I think I hear JJ and Wilona. Am I right?

So funny. I don't think JJ sung any of the song.

But I was watching some show the other day and realized that if you watch a show enough, the theme song will sound like some of the characters are singing it.

Yeah...I thought of that too.

The line "Anytime you need a friend..." sounds like Willona...

"Scratching and surviving" sounds like JJ

"Haning in a chow line" sounds like Thelma

I always thought Bookman sang the song.

It's not really known who sang the theme song, I've never been able to find out.

We posted on another thread who actually sings the theme song, Jim Gilstrap and Blinky Williams. The only name that is not mentioned is the name of the gospel choir that lends it's voices to the song.

It sure sounded like them, didn't it. I used to think that when I was a child watching it. Same goes for the Jeffersons and the Brady Bunch.

this question reminds of when it was thought that Lawrence Hilton Jacobs of Welcome Back Kotter sang the theme to the show. It sure sounded like him. And to think, it was a white guy all along!!

I always thought it was James(John Amos) singing, especially when I heard the lyrics, "Scratchin and Survivin'". Also, when I was really young, I thought the guy riding the bike at the end of the credits was also John Amos. Oh, well . . .

Now that's funny. Isn't it amazing how funny things are when we look back at what we thought as a child.

Yeah, I also thought that it was John Amos and Janet DuBois singing the theme song.

When I was a kid I was convinced it was the cast singing it.

I thought John Amos did Temporary Layoffs.

And Bern Nadette getting the next line ect ect.

Man, this is so cool! I didn't know that anyone thought this too. I also thought that one of the boys running (the boy wearing the black pants) was Michael. COOL! WOW! Good times fans thinkin' alike. ;-)

 I thought I was the only one that noticed that, Irene! Me and my brother once thought that he sanged the part, "Tease him a lot because we got him on the spot, Welcome Back!" Man, we all think the same thing!
