I don't know what happen in the 1980-85 era. Especially the theme song for the 84-85 season, it was horrible. I'm watching I'm listening to the opening theme from the 78-79 season and it was very nice.

I agree. From 1981-1985 the theme was not very good. They used the same theme for all four years. Basically for those seasons (the Jolene years), it was the most upbeat but by far my least favorite.

I used to like the final theme, but then after watching the reruns on ION, I realized how tiresome it became!

I like it, too. It's on my iPod. :lol:

I also have it on my TV Tunes Greatest hits CD.....sounds great in living stereo!

I should have liked the first theme better. The theme used for the 1980-81 season sounded like someone tried to flirt with me when the theme song of House Calls was playing.

I can't believe the theme song was written by Alan and Marilyn Bergman, the same award winning couple who has penned many Streisand songs (including the soundtrack to 1983's YENTL) in the past thirty years or so. Maybe Barbra could have sung 'the complete' version of 'New Girl In Town' for one of her albums!:p

They also co-wrote the theme song for Good Times, believe it or not. :lol: Another song they collaborated on was "It Might Be You" (sung by Stephen Bishop) for the movie Tootsie.
