Sincerely, Ken Hahn (Not the Ken Hahn associated with Sony Pictures) Sorry to be the barer of bad news but it sounds like to me that Disney has got you now. I know a couple of people who have been sued by Disney. Don't be surprised if you have legal court papers delivered to you at your home in the next few months for copyright infringement. Disney has been watching Ebay for this type of stuff. That I know for a fact!!! Mel phiberosmosis 08-03-2005, 04:55 PM its not disney its just this guy emailing disney. whaat i dont get is if the care so much about this why isnt eeek even in syndacation anymore or on dvd it just seems like such a waste. i doubt disney will come after me but if they do ok. Lamont 08-03-2005, 05:27 PM Hi there a word to the wise 1. If you get a warning like that, DO NOT relist the item and lay low 2. NEVER mess with Disney! Disney and HBO are 2 that really keep an eye out on ebay for stuff like that, it is rare, but sometimes people do get sued over stuff like that, most liekly a fine of a few thousand $s is what happens, but dont mess with it, there is so much old stuff out there that noone cares about, so i recommend, never, never ever, never do Disney stuff on ebay! If it were me, I would close that ebay account and email address associated with it, and then do not relist that item again, to be careful, they might not do anything, but you never know! Lamont 08-03-2005, 05:27 PM what is the USER ID of that guy on ebay? lgriffie 08-03-2005, 05:30 PM No offense, but I can't believe you are selling bootleged DVDs on ebay in the first place. I have heard of so many people getting fined big time that it is not even worth the money. I would be scared to do this Lamont 08-03-2005, 05:40 PM At any given time they are TONS of collector copies on ebay, 99% of the sellers will never have an issue--- GENERALLY most action is taken over A) Bootlegged copies of legit releases (for example a burned copy of a movie that just came out for real) or B) Bootleg copies of new movies still in theatres or not released on dvd/vhs yet. 99% of sellers of collector to collector copies of old tv shows and rare movies that have not been officially released will have no issues--_BUT EVEN THEN, there are times when someone does go after you, and I have seen that most of the time Disney and HBO are most likely to make an issue. So if you do sell, avoid Disney and HBO items and try to use some common sense... I mean you are more likely to have problems with a recent show that might come out on dvd in the near future, than an old show from the 50s that will never see an official release. Just be careful out there... Agent 13 08-03-2005, 05:55 PM I've heard that Abbott and Costello shows/movies should also be avoided. I once tried selling an almost complete set of Leave it to Beaver (videos) on ebay. I was informed by eBay that if I tried that again I would be banned. phiberosmosis 08-03-2005, 05:56 PM franknstein911 is his user name he has another im not sure what though he is from washington i thgink phiberosmosis 08-03-2005, 05:58 PM No offense, but I can't believe you are selling bootleged DVDs on ebay in the first place. I would be scared to do this im doing it for profit just to support my hobby i know that is no excuse but hey....i also want all the fans of eek to get this show. i spent alot of time making this set and want to share it with alot of eek fans mele503 08-03-2005, 06:20 PM im doing it for profit just to support my hobby i know that is no excuse but hey....i also want all the fans of eek to get this show. i spent alot of time making this set and want to share it with alot of eek fans Looks like this guy franknstein911 is a real jerkoff. Looking at his only feedback shows he is a rat. He has made comments about people pirating for as long as he has been a member. He could very well have turned this over to Disney. Disney does not play games and yes they are suing people off of Ebay for shows that have been recorded off of TV and made into a set. It does not matter how old the show is either. Just my 2 sents worth. Mel phiberosmosis 08-03-2005, 06:24 PM u know it makes me so mad they get mad at people for bootlegging. now its one thing if u are making tons of money but the fact is that they just sit on all our favorite shows it takes them so long to release them or they dont at all. this board wouldnt even be neccesarry if dvd companys cared about the consumer look at all the pettions to get shows on dvd that go unanswered by disney and the such  mele503 08-03-2005, 06:33 PM u know it makes me so mad they get mad at people for bootlegging. now its one thing if u are making tons of money but the fact is that they just sit on all our favorite shows it takes them so long to release them or they dont at all. this board wouldnt even be neccesarry if dvd companys cared about the consumer look at all the pettions to get shows on dvd that go unanswered by disney and the such  I just did a little more investigating on this guy but the first comment to a former member which is no longer valid name is the2ndhandstore(dot)com. Guess what show it was that he left feedback as it was an illegal copy and violated Ebay's policies. EEK THE CAT ON VCD! This was over 2 years ago. Also looks like two other member names of jill_burger and eastlakezoo was him to because they all have -1 and left the exact same feedback. phiberosmosis 08-03-2005, 06:51 PM jill_burger is him that is the other user name i guess he doesnt like eek the cat huh i wonder y maybe he was involved in the making of it ken hahn is his name Flying Dutchman 08-04-2005, 12:24 AM u know it makes me so mad they get mad at people for bootlegging. now its one thing if u are making tons of money but the fact is that they just sit on all our favorite shows it takes them so long to release them or they dont at all. this board wouldnt even be neccesarry if dvd companys cared about the consumer look at all the pettions to get shows on dvd that go unanswered by disney and the such  Yes I do agree with you I have the love boat on dvd taken from vhs and I check TV.com all the time and still this show is not even being considered for DVD release anytime soon. phiberosmosis 08-04-2005, 01:16 AM Yes I do agree with you I have the love boat on dvd taken from vhs and I check TV.com all the time and still this show is not even being considered for DVD release anytime soon. altough im not fan of the lovebat there are many many shows that i wish were on dvd that arent like the snl seasons Chazshady 08-04-2005, 01:36 AM Also never sell any of Vince McMahon's stuff on ebay, his people are all over ebay even though for some reason they miss a ton of auctions but then other people who list even one thing get the crap sued or of them..... Tvo 08-04-2005, 02:24 AM There are alot of ppl on ebay with no lives. They just hover around all day everyday and just report stuff. It gives them some sense of purpose in life because otherwise they'd have to go back to their miserable lives of doing nothing. Just report him to ebay using their online forms and he'll be suspended before you do. Works everytime. He violated the TOS by bidding on your item. At best your item will simply be taken down. I'm not sure if I agree with Disney cracking down on ebay. I see a ton of disney stuff on ebay and nothing happens. mele503 08-04-2005, 04:57 AM There are alot of ppl on ebay with no lives. I'm not sure if I agree with Disney cracking down on ebay. I see a ton of disney stuff on ebay and nothing happens. I think Disney has done some stuff because there used to be a lot of auctions and people selling the following sets and now there is either none at all or just 1 or 2 people. I know it is not because of the demand or want for it is less either. Darkwing Duck Duck Tales Talespin Chip N Dale The Rescue Rangers It may just be these shows in particular though. I have not checked any others. Just because you see people on there with stuff does not mean "nothing happens". They cannot deal with everyone at the same time and I believe that are attacking it from a show to show basis and 1 person at a time. I think it all will be eventually done away with. I would not report them if you are still selling this and other shows like this because that will bring attention to yourself even more then what he probably already has. If you have not gotten any warnings or any of your auctions ended yet by Ebay then get out while yo can and hopefully and luckily Disney will not catch up with you. Get while the getting is good so to speak. It will just make it worse but if it were me I would not be selling at all after especially this guy has done this to you then you are really welcoming trouble to hit you. In the long run those extra few bucks are not going to be worth the stress or headache of having to deal with Disney themselves. I know people that has had this happen to and Disney did contact them a few months later after they had not sold a thing on there and they were served legal papers by a courier directly to their home for copyright infringements. They got there personal info all from Ebay without them even knowing it or being a registered user anymoe. Besides wanting money for damages they also demanded the equipment that they made the discs on like their computer or duplicator. So money is not just the target for them it is getting your equipment as well. Mel tdubel 08-04-2005, 08:37 AM While selling any type of "bootleg" is a gray area, do not get too worked up over it. Disney is a corporate giant and when they send their nastygrams to you, that is just what they are. Most people get scared and choose not to fight it and settle, which is what they are looking for (1. they got you to stop, 2. it cost them very little and they may even get some money from you). I know at least one person who had papers served decided to fight a little and guess what, it blew over, a little irritation and they basically said DO NOT DO IT AGAIN and that was that. So best practice is do not sell the sets period on ebay as all it does is attract attention, but don't give in either right away if you do get caught, remember, this is America, land of the court systems that are cumbersome and unfair to both sides, not just the accused!!! Same guy. However selling on eBay, ioffer and other auctions is dumb. All you 2005 trading newbies need to quit that stuff, you are asking for trouble, and you may endanger all those around you. If trading "costs too much" then trade slower. Of course thats for the DVDs copied from like monday night raw, mcmahon cant sue for the store bought dvds I know I sold the history of wrestlemania s 1 through 9 and that is legal to do, although I cant seem to find any WWF videos for sale anywhere people who have them dont want to part with them. phiberosmosis 08-04-2005, 06:49 PM Look here: http://eekstinction.tvheaven.com It's a fan that's trying to get Eek released.
