Who do you like better?
I personally am for Mr Lucas, he wasn't as irritating as Spooner.

Marvo301 10-09-2005, 02:07 AM I agree. I liked Lucas better too. I think he had a better chemistry with the rest of the cast. m campbell 10-11-2005, 04:15 PM :happyface Definatly Mr. Lucas he was so much cuter than Mr. Spooner.;) friendsfan77 11-20-2005, 04:35 PM Lucas... Lucas all the way. Moonlight Lady 11-28-2005, 03:49 PM Mr. Lucas. Lurker 11-28-2005, 04:31 PM Well, to be honest I don't remember Mr. Spooner. So I would have to go with Mr. Lucus. :) Am I right in assuming Mr.Spooner was the first one? If so, I must not have seen many of the earlier episodes. friendsfan77 11-28-2005, 07:57 PM Well, to be honest I don't remember Mr. Spooner. Mr. Lucas was first, played by Trevor Bannister. He left the show after the 1979 season. Mr. Spooner (Mike Berry) joined in 1981. Lurker 11-28-2005, 08:10 PM oops, I guess I meant I liked Mr. Spooner better. :o I knew I liked the second one better. pepperkane 11-30-2005, 07:43 PM Mr. Lucas was much funnier than spooner. he was always up to something plus the only time spooner was of use was the rock star episode and even then mr humphries and the gang stole the show. Pex the Unalive 12-13-2005, 03:21 PM Lu-Lu-Lu...I'm trying to say Lucas! :D Spooner was too wet, really. As mentioned earlier, his finest hour was the Rock Star episode. There were too many classic Lucas moments to count, but you just had to love him when he broke out that devilish grin when he was being a naughty boy... FredScuttle 12-13-2005, 03:36 PM Defintely Mr Lucas...he was always getting in trouble, esp in the early episodes, usually while trying to hit on Miss Brahms. I love it when he does the "glass of water for"...bit Adamantium 08-31-2006, 09:30 PM I have just purchased every episode of "Are You Being Served?" on DVD. After watching many of the episodes, I must say that Mr. Lucas is funnier and more charming than Mr. Spooner. In fact, Lucas is my favorite character of the whole show. I definitely miss him in series 8-10. 70's US Sitcoms Rock 09-01-2006, 05:02 AM I must say that Mr. Lucas is funnier and more charming than Mr. Spooner. I also liked Mr Grainger, the curmudgeonly old sod. I felt the show lost a lot when these guys left. I never liked Old Mr Grace - He had some well written lines, but I could never see the point of him. Adamantium 09-01-2006, 10:50 PM Totally agree - Trevor Bannister really made the script work. I even like Mr. Mash more than Mr. Harmon, though Harmon seems more popular. Once Mr. Grainger passed away, they couldn't keep a replacement. First Mr. Tebbs came and went, then Mr. Goldberg and Mr. Grossman. I'm not sure if there were any others, I haven't watched all the episodes yet. Over at TV.Com it says that Mr. Tebbs was forced out of the show because his character was too similar to another character the actor portrayed, I believe in commercials. And Mr. Goldberg left because they wouldn't give him a bigger role. I, too, don't care much for Old Mr. Grace. Originally I didn't care for Young Mr. Grace, but he's grown on me. At least he was a real old man. Old Mr. Grace was someone made up to look old, and it just comes off looking phony. I know that Old Mr. Grace would have been really old (I'm guessing in his ninties) but it still looked phony. That had nothing to do with the topic of Lucas versus Spooner, but I'm a new fan of the show, and I felt like discussing it. lol 70's US Sitcoms Rock 09-02-2006, 11:28 AM No, none of the replacements were as good as the originals (in my mind). JMFabiano524 03-16-2007, 02:46 PM Lucas. The competition ended before it began. The Great One 03-18-2007, 05:25 PM My pick is for Mr. Lucas. otaku_tiger 09-17-2007, 09:44 AM lucas by far. Mr Humphires and lucas make such a cute lil team! i just dont think spooner works well. howierules86 12-06-2007, 09:27 AM Mr. Lucas for sure. |
