That's one of the reasons I stopped listening to rap music. There are a few original artists out there today, but for the most part, it's mostly crap in my opinion. I miss the days of Ice Cube, 2PAC, D.J. Quick, Biggie Smalls, and Bone Thuggs & Harmony, etc. Hopefully a new crop of original rappers will come along soon.

I think the reason people dislike rap with such a passion is because it's taken over basically every format and station. The only real outlet people have to escape rap music is country, and what if people don't like country either?

Plus I don't like the arrogant attitude most of the rappers have, like the way Kanye and 50 were both such "good sports" when someone else won "Best New Artist" over them. I don't like either Gretchen Wilson or Evanescence but it was really unprofessional for 50 and Kanye to **** over their moment. I doubt if the situation was reversed that Gretchen or Amy Lee would've tried to damper their moment.

If hip hop didn't dominate basically every walk of life, people might not have such a problem with it, but when it's 90% of the videos you see on MTV or MTV-2 and when VH1 seems to only like to show Behind The Music's of rappers (they have a library of 200 of those, why is it they only ever air Dr. Dre's?) and "pop" stations play more rap than they actually play POP, people have the right to voice that they're tired of it.

well okay, if people are tired of it, then that's fine. Just dont generalize one genre as totally evil. They dont really play that many videos on MTV anyway, and when they do play videos in the morning, maybe it's me, but I usually see other genres as well. Some of the rappers are arrogant, yes. Rap has no melody, so it's not music. It is completely and utterly devoid of any talent. I'm repulsed the media glorifies it so much.

Personally, I'm no fan of rap for the most part. Every so often, there's a song that comes out and I find it catchy and I like it, but most of the time, I'm annoyed by it. I just find it completely immature, asinine, and plain stupid for people to raise their blood pressure over something that they supposedly "don't care for." If you don't like rap music, why don't you stop talking about it all the time? Refusing to call it a genre of music is childish. "Rappers don't sing!" Well Beethoven didn't either, dammit, and classical is considered a genre! "Well there's no melody!" The rapper barely has a melody, but the music usually does.

I'm not defending rap music at all, but I'm just saying that some people really just need to pull the Huggies out of their ass.

Thank you for defining just what qualifies as music for the rest of the world. I know about melody, I've been playing/listening to classical music since I was in 4th grade. Rap has a melody. If it devoid of any melody, I doubt many people would be listening to it. I dont know what rap you listen to, but it's not a bunch of drums.
