You mean the disappearance of George Owens? I can't find anything on the internet (so far). Since it was a Tennessee case (he vanished in 1985), one may have to contact Tennessee authorities and ask about the status of the case. It might be a long shot, but it's better than no shot.

You're probably thinking about a different case. The man in question, George Owens, disappeared from Tennessee in 1985, never to be seen again. Some believe that he suffered a mild stroke and lost memory that he was to pick up his wife at a terminal. His car was found in the woods, with sticks in them. Sadly, his wife died a few years later, without ever knowing George's fate. :(

UM did, in fact, have a 1989 segment about an old man who was found shot to death. It was a 68-year-old man named Dexter Stefanik (if I spelled the last name correctly). In November of 1985, He was en route home to Wisconsin (from his son's residence in Oregon), only to disappear for several months, until his body was found in a landfill in 1986. On the same day he disappeared, his car was found torched. Dexter had been shot twice in the head. And it wasn't long before cops found graffiti in a restroom. The graffiti was apparently made by the killer, as it included references to Dexter's murder.

Could you have been thinking of the Dexter Stefanik murder?

There was never any update on George Owens the last time they aired the segment. That doesn't mean that nothing happened, but this repeated while Lifetime was still adding updates to cases with their announcer, so they must have not followed up or nothing was ever found of him.
