I'm the one who originally posted the clip. From what I heard, the person in the clip isn't a real boy. He is just a character in some short indie film.

It was real but digitally "enhanced" so he would contort in his wheelchair. It was offensive to some - more because of its disturbing content. Remember, this is a PG-13 site and there are younger "audience" members that it was just not appropriate for.

I've seen things on rotten.com all the time and I have no problem with it but that video was just plain sick and exploited handicapped people with similar conditions.

Actually, I think it is a handicap, for the simple fact that obesity often brings a lot of other health problems with it.

But that kid in the avatar seems happy enough. And he's clearly getting plenty of exercise, with all that jumping around! So it's all good!

It isn't a handicap by definition because it brings on other health problems. A handicap is a permanent issue within itself. ;)

You could say the same about anorexia, bulimia, smoking, excessive drinking, and general laziness if that were the case.

The avatar was from a few years ago. My husband found it and has used it on his IM. We just couldn't get him to "jump" until I figured it out a couple of weeks ago.

i was simply making a recommendation before another person on this board called you a hypocrite. and no i do not think an overweight child is handicapped but i think obesity is a form of disability. the child in your avatar can be viewed as an obese child with some sort of mental handicap.

but if you're still angry about my post, i'll be an adult about it and say sorry.
