View Full Version : WTF Did Janet See In Phillip Chain Gang Member 07-18-2005, 01:14 PM His face looked like he got punched in the face into the street and got hit by a steem roller :brent dlemond 07-18-2005, 01:21 PM His face looked like he got punched in the face into the street and got hit by a steem roller :brent Well, you have to understand (and I'm sure you do) that this is why most fans are totally ticked off at the way the series ended. The writers needed an out out for Janet and this is what they came up with. He seemed to genuinely like her and be all defiant in front of the family- a sitcom trademark device to indicate love. So maybe we are supposed to believe he saw her for a genuinely sweet person and she saw him for someone who believed in her. TVFactFan 07-18-2005, 01:25 PM His face looked like he got punched in the face into the street and got hit by a steem roller :brent Janet was at the age where looks wasn;t important, only stability-lol LuLu Rogers 07-18-2005, 01:35 PM Janet was at the age where looks wasn;t important, only stability-lol In the words of Janet: "You are a male shovinist oink! Oink Oink Oink!" Just because Janet was older, doesn't mean that she felt she had to get married to the first guy she met! Give me a break! You think when women reach a certain age they become "old maids" and that's a load of crap! I Love John Ritter 07-18-2005, 09:16 PM My guess is that the producers were too caught up in starting "Three's A Crowd" that they didn't think about even finding a nice looking actor to play Phillip. Janet Tripper 07-18-2005, 10:21 PM I think he was so icky too!!! Just like the other Icky! He was no where near handsome maybe a nice guy but that was all. I think the producers were way to into TAC that they didn't care about anything else....take Terri for example ...she didn't even get a good ending w/someone to spend the rest of her life w/!!! The ending sucks!! Mr. Television 07-18-2005, 10:31 PM I think he was so icky too!!! Just like the other Icky! He was no where near handsome maybe a nice guy but that was all. I think the producers were way to into TAC that they didn't care about anything else....take Terri for example ...she didn't even get a good ending w/someone to spend the rest of her life w/!!! The ending sucks!! Thats pretty much what they did. Terri got the short end of the straw in the final. She didn't even mention she was going to Hawaii until the last 15 minutes and it came out of the blue. Larry and Furley didn't even have it as good as her. Furley was left at the apartment alone and who knows where Larry went. He appeared on Three's A Crowd but it never mentioned what he had been up to. If he and Furley were still living at the apartment building it made no sense that they didn't visit Jack's Bistro since they had always visited there on Three's Company. Larry did visit Jack once in "Three's A Crowd" in the episode "Deed's Of Trust", but Furley never did. I agree, it didn't make sense that Furley never visited, and that Larry only visited once. Heart Shaped Box 07-18-2005, 10:54 PM Larry did visit Jack once in "Three's A Crowd" in the episode "Deed's Of Trust", but Furley never did. I agree, it didn't make sense that Furley never visited, and that Larry only visited once. Maybe Don Knotts didn't want to guest star on TAC maybe? Who knows.. Janet Tripper 07-18-2005, 11:05 PM Maybe Don Knotts didn't want to guest star on TAC maybe? Who knows.. Maybe...I KNOW I WOULDN'T!!! ! Not after being treated like that! Mr. Television 07-18-2005, 11:31 PM The way I read it back then was that the whole cast was fired except for John Ritter and Richard Kline would make guest appearances. Of course he only guest starred once before TAC was canceled. Also I read in an article that if TAC got renewed Vicki and Jack were slated to get married in the opening episodes of season 2. Janet Tripper 07-18-2005, 11:51 PM Well I am very glad they didn't make it to season 2...I would hate to see pix of them two getting marry! LuLu Rogers 07-19-2005, 12:13 AM The thing that was so horrible to me is what I read about in the TC book. At the beginning of the last season, before they started shooting, they gave the cast a 2 week vacation. When they came back, John Ritter, Mary Cadorette and Robert Mandan were already rehersing for TAC on the TC set. Joyce, Priscilla, Richard and Don hadn't even been told that it would be TC's last season. John had nothing to do with it though and he apologized to his cast mates. The producers really pulled a dirty trick on the cast! Janet Bower 07-19-2005, 12:30 AM well i think hes totally gross too...she has dated better...not much...but it would have been good to see her with david winthrop if she couldnt be with jack...i mean come on, at least give the girl a nice, sweet, rich, hot guy...that likes her and has known her for a little longer...i mean at least we know who the heck he is! and as for the guest starring roles on tac....i find it stupid that larry was the only one to do it....i mean janet did say that she would be in the same city...so why wouldnt she EVER see jack...were they or were they not best friends...come on...and like she would never go to his restaurant! ya right! that is so dumb! the whole ending sucked and they just like totally dropped the show at the end! very disappointing...but ill get over it..lol  McFly121 07-19-2005, 01:00 AM Actually, Joyce did make one appearance on TAC. She came to the apartment to visit Jack if I recall correctly. The E! THS had Joyce saying the same thing, coming back from vacation and seeing the new folks. Felt betrayed. Sure Philip was no Brad Pitt, but looks aren't everything. And did anyone notice that Philip's best man was at the will reading, the pompous tennis player who said "Here for the grab bag, too?" As some have said, the TC finale seemed rushed and they probly said "We need a best man! Call the tennis bum!" I think the producer realized it and that's why it was canceled!! That and the booing fans who loved TC!! *Pleasant Tomorrow* 07-19-2005, 01:51 AM Bleh she didn't see anything in Phillip. The producers forced her to marry him. :snob: I Love John Ritter 07-19-2005, 02:19 AM I totally agree with you!!! I think the producer realized it and that's why it was canceled!! That and the booing fans who loved TC!! I love "Three's Company", but I like "Three's A Crowd". Not nearly as much as "Three's Company" of course, but I do like it, and I didn't think it was a horrible show. Mr. Television 07-19-2005, 02:28 AM I totally agree with you!!! I think the producer realized it and that's why it was canceled!! That and the booing fans who loved TC!! TAC's ratings weren't that bad. If it aired today it would be considered a hit. It was about to get renewed when ABC changed its mind at the last minute and decided to pick up the canceled NBC sitcom Diff'rent Strokes instead. Vicious Voodoo 07-19-2005, 08:10 AM Dont knock Philip he went on to host "Supermarket Sweep" TVFactFan 07-19-2005, 12:01 PM In the words of Janet: "You are a male shovinist oink! Oink Oink Oink!" Just because Janet was older, doesn't mean that she felt she had to get married to the first guy she met! Give me a break! You think when women reach a certain age they become "old maids" and that's a load of crap! For men and women, once you get 45 and older, looks is no longer important. Not saying u would grab a creature but looks won;t matter the way they did when you were 25 vs 45. I'm 30 and I'm not as picky as i was 10 years ago. So u change with age. So was janet supposed to say-"i don;t want to marry phillip because he is not cute"-lol TVFactFan 07-19-2005, 12:02 PM TAC's ratings weren't that bad. If it aired today it would be considered a hit. Phillip looked like ESPN's Dan Patrick's Older Brother-lol Janet Bower 07-19-2005, 12:50 PM Dont knock Philip he went on to host "Supermarket Sweep"  Terri Cardellini 07-19-2005, 01:34 PM Dont knock Philip he went on to host "Supermarket Sweep" ya that's a good show :D  TVFactFan 07-19-2005, 01:37 PM Actually, Joyce did make one appearance on TAC. I just received the episode in the mail of when janet makes her one and only apperance on Three's a Crowd. It was a good episode, kind of like the one when Larry guest starred on Three's a Crowd I Love John Ritter 07-19-2005, 01:55 PM Actually, Joyce did make one appearance on TAC. The only people that guest starred on "Three's A Crowd" that came on "Three's Company" were Richard Kline and Teresa Ganzel (Greedy Gretchen). They both guest starred on the same episode. Mr. Television 07-19-2005, 02:05 PM She never did. I didn't think so. The only time I remember her even being mentioned on TAC was in a roundabout way when Larry mentioned that Jack used to live with 2 women. Except for that episode it was like the years on TC never happened. I Love John Ritter 07-19-2005, 02:08 PM I didn't think so. I was just having a little fun with the poster who said Janet appeared on TAC-lol McFly121 07-19-2005, 03:33 PM Hmm, could've sworn turning to my family and going "Look, it's Janet!" Maybe it was "Look, it's Larry!" I was only about 10 but coulda swoooore it was Janet. :( TVFactFan 07-19-2005, 03:42 PM Hmm, could've sworn turning to my family and going "Look, it's Janet!"
