Was the addition of Martha Raye as Mel's mother necessary? Some fans I know of the show did not like her at all and felt she was an instrusion to the cast of Alice. They thought she wasn't funny and that she was obnoxious.
I didn't have no problems with her when I watched the show as a kid, but if I saw some Martha Raye episodes now as an adult she might annoy me. Back then I never knew she was a popular movie star and funny lady. To me she was the Polident Lady who was on Alice. ;)

We are fans of the show. Haven't you heard of sarcasm? You don't have a sense of humor enough to bash things you do like? Everybody does it to some degree. Don't be so sensitive, Jeek!

No, Martha Raye is long gone. I heard the sales of Polident took a deep decline as well.
