Jinxey 08-20-2005, 01:22 PM In two episodes of Good Times, when a Shirley Temple was ordered in a restaurant or bar, someone makes a comment saying it should be called a Rodney Allen Ripple. I don't get the joke?
Who's Rodney Allen and what is ripple made of???
Brian Damage 08-20-2005, 01:33 PM Rodney Allen Rippy was a big commercial star in the early '70's. He made a famous commercial for Jack in the Box restaurant.

TVFactFan 08-20-2005, 04:19 PM Here is a Ineteresting fact from the TVreaseracher, i mean RetroTVcollector,-lol When the First episode of Good Times premeired on Feb 1, 1974, Willona makes a reference to Rodney Allen rippy and it just happen that Rodney Allen Rippy was on the Front Cover of Ebony Magazine in February of 1974.

Could have been, I know something Similar happened with the Jeffersons. When Michael was reading the Ebony Magazine with the Jeffersons on the Front cover, that was a January 1976 Issue of Ebony and that episode of Good Times was aired in January of 76.

Your question about Rodney Allen has been answered. As far as ripple, it is a cheap wine, like Manachevitz. Fred Sanford always had ripple :lol:

Thanks for the tid bit Zions Mother, I always wondered what drunk cousin Naomi meant when she said, "For Sammy Davis Jr.'s birthday it's Man-O-Manachevitz. Never heard of that before.
