I watched GT this early evening abt JJ winning the lottery. After the scuffle when the two girls were apprehended by the family, Florida tells Thelma to call the police. Then the scene seemed to be cut right there. Is the part that was edited out the line by Thelma where she said something to the effect of the police won't come out and Florida yells out, "You tell them we're white!" ? I remember that line being said in an episode. Was this the episode????? Damn, if it is, that is one funny line, it should never have been edited out. I don't understand how 5 seconds of dialogue can make a difference to TV Land. It only makes a difference when THEY CUT THINGS OUT!!!!!!

Yeah I believe that's what Florida says, TvLand can chop up a episode and they will leave the boring stuff and cut out the funny parts. That episode will air next Friday on TvOne.

Lucky for you to have TVOne, it must be an east coast station. I live in California, never heard of TVONe

You have a great memory don't you. Yes that was the episode when Florida said "You tell them we're white."

Hey Irene, do you have any of the DVD's of Good Times?

I don't know it might be an east coast thing, but I live in Dallas Tx. I have Directv so that's how I got it, I know Comcast carries it also. But I guess it all depends on where you live.

You mean you can make all these comments on the show just from memory.

Well, if you want some advice, I think you should get them. I'm telling you, to me it's pretty cool to watch any episode you want, when you want, go back and check quotes and see if that was really a guy that Michael was kissing!!!

Oh yeah, I think for the most part the episodes are not edited on DVD. I found the one edit in "The Baby", but that's the only one I found that I can remember. I still have to go through the 5th season though.

Let me know if this helped your decision any.

Yeah the DVD's are great. I like to use the zoom tool on my DVD player to see things in the back ground up close LOL. They aren't edited, they are really great to have on the days when you have nothing to watch on tv. And theres closed caption just incase you miss something. I recommend you get them.

At walmart some are down to 13 bucks so that's great also

The fact that this is coming from you, I will then look forward to buying the DVD's as I had planned. I guess it would be fun to check out the episodes the way you say. Yeah, I have been a fan of GT's since it's first airing, and having watched them over and over and over again, it becomes engrained in my brain. Just like I love Lucy. I know that show backward and forward. GTimes comes a close second. But I know that there are others on this board who know the show WAY BETTER than I do. Thanx for the nice comments Craftman. You are so nice.

Aw, you make my day Retro. I look forward to the banter that will come my way when we all have our input on these boards. Yes, I admit, I don't own any DVD's (Yet!!!!). I was so excited when Tvland brought GT to their schedule. I was so upset when I had to watch it at 2 in the morning on TBS.
I look forward to chatting with all of you. I love the little beefs we have, but it's all done in good humor. Besides, like Craftman said, I have a good memory, so it's like I have the DVD's in my head!!!!! :p

BTW, can anyone tell me why sometimes our signature lines appear below and sometimes they don't??? I noticed that on mine and Soloman's.

I think they only appear when you create your own thread or when you make your first response to someone thread. So if you are chatting about a topic, i don;t think it shows on every post within that thread

AWWWWWW, that is so sweet. That makes my day. Especially after yesterday when I was called the B-word several times by a poster, oh yeah, I was called a racist (poster assumed I was black) and other malarkey. You are so nice Soloman. That's why this is the best forum. That TVLand forum is the pits!!!!!

Yes, but on another thread. The "hollywood walk of fame" thread I started. It finally got edited out. As a matter of fact I WAS CALLED THAT BY THE MODERATOR HIMSELF!!!!!!! Is that crazy or what????

That line was soooo funny, to me at least. Which is why I was certain it had been edited out. Man, cut out un-funny lines TVLand, not the good ones.

What! The line was edited? I was looking foward to seeing that part! I still do have the eps on VHS from Columbia House, so I'm good. I have seen that line from the unedited Columbia House version.

I still believe INTERNS are doing the editing at TV LAND. Just like from the episode-"Evans versus Davis", at the end of the episode when Florida says-"as long as there are aldermans like Fred D. Davis, we will always be living right here in the ghetto, and after that J.J puts his arm around her, but TV LAND cut that aprt out too-lol WHY?-LOL

The line is used on the TV Land ep. That line always got to me. I am suprised TV Land edited out? Irene, my apologies to you for whoever called you a female dog. We need to grow up on this board. We don't know each other face to face and argue the way we do. Its riduculous!

But the odd think was the only thing left in the episode was J.J putting his arm around Florida and that was cut. Tv land is the editing champion

I appreciate your apology ThomasE. No hard feelings at all. I know it is dumb people who are not all there. I know this board has the greatest contributors. You don't need to apologize. Thanx anyhow and keep up the good work. Okay everybody, let's keep going with the funny stuff here.!!!!
