Why did Michael say "Who are we gonna dump ol' Thelma on?" Thelma is already engaged to Larry. Didn't anyone tell Michael????

Good catch, Irene. But just because you're engaged don't mean you're gonna get married, as we found out at the end of season 3 in 'The Break Up'.

Yeah, I know that Craftman, but Michael didn't know that. Neither did we at the time. One assumes when one is engaged, they will be married. Ssshhhhhh...don't spill the beans abt "The Break Up". Some people might be watching the show for the first time!!!! Ah so what, who cares. LOL

Hey, it just dawned on me...the writers probably had Michael say that since they knew they were going to get rid of Larry as Thelma's fiancee. They just didn't think abt us catching that I guess.

oh, sorry Soloman, that episode reminds me of Florida not wanting James go to Alaske (oh S**T!!, here goes Irene again with that damn episode LOL). Larry gets a job in California that is promising and Thelma doesn't want to go.

But the Difference was, Larry wanted Thelma to go with him. James wanted Florida to stay in Chi-town-lol

Well, that's the difference there, obviously she couldn't go...where he was going it was in the middle of nowhere. Larry is offered something better than he can get in Chicago. Thelma could've gone with him if she really loved him. He would have his own business (gas station) and Thelma's family could've eventually moved out over there if they wanted to. Since James was complaining abt no work in Chicago, Larry and Thelma could've given the family a head's up of how things are in California. You know how family moves away, they usually let you know if there are better job prospects, better "projects" (not to be funny) bottom line, a better life. Thelma could've gone to school over there since her husband would be working and have a future. There's just so much good that could've come out of this for her. I go on and on like these people are real!!! LOL

Naw, I'm for real. I like to see how people think differently in certain situations.

Example: As strongly as you feel about the alaskan job episode, I think the episode where James was gonna go traveling with his friend Reverend Sam, the crooked Preacher, were kinda similar. James had a chance to make killer money to take care of his family and Flo didn't want him to go. I know her point was it was a scam, but is it illegal? And if not, is it worth James setting a bad example for the kids to scam people, just to make some doe. Hmmmm, what's your take?

thank you for asking my opinion on this. Let me see...in my eyes it is morally wrong to scam people. It may be illegal in certain aspects, depends on the state. $$$$ is never a good reason to put things in your kids head. then you will see them do something and they will come back at you with "You did it, why can't I?". Now you all know how I feel abt the Alaska job. That is purely my opinion. I guess it comes from pure experience. I can deal with a spouse going out of town for work. Doesn't mean I don't miss him. Doesn't mean I don't care. It just means that if my spouse is willing to do that and he talks it over with me and I see how happy he gets, I shouldn't stand in his way. But then again, I don't live in the ghetto. It's easy for me to say those things.

OK, what you said about you not living in the ghetto, maybe that's Flo's whole argument, where they lived. You think if James wasn't there, Flo could've stopped Michael from going back and getting revenge on that gang that jumped them? Remember he ended up getting in a gang and she couldn't stop him from taking that jacket back to them. But if James was there all he had to do was grab his belt buckle and Michael would have gone to his room. Ha Ha.

You think JJ would have been running numbers if James was around? I don't think so. JMO

Also, your point about money is never a good reason to put things in your kids head, that's what Flo was trying to get James to see when he tried to keep some of that money he found. Flo was like, alright James, you wanna show your kids it's ok to keep stolen money, then it should be ok for Michael to help Sweet Daddy run numbers, Thelma to "walk the streets" and for JJ to "find things".

P.S. Sorry for rambling, but this is what happens when you have tough decisions to make while trying to do the right thing in a tough situation. :)

I don't mind the rambling craftman, as you can see, i do the same thing. Too hard sometimes to put things in perspective with just a few lines. I could abbreviate, but don't know if others could understand it. Anyhow, but what abt the fact that Florida allowed Sweet Daddy to sponser JJ? Do you think she was being hypocritical there?

I really don't think she was being hypocritical, at first she didn't want JJ to do business with Sweets, but she changed her mind when they thought he just wanted to help JJ's career, so she talked James into it. It's Funny cause James used a line that sounded like Florida would say to him, "He's a Hoodlum and it would be Hoodlum money."

So I think they were just taking a chance trying to give JJ a chance.

Now while I was typing this I thought of an episode where Florida may have been hypocritical.

She was willing to let JJ work with Sweet Daddy to help his career, but she was dead set against JJ being commisioned to paint a portrait of 'The Wiggler' to maybe help his career.

She was upset at him painting her in the "nude".

That's because she thought the woman was actually going to be NUDE while posing in her living room.-lol

So which one is worse, a nekked woman in your living room, or Sweet Daddy, his thugs and Savannah in your living room.

Well, at least an idea abt putting on a bathing suit fixed that situation. You can't change the fact that a pimp, thug, drug user/pusher (?) womanizer, etc. is your choice to help your son with his art career. Still my opinion, Florida was being hypocritical in this episode.
