View Full Version : What to do when you just need to chill-out?

I'm so anxious right now that I'm literally beside myself. My meds, for some strange reason, decided to slack off today, and I'm completely wired. Can't eat, got no sleep last night, can't do much of anything. I have a lot on my mind lately concerning people in my life, so I guess that's contributing to it.

Because my meds usually take care of this, I have no idea how to just chill out. I took a hot shower hoping it would loosen my tense-ness in my neck, but that didn't help. Tried listening to music, tried laying down.

What do you guys do when you just need down time? Maybe one of you will have the lucky answer that'll work for me.

Watch comedy central or listen to music. Erm but usually what I do is take stuff out on everyone else, hyperventilate, and or flip out :) That's not the right one though. Don't do that one.

Sometimes I find myself just surfing the web for stuff that crosses my mind. That relaxes me.

Ha! I bet you thought I was going to say "hanging out in a bar."

I do that on weekends.

Do what I do. Eat! Maybe eating would help a bit? Just have something you really love. Play with Chloe.

I go online, watch TV or a DVD, listen to music, or just lie down and do nothing.

When I am anxious, I HAVE to keep my brain occupied. I always fall victim of just thinking, thinking, and doing MORE thinking. To avoid falling into this endless circle, I find it best to visit forums I frequent (here and an Ace of Base forum). Just reading threads and topics sorta gets me out of that over-analyzing loop.

I also like to play some music or just type in my journal pouring my feelings out.

There's a few things I do when my meds aren't working. The main thing I do is PRAY!!! I find that pouring out my heart and feelings to God, almost always helps me to feel better. I'm not sure if you're religious or not, but reading the Bible almost always helps me as well. Sometimes it works so well, it's as if Iv'e become a totally new person. My last suggestion would be that you take a nice walk. I have a park about 2 minutes from my house, so I usually walk there, and sit on a bench, and just breath in the fresh air, and listen to the sounds of nature. That's usually incredibly relaxing!! Anyway, I hope one of these suggestions help you, and I hope you start feeling better soon!! Hang in there!! :)

Monday, I figured, was just one of my off days. I thought it would go away. Yesterday, it was a bit strange that I was still like this.

But today?! What is my problem?! I know what it is, it's certain people, but I just cannot calm down. And I can't talk to them either, because I'm so mad at them.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. I'll try some of them.
