View Full Version : JJ winning the lottery episode...
Ireneparalegal 09-01-2005, 02:23 AM I know this was kinda mentioned before, but when I saw the episode today it really made me mad when Florida said to the family (and Willona too, LOL) that the $$$$ should go in the bank, that's what she and James wanted, for the kids college education, etc. etc. etc. Then she has the audacity to turn to JJ and ask him what he is going to do with the $$$$$. Well, excuse me, but if my mother said all that and then turned to me and asked what I am gonna do with MY $$$$$$$, I would obviously do what SHE JUST SAID. Simply because she stated out loud for the whole world to hear. How will I be able to say NO after she said that??????? This is another episode where Florida opens her mouth and makes me mad. Simply said, if any money was made (or in this case, won) I guess it should be made clear that ALL $$$$ goes in the bank. But the way Florida went on and on abt college, etc. only to then ask her son "What do you think??". He doesn't have to think, Florida already decided. So stupid and so dumb.

Well J.J was still living in her apt so i guess he had to do whatever was going to benefit the entire family.
Ireneparalegal 09-01-2005, 10:09 AM Well J.J was still living in her apt so i guess he had to do whatever was going to benefit the entire family.
Exactly my point, if he lived there and HAD TO DO WHATEVER WAS GOING TO BENEFIT THE FAMILY, then why ask him the stupid question: WHAT DO YOU PLAN TO DO WITH THE MONEY?????? that is a rhetorical question, am I right?

Yeah it was another dumb question by Florida, i mean he wasn;t going to be living and sleeping on the sofa bed with $2500 in his wallet-lol
Ireneparalegal 09-01-2005, 11:15 AM Yeah it was another dumb question by Florida, i mean he wasn;t going to be living and sleeping on the sofa bed with $2500 in his wallet-lol
I love the way you make your point!!!!
nerrad 09-01-2005, 12:55 PM It's been a minute, but fill me in. Wasn't Florida the one who deposited the money in the bank? And didn't JJ go with her? LOL. If that's the case, I see why she wanted it in the bank. Not unless JJ had his own account, that money was going in hers. :D

nope. they established the bank acct when they went to the bank. they didn't have a bank acct. It wasn't abt whose bank acct the $$$ was going to anyway, it was the rhetorical question asked by Florida.
TVFactFan 09-01-2005, 02:20 PM I would have liked to see some continuity about the $2500 the Evans won after this episode. Like how was it spent.

I wonder was that the same bank J.J painted the mural for-LOL It damm sure was the same bank manager
GeorgeWBushGOP 09-01-2005, 04:06 PM You people are right on the money in this thread.
a mother who sacrifices everything for her family should expect her son to do the right thing.
GeorgeWBushGOP 09-01-2005, 04:07 PM That said. 2500 dollars wasn't even a life changing amount of money in the 70's
Ireneparalegal 09-01-2005, 04:11 PM You people are right on the money in this thread.
a mother who sacrifices everything for her family should expect her son to do the right thing.
You are so right George. I hear that. Just the fact the question (rhetorical question that is) was asked wasn't necessary.
BTW it was the same bank manager. YAHOOOOOOO GT writers kept the continuity this time!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GeorgeWBushGOP 09-01-2005, 04:21 PM THe first thing I would have done if I had won would have been to ask my mother what she thinks I should do with the money..
Unfortunately knowing my mother she would not have said go out and spend it on Booze, broads, and brawls.

Ah yes, the three B's...men!!!!!! LOL Men: Can't live with them, Can't live with them. No, this is not a typo either!!!

Because you know how nice and polite Flo is. She wasn't gonna TELL JJ what to do with HIS money, so she just asked him and hope he did the right thing. It's all about trusting your kids in making the right decisions, (after you hint to them what the right decision is.) ;)

Yeah she can give her opinion on what to do with the money, But it was his winnings and so it was up to him as to what to do with the money. She was only telling him the responsible thing to do and hope that he follows through. So I think she did the right thing.
And maybe the money went towards Michael's College tuition. If you noticed in the 6th season he didn't have problems with getting money for school. Also Thelma was in college also, well in season 5 I don't know what happened with her schooling in season 6.

Oh Craftman, you hit it on the head. Flo was HINTING and basically saying you do this and this. Florida didn't need an answer other than the HINT she gave. Stupid!!!!!! That's like watching someone eat a slice of cake and you say: "You're not going to eat that whole slice are you?" That person is HINTING they want some of that cake!!!!!!! Florida should have just spoken her mind and said this is what's going to go down with the $$$$. Don't HINT, and then ask your son what are you going to do with it...MY GOD, he isn't going to say anything different.

Florida should have taken some of the money to get her HAIR done-lol It would have been nice to see her with something else besides the Fro
Ireneparalegal 09-02-2005, 04:26 PM Florida should have taken some of the money to get her HAIR done-lol It would have been nice to see her with something else besides the Fro
:thanks: By the way Soloman, what do you suggest Florida have gotten as far as a diff. hairstyle??? You keep mentioning that so I figure you should say how would you like to have seen her hair?

How would you like it if Flo came in with a BLOND fro, that's a little different.
craftman 09-03-2005, 12:37 AM a Wig like Willona
Well, we did get to see Flo in a wig like Willona in "The Rent Party", and you know what, to me she didn't look right, she looked better with her fro. IMO

I love that movie. I have it on tape. I couldn't stand her character in that movie. She was so disrespectful to her mother. She was a little "skank". LOL

nerrad 09-06-2005, 09:18 AM Tamu was no beauty pageant contestant herself. LMAO!!!!!!!!!
You got that right. She looked liked Florida's daughter. She should've been Thelma. LOL. Hey, at least she would've been the toughest child in the house.
nerrad 09-09-2005, 01:41 PM That was on last night and Tamu had some one liners for JJ.
JJ: Anyone ever tell you that you were beautiful?
Tamu: Well no. Anybody ever tell that you were handsome.
JJ: You know, what can I say??
Tamu: Just say they lied

I don;t know who was worse, Tamu or Shirley from What's Happening
nerrad 09-09-2005, 02:40 PM I guess that was Shirley's audition for What's Happening.
TVFactFan 09-09-2005, 08:15 PM I guess that was Shirley's audition for What's Happening.
What's Happening started before the 4th season of Good Times

They were both FUGLY!!!! My God, the casting director did a good job of choosing two girls to play hoodlums.
Living In a '70's Dream 09-12-2005, 09:44 PM it sure was funny. someone other than Thelma called JJ ugly! LOL
To me, JJ remarking on "UGLY" his sister was..was just plain STUPID as all hell. First, Jimmie Walker has to be one of the ugliest dudes ever to disgrace his horrendous face on this planet! and having him making fun of someone who is quite beautiful, is just plain ridiculous and idiotic, regardless if this was written into the show for a quick laugh...HA HA..NOT!

And kind of name is TAMU? It rhymes with SHAMU...

I watching a episode last night when she said Negro Please. The guy in the bar was like-"It's you, i spotted you clear across the room and you are the only one for me" and willona was like-"negro Please"-lol

You know, I find that sooo funny. I have a friend who is divorced from her husband, he is black, she is hispanic. Anyway she was telling me abt an argument they had on the phone abt child visitation and she was going on and on and she blew me away when she said she told him "Negro Please!!!" I was ROTFLMAO!!!!!! I had never expected her to say that, especially since I had just seen an episode of GT when Willona had said it.

The phrase is funny enough, but the way she says it and looks at the person is just priceless.
