This isn't a joke or a funny or anything, but I just heard on the evening news about one killing (by gunshot) AND one stabbing of two different people happening inside one of our local Wal-Mart supercenters. It happened in broad daylight AND inside the store. Customers complained they heard gunshots going off!

The swat teams had to take out EVERYONE from the supercenter while they further investigate. The suspect is in custody, and the death is still under investigation if it was homocide. No word on the stabbing.

What was creepy and scary was that was the SAME Wal-Mart I shopped JUST about 1-2 hours before all of this happened. Whoa... this is just weird knowing how everything IN that store was like "normal" - customers, workers, greeters, etc, etc.... everything going on like nothing. Then I come home and hear about this? This just made it a strange and chilling day for me.

It goes to show that EVEN in a store, you HAVE to be careful about people around you. The later news will report more on what's happened with details, and I will update everyone on it as soon as I can. Anyway, shop with caution...seriously!

Yeah, that's what I was thinking.... I actually got off of work earlier today, so I was just hanging out and surfing at work. Just thinking about all those posts/replies I was writing at that "friendship" thread earlier today and then going to lunch AND going to Wal-Mart just felt weird. If I was working until my normal time, then I would've gone to Wal-Mart AFTER work, then I would've been AT that certain store at THAT time. Like things happening for a reason.... It's chilling...truly... *shudders*

Yeah, it just goes to show how we humans just go about our normal routines for everything (going to work, going home, going to the store, going here or going there), and when something out of the ordinary happens, it just feels weird... it's like, "Oh my." :(

Where did this happen? Where do you live? That's weird, it seems alot of things happen at Wal-mart stores. My daughter worked there at our city's Wal-mart and there was always a bomb threat, parking lot arguments, one parking lot argument turned into road rage with someone shot!!! Another Wal-mart in our county, a man running from the law after killing 3 people, went inside that store and everyone ran out. WEIRD!!!!!!!

Thank God you weren't around at the time Mona. Even to witness something like that is quite traumatic.

A couple of years ago, a husband went on a rampage on his wife at the local Wal-Mart in our small town. They had been in a fight the night before, she was coming out of Wal-Mart on a Saturday morning and he comes flying up at the main entrance in his pickup and runs her over - circles back and does it again - didn't care that there were families right there - or anyone. It really upset the town for a couple of years until he came to trial.

An update:

I just saw the 10:00 p.m. news with some more details. The woman who was stabbed is going to make it. She was hospitalized. According to the news, she was working behind the counter at the bakery when he went up to her and started stabbing her. She was a Wal-Mart employee.

There wasn't much info on the person who was killed, but they were shot to death. :( The people who were around the food area heard a couple of shots and thought it was stuff falling off shelves. The customers finally realized there were gunshots going off, so they were yelling to one another to run out of the store.

Weird how two separate violence events happened UNDER one roof at the same time.

*sigh* Such a sad world....

Oh my goodness. That's terrible. It's weird because we have about eight Wal-Marts here (no lie!!! We keep building more and more!), and this is the first violent act we've heard in a lonnnnnggggg time. It's sad how people find the need to take out their anger on others. :(

Our incident happened in Albuquerque, New Mexico at the southeast location Wal-Mart.

Yeah, I thought about the witness situation too. It's something I get anxious about just thinking...let alone actually participating. *bites nails*

Oh my gosh... I'm sensing a violent spouse trend here. I just learned it was almost the same thing with an angry husband going after his employee wife.

Yeah, my daughter worked in our city's Wal-mart here in Oxnard, California. Thank God she doesn't work there anymore (too much BS). It just seems that Wal-Mart is always in the news abt something crazy. Be very careful when you shop is a motto we all SHOULDN'T take lightly.

I could make a snide comment about why these things happen at Wal-Marts and not Targets, but I'll refrain.

But seriously, it seems that the clientele at WM is trashier than at Target. At least it is here. I'm not insinuating poor=trashy. But the WM people are just rude lowlifes.

Update:

Here's an article in our local paper. Quite interesting, actually... read on....

Attacker Shot to Death at Wal-Mart

Shooter Pulled a Gun After Man Stabbed Female Worker

by Lloyd Jojola

A Wal-Mart customer who saw a female employee being stabbed Thursday pulled out a gun and shot the attacker, according to police.

The violence erupted shortly after 5 p.m. at the Wal-Mart Supercenter at 301 San Mateo SE, leaving the attacker dead and the woman with multiple stab wounds, police said.

The victim and her attacker were believed to have been "domestically involved" - such as married or ex-spouses, police spokeswoman Trish Hoffman said.

The shooter had a concealed-carry gun permit, Hoffman said.

The shooter was detained for questioning, she said.

"Right now, it appears, from what witnesses are corroborating, it looks like it may be justified. None of that is confirmed yet," Hoffman said.

The attacker lay dead in the store an hour after the shooting. The woman was taken to University of New Mexico Hospital with what were called non-life-threatening stab wounds. She was in stable condition Thursday night.

The incident occured at the height of the evening commute, the store crowded with people running errands. It left some store patrons "frantic," "screaming," calling out for their children and running for the exits, said customers who were inside the store.

The incident, according to customers, occured at the store's deli section at the end souteast corner of the store, near the front.

"We were just shopping when all of a sudden we heard like the sound of an empty pallet falling down," said Bill Winzenburg, a Kansas resident in Albuquerque for a job interview.

"Then, it was boom, boom, boom!" said Winzenburg's wife, Cheryl.

"We had a couple of parents yelling to their kids, calling for their kids," Bill Winzenburg said.

"There were a lot of people screaming a lot of confusion," said Nelson Londono, a Kirtland Air Force Base airman.

Londono said he was walking by the deli section when he heard a woman scream. He also said he saw a man with a gun leaning over the deli counter. He heard at least three gunshots.

Glen Rhodes, another customer, and Londono then went to another part of the store, near the sporting goods, and then started driecting as many people through the exits as they could.

Jake Jaramillo, who was with his wife and son, was buying a backpack for his son.

"Mostly everybody was running toward the back," Jaramillo said.

"People who were running from the front to the back were saying, 'Somebody's shooting. Run, run!'"

Still, some oblivious customers continued to shop.

"When we were running towards the back, people were still shopping," Jaramillo said.

Rhodes said he told one woman, "Ma'am, just leave your cart and go!"

Dale Enggass and Brian Lewis, UNM students and dorm residents, were getting ice cream and other food when they heard "a lot of yelling."

"We kind of rushed to where it was to see what was happeing," Lewis said.

Lewis said he peeked at the deli area and saw a guy climbing over the counter.

Inititally, some customers were still crouching. "There was a lot of confusion and some scared people," Lewis said, adding that the two left the store through a storage area.

Police quickly sealed off the store and its parking lot upon arrival. Store workers and some customers, who couldn't get to their vehicles, remained while police investigated.

Apparently, the shooter who shot the attacker to death was defending an employee he didn't know. I guess the shooter thought the attacker would've killed the woman. Wow.

They're the ones that are always behind the Right to Bear Arms, when others are against people owning guns.

Wow, apparently this store didn't have metal detectors. Now I think they should get them! I work at a major league ball park and EVERYONE who comes in with a bag or purse has to get searched! Sadly, it sounds like no matter what public place you're at nowadays it's necasary to do it everywhere.
