I surely think so. Someone made an excellent point one time concerning that. I think it was on here, but they said that GT probably knew they weren't going to be renewed for another season, so they threw everything together at once.

How can EVERYBODY have so much luck? And this time, no one was there to take it away from them. JJ becomes a cartoon arteeeeest, as he says. Keith, after suffering a Willis McGahee type injury, signs with the Bears. Thelma becomes pregnant, they're scheduled to move into a new apartment?? Why not a house? Have you ever heard of a football player, along with his wife, living in a apartment/condo? And Florida goes with them. Think of Thelma's response: She didn't know how to take care of a child and she would feel comfortable with her mother there with her. Nothing wrong with that. My mother will turn 76 next Tuesday and if she was in the same boat, hell yeah she would live with me. My wife and I would just have to "do it" in the bedroom rather than all over the house      As for Mike, he should've at least bought a car or something to make him look good. What did he say? He was living on campus. So what, LOL.

Lastly, by a coincidence, Willona moves into the same apartment as the Andersons and Florida. Wait a minute!! How did Willona become a part of this. To my knowledge, she didn't seem to have a problem living there in the projects. And she just "happened" to move into the same apartment as T and K. If she worked the boutique all of those years, I guess she did make some serious dough.

It was real corny to have Willona buying a APT in the same buliding. It could have been elsewhere

They wanted to tie up a lot of loose ends for all the screwjobs they were doing and didn't give the show the dignity it deserved.

Exactly. I don't live in Chicago, so I know nothing about Lake Shore Drive. The way they talk about it, it must a rich neighborhood.

Willona got a promotion as "Head Buyer", that is why she moved out of the projects.

She seemed to always be the head buyer after season one - LOL
but yeah, this was a sorry ending. Like i said before when this thread was started a while back by someone else, I said they should have had a two-part episode and stretched it out.

As for Michael, what's the big Yahoo for him for anyways??? He could have moved onto campus anytime. Why didn't he do it sooner? And please don't remind me of that episode abt that white girl. that doesn't count!!!!

I think the ending was perfect, I Loved it.

Did y'all realize people, did y'all realize, in the last season the show went on hiatus because of low rating and the producers (I think) got the word the show was gonna be cancelled so the writers finally did right by us and decided to give us some closure on the Evans family. So I think that's why everything good had to happen in one episode all at once to end without wondering did the Evans ever get out of the ghetto. I thnk it was
DYN-O-MITE!!!

Remember when he asked Bookman to take him downtown and bookman was like-No? "What would people say if they saw us?" And J.J said-"they will think we are fatman and Robin. You could see the actor, johnny brown, trying to hold in his laugh

He did that alot. Johnny has several scenes in diff. episodes where u could tell he wanted to laugh.

BTW, Johnny's imitation of Wolfman Jack is so damn good. He sounds just like him.

They wanted to give closure to the Evans' by getting them out of the ghetto. I think that was a good closure for the series giving that the show has gone through with John Amos being fired, Amos and Esther Rolle fighting to keep the dignity of the show and not giving negative images, and Esther Rolle abruptly quitting and making the show a parentless family for one season. When Esther Rolle quit and came back the damage was already done to what it was a great show in the first three seasons.

I thought the final episode of Good Times was quite enjoyable, if not great!
Hey, I can think of a lot of other shows that had an absolutely horrible finale..

I just watched that episode for the first time. It definitely was a rush job.

If I could change it, I'd stretch it out in a two-part finale. All the good things that happened to the family I'd keep, but I'd take a page from MTM and Barney Miller. The last shot would be of Florida in the empty apartment, looking around, turning off the lights and closing the door behind her for the last time. Flo would then say out loud, "James, we finally did it. We've really made it!" Then the scene would fade to black.

I'd also have JJ buy Flo a nice little house in the suburbs. She was the glue that held the family together, and could have used peace, quiet and privacy. But I digress, at least GT had a real finale and everyone lived happily ever after. Bewitched never had a real finale, and neither did Rhoda, to name just a few.
