'm not going to be able to eat sh*it!" if I wasn't hungry that day, I would have told the manager on her ass! You know Kool, I have had that experience, especially with fast food employees, that people just don't seem to want to wait on you. They give a look and their demeanor is like telling you "What the hell do you want!" Whenever I have been treated rudely, I always tell the manager. It works. Never let anyone treat u like that. You are too cool Kool. Just like here, if someone steps outta line, you report them. *MIBabe03* 10-15-2005, 12:47 PM When I was working at a store, I'll admit it I was rude sometimes. I only was when a customer would ask stupid questions. Such as "What aisle is your peanut butter on?" Um the aisle that says peanut butter on the sign. Or after we'd have a storm, "Why are the carts wet?" Um, because customers are lazy and don't bother to bring them back where they belong, and also because you're shopping in the rain. Living In a '70's Dream 10-15-2005, 12:50 PM When I was a teen-ager I worked at a fast food establishment, and yes, I was rude at the customers and vice versa, nowadays, I will not tolerant any kind of disrespect towards me or others. I actually had someone fired because this person was impolite to my mother and myself. Ireneparalegal 10-15-2005, 01:27 PM When I was working at a store, I'll admit it I was rude sometimes. Riiiiiiight on!!!!!! They are dumb for asking dumb questions like that. What do they expect? someone to dry the carts??? Ha! To 70's dream: I hear that...I know what you mean. I had worked as a night manager at a fast food restaurant...man, some people are just rude. I didn't treat anyone rude. But when someone was rude to me, I would make sure I had the last word. Brian 10-15-2005, 01:29 PM I've never been but my parents were. A few years ago they were shopping at Best Buy and the employees there were socializing and stuff while not helping them. They refuse to shop there unless there is something I want to buy. Ireneparalegal 10-15-2005, 01:41 PM One time abt 15 years ago while shopping at the grocery store, i had 12 items and went in the 10 items or less lane. The cashier (a man) proceeded to tell me that this time he will take me in his line but next time I should not come in this line with more than 10 items. I had what was 10 items, i had purchased these three 6-pack of sodas and he was counting them as three individual items...my mistake i guess, still no reason to be rude. I even turned to the lady behind me thinking she would defend me or agree with my assumption and she just made this disgusting look on her face like she was pissed at me too...I made it clear to the cashier he made his point, but he didn't need to be rude with me abt it. It was a misunderstanding on my part. I proceeded to tell the manager who then went over to the cashier and began telling him not to be rude and never to tell a customer abt the 10 items rule when the customer has gone over the limit with a few items. It would be different if they had a cart of items. I swear, I never felt sooooo good. Now, to this day, whenever I see that cashier (yes, he still works there) I never go in his line. I would rather wait in a long-ass line then go thru his line again. Karen* 10-15-2005, 03:04 PM From a different point of view: As an employee at the movie theater, I did get kinda pissed off at this one customer. I mean, I am grateful that most customers I help are polite and nice, but some of them are just...ugh...SOOOOO frickin demanding. And if you demand something from me...I'll get mad. I know I'm not supposed to react in that way, but I do. I talked about this before at this forum, but I'll just post this incident again for the sake of this thread... It happened at around the beginning of last month. We had an 8 o'clock rush and I was really struggling through things because there was only one other person making food with me. This lady came up to me and asked for a hot dog, which I was just preparing to put on the warmer and I gave it to her, all freshly wrapped up and stuff. Then she came back and asked me if I could change her bun. I was really tired and still struggling to get other important things done at this point, so I told her "I'll try." But then the bitch REALLY got on my nerves when she actually pointed to one of our advertisements and asked "Can I have a hot dog bun that looks like this?". I was like, "You know, that's just our advertisement..." and in my mind, I was like, "You really expect us to serve hot dogs that look exactly like that?". Even though I was mad, I was honestly trying to be rational, but the bitch thought I was being rude, so she yelled at me. She didn't even give me a chance to explain what I meant, she just did it. She yelled, "WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM? I JUST WANT YOU TO CHANGE MY BUN! DON'T TRY, JUST DO IT! WHERE IS YOUR MANAGER?" The manager happened to walk by right behind her as this happened, but he still seemed a little oblivious. Anyway, I told her that he was right behind her and as they settled whatever needed to be settled, I gave the lady a new hot dog. But when she left, I went into the kitchen and cried. That dumb lady had no excuse to act the way she did. I think she OVERreacted. I know I may have come off as a little bit rude, but it was kind of on her too that we had that problem, you know? I felt like I had some fault in it, although I felt that the customer was being irrational about it as well. Anyway, after that incident, I learned that I have to watch what I say to customers. My job is still going on strong and most customers have still been pretty cool. But I do have a message to all of you: Please be nice to employees, not all of them mean bad. We have feelings too. :( Ireneparalegal 10-15-2005, 03:37 PM From a different point of view: As an employee at the movie theater, I did get kinda pissed off at this one customer. This other man was mad cuz he said he wanted his sandwich HOT! well this guy who I worked with, said okay, I will make it HOT for you. He put it in the microwave and BROILED THAT SUCKER!!!! Better be careful people abt making food employees mad......employees get even!!!! Chocoholic 10-19-2005, 04:43 PM I worked at a grocery store for 5 and 1/2 years and the only time I was really outright rude was to this nasty "lady" (I use that term loosely.) who kept coming in and making fun of me because I happen to be disabled. I finally had that pile of horse dung banned from the store! I always act pleasant and respectful to employees because I know just how tough it is dealing with the general public. I try to give rude employees the benefit of the doubt. Maybe they just had a really rotten customer earlier that day. Maybe if more people realized that customer service employees are human beings too, they wouldn't be so rude and they'd get better service. Central Perk 10-19-2005, 06:00 PM I'm always polite to customers who come into the store I work at. It's the customers who always give you a hard time. This one lady was being a real bitch yesterday because I asked to see that her store check card and checks matched with the same name. She was accusing me of acting like the FBI, I mean it's not my policy. And then she started throwing her groceries around at me, it's annoying *******s like her that make me not want to work. TheGreatPretender 10-19-2005, 08:31 PM I was rude to some customers, I'll hate to admit. I hate it when they kept asking "how long are ya open till?" and it says in huge letters on the display window OPEN 6:00-800. And when they ask for a donut that costs sixty cents and they would hand me a 50 dollar bill. :wallbang: I would just be very impacient. (And she also must have known I wouldnt act like a 2yo and ratt her out) Everyone has bad days....... ThisLittlePiggy 09-30-2025, 12:35 PM At Starbucks there was this woman who spent at least 10 minutes asking questions about some new protein milk thing that could be added to a drink. She kept asking the same questions and the line was forming and there were already four other people in line. Then when she finally tried it she said it didn't taste right and the lady who worked there said she would remake it but the lady just said no, I've already waited long enough for this I'll just drink it. I was trying not to laugh. I had gotten there just before her for my espresso. Espresso is the only thing I order at Starbucks. ThisLittlePiggy 09-30-2025, 12:37 PM She kept wanting to know how many extra calories the drink would have and they finally said they thought 40. Who cares? She was doing it on purpose probably trying to make them mad but they kept smiling. |
