View Full Version : Oh grow up....
Dean Winchester 08-27-2005, 06:49 PM no, this isn't some lecture thread.
However, I was just curious since we have a wide age range of people here, what shows do you identify with your childhood, the years when you "grew up"?
Dean Winchester 08-27-2005, 06:51 PM here are the ones I usually think of when I think of being a little kid and the shows I watched when I was growing up
Cosby Show, Family Ties, Diff'rent Strokes, Facts Of Life, Gimme A Break, Fame, Who's The Boss, ALF, Roseanne (well, the really early years, I was in my teens for over half of the run)
Ireneparalegal 08-27-2005, 06:58 PM OMG Buffy, you are young!!!! that's a compliment okay. LOL
okay, the following are the show's that remind me of my childhood:
Brady Bunch
Looney Tunes cartoons
Sigmund The Sea Monster
HR puff N stuff
Land of The Lost
Scooby Doo
Shazam!
Happy Days (9 years old)
Laverne & Shirley
Gilligan's Island
The Mothers-In-Law
I Love Lucy (reruns)
Mr. Television 08-27-2005, 07:05 PM All In The Family, Alice, ODAAT, Sanford And Son, Chico And The Man, Maude, Happy Days, Laverne And Shirley, Three's Company, Waltons, Little House On The Praire, Life And Times Of Grizzley Addams, NBC Mystery Movie, Baretta, SWAT, Police Woman, and I could go on and on.
Dean Winchester 08-27-2005, 07:11 PM I wish I had been a few years older. I remember my sister watching ODAAT but I was so young then. I didn't "discover" the show until it was on E in the mid-90's, I'd remember coming home from school and watching them. I have faint memories of Happy Days coming on after the noon news here being downstairs with my mom, but I didn't actually pay attention to it until TBS.

oh yes you reminded me of a few others: Baretta, SWAT (I loved that Italian guy) Six Million Dollar Man, Bionic Woman, Starsky & Hutch, Police Story. It was all those cop shows that made me want to be in law enforcement

Whatever other ones were on, but those were the main ones that seemed to last many years. Or just shows from the late 80's to present (I really wouldn't remember anything before that). Of course, the Simpsons too! I've been watching that show since it went on the air so I was like 5.
dawsongirl 08-28-2005, 10:47 PM Oh yeah...I grew up on Seseme Street and GUTS too.
Johnny S 08-28-2005, 11:52 PM Ohh... I remember "Beetleborgs". I think it was some kids who go inside a haunted house, and wish to some monster that they become superheroes. I was only 5 when it premiered so I may not remember some of the stuff about it. But I think "Bettleborgs" is the show I described.

That was basically it. I have not seen an episode since 1997 so I would love to have BBB on DVD. There was a guy in there that resembled Jay Leno as a clown named Flabber, and he would ALWAYS say "Wow! I'm Flabbergasted!" every time something crazy happened.
God, I miss that show.
Now I feel old. I was 23 when Sabrina ended!
I was on the verge of turning 18 when it ended.
I know Caroline Rhea left Sabrina the last season to pursue a career as a replacement talk show host for Rosie O'Donnell the season after she stepped down.
(Have I mentioned just how much I miss Rosie O'Donnell's talk show? I don't give a flying **** what anybody thinks about her...I WANT HER TALK SHOW BACK DAMMIT!)

Yeah, if Sabrina ever comes to DVD I think I'll just get the seasons that Caroline and Beth were in. You're right, it wasn't the same after they both left. :( I was a very heavy ABC watcher when it debuted in the 90's. :)
Haha, Caroline's talk show totally bombed. Funny...I remember so many things about her show.
- She always talked about being Canadian.
- Somebody sent her packaged animal dung one time...I forgot what kind of dung it was but apparently it was a coveted object to have from the place where they resided.
- She had Rosie O'Donnell on her show twice, IIRC. I think both appearances were in September 2002.
- She talked about getting married.
- She did a Christmas countdown thing and would do different things every day to count down.
- During that same time period, Caroline had somebody wheel out a GIANT Lego statue of herself every day so the audience could see how they were progressing on making a statue of her.
- She bellydanced on her show once.
Can you tell I really, Really, REALLY missed Rosie and watched Caroline heavily the one and only season she was on?
Dean Winchester 08-31-2005, 05:01 AM Now I feel old. I was 23 when Sabrina ended!
lol, so was I.
dawsongirl 09-01-2005, 04:28 PM Yeah, if Sabrina ever comes to DVD I think I'll just get the seasons that Caroline and Beth were in.
I'll get them all. I actually like the last season. Though her love for Aaron was just odd...it's like it was "Let's go to dinner" to "Marry Me I LOVE YOU!!!" in a week.
And their "explanation" (or lack thereof) for why Hilda and Zelda left was pathetic. They deserved better than that.
