View Full Version : Interesting thing about Janet....
LuLu Rogers 07-13-2005, 09:24 PM If you watch the first two seasons of TC, Janet seems feminin, yet somewhat tomboyish, and she kind of has a Broncish/New York accent. In the later years, she seems very girly, very sensitive, less trusting of Jack, and her accent goes away. She sure did change a lot! LOL! Don't get me wrong, Janet is my favorite female character on the show, I just don't like the way she acted toward Jack in some of the later episodes. For example, in "The Charming Stranger" she was really rude to Jack by rubbing the British guy(forgot his name. LOL!) in Jack's face. She could have been a little more kind about it. She was also very snippy with him in "Janet Shapes Up" when she wouldn't even let him explain about Tina. The old Janet seemed a little more understanding. This is all just my opinion. What do you guys think?
Kristen J. 07-13-2005, 09:44 PM You have a good point there! :D I agree with everything you said. I liked her in earlier seasons. She was so laid back and later on she seemed more tense. It was also like she couldn't take a joke later on in late seasons. Like you said, the old Janet was more understanding. ;)
Number 9 Dream 07-13-2005, 09:46 PM I noticed that as well...I also notice Jack become more on edge when he got that Bistro....work-related stress? :p :D
LuLu Rogers 07-13-2005, 09:55 PM I noticed that as well...I also notice Jack become more on edge when he got that Bistro....work-related stress? :p :D
I noticed that too! Maybe it's because Janet and Terri were kind of mean to him sometimes! LOL! He needed to exert some testosterone!(I'm horrible at spelling!)
Heart Shaped Box 07-13-2005, 09:58 PM Yeah I think Janet did become a little bit more tense I guess. Maybe that proves that people change when they get older. :(

*grabs the couch like Jack does in "Up In The Air* Not me! I'm not changing! ohno: ;)
Kristen J. 07-13-2005, 10:27 PM *grabs the couch like Jack does in "Up In The Air* Not me! I'm not changing! ohno: ;)LOL! That's good, cause you're really sweet! And I'm not changing either!! :D

Aww Thanks! :D No one should have to change! *raises fist* LOL!
I Love John Ritter 07-13-2005, 10:31 PM I remember reading in Come And Knock On Our Door that Joyce wanted to loose Janet's character up a bit, and I think that's why her character changed so much. Janet is my favorite female character (tied with Chrissy) and I liked her throughout all the seasons regardless of how tense her character was. I also noticed that in the later season she had more of an attitude with Jack, but personally, I thought it was hilarious! I  every time she yells at him and Jack looks like he's scared of her! LOL! For example, in "And Baby Makes Two" when she yells at him at the end for thinking she was trying to hire a father for her "baby", he shrinks down in the sofa! :brent
Kristen J. 07-13-2005, 10:38 PM Aww Thanks! :D No one should have to change! *raises fist* LOL!  LOL! I agree!
JJ4EVER 07-13-2005, 10:40 PM OMG I was just thinking how Janet is so mean to Jack later. Especially in "The Charming Stranger"!!! I just saw it today and thought how mean she and Terri were being to Jack. I kind of felt sad for him.
Janet Tripper 07-14-2005, 12:19 AM I think that Janet was always the one in control or at least she tried to be b/c Jack was always getting into trouble and she just felt she needed to keep everyone up like a mom or something! I totally love it when she gets onto Jack b/c I know he tries to be sweet about it and then we sometimes have JJ moments!! The show needed that balance! So I wouldn't change her ...I think she was fun all throughtout ...Jack though did seem more stressed at the end w/the bistro like everything bother him like Larry would try to say something funny or something and sometimes he was just to worry about the Bistro! I really don't lilke those epi very much! Anyhow JMO!
TVFactFan 07-14-2005, 09:11 AM I didn't like how they trreated Jack either. especially in the episode when Maria's cousin was in Jack's room. Here is my question, why was janet and terri bothered by a woman being in Jack's room?-lol They wasn;t going to give him any affection so why did it matter who was in his room. Same thing when they caught jack in his room over the restarunt and Terri and Janet to surprise him but saw the girl inside. What business was it of theirs to know who was in his room OVER the Bistro

They wanted to suprise him with stuff to make him feel more relaxed when he had to stay there when he was working late. They were trying to be good friends.I think it would be very nice for them to do that for me if I was in Jack's place

Being a good friend was fine but they still didn;t have a right to get upset because a woman was in his room. They were not his girlfriends, only friends.
Chain Gang Member 07-14-2005, 10:15 AM If you were talking about Daphne in "The Apartment",the reason they got mad is because they were helping him out by getting his stuff and he said that he didn't have a woman up in that apartment and when they found him with Daphne, they thought he lied to them

But they never gave him a chance to explain why she was there. As soon as they saw her hey both reacted in a way a girlfriend would in that situation. What they should have done is spoke to her and introduce theirself instead throwing things around.
Chain Gang Member 07-14-2005, 11:40 AM Because they spent all or at most of the day doing stuff for him so he can get some rest. They thought that they did all of that so Jack can be upstairs with a girl. That's why.And that's the bottom line, cuz I said so

You and I actually agree here Solomon! :D I love Janet to death, but Jack is my FAVORITE character, so seeing him getting treated like crap in some of the episodes toward the end was a little hard to swallow. I guess one of the one's that bothers me the most about how he was treated was actually one of my favorite episodes, "A Night Not To Remember." The thing that bothers me is, you have Jack here, he's very sick, but he's nice enough to help Janet out by going out with her, even though he feels terrible. That's just Jack for you. (Which I love about him! LOL!) Anyway, yes, he does get drunk, but Janet could have told the waitress not to bring him anymore drinks before he got to that point. She knew he was sick and didn't need to be drinking. Then, she gets angry with him for breaking her grandmother's vase when she was the one who made him go out with her and she was the one who let him get drunk. I'm not trying to be negative against Janet because, again, I love her character. I just don't see how you can justify her being angry with poor Jack when it was basically all her fault in the first place. JMO.

Chain Gang Member 07-14-2005, 03:23 PM So you're the son of a player that's on a team that doesn't like the Eagles?
TVFactFan 07-14-2005, 03:47 PM So you're the son of a player that's on a team that doesn't like the Eagles?
No I'm saying you like the Janet character a lot. Your liking for Janet Wood is equal to my HATE for the Eagles. That's what I was saying
Chain Gang Member 07-14-2005, 04:07 PM Yeah,I noticed that too.BTW at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three's_Company, it said that when Terri was part of TC,the show got less complaints about the portryal of blondes

Oh,but I don't Janet as much as I like Terri ;)
Vegas Girl 07-14-2005, 05:49 PM Janet is rude to Jack when he's trying to say something...."I don't think...." and she butts in and says, "That's your problem, Jack, you don't think."

I've noticed that too. Good observation Vegas Girl! :D

You have a good point there, but even IF he had a girl, so what? In my opinion, it seemed like they overreacted a bit.
Janet Bower 07-15-2005, 08:07 AM well the one thing with three's company is that u cannot analyze it to death cuz nothing adds up...alot of stuff doesnt make sense...so when ur asking urself y janet cuts jack off...u have to think that it made it more funny and last longer...if u dont then ya it kinda makes janet seem not so nice at times...but if u r going to analyze it..then ya i would be pretty ticked if i did all that and felt bad for him having to be by himself when he wasnt...and dont think jack didnt have his time to butt in cuz he did...when he THOUGHT janet was dating a married man...thats her business...but he went and punched the guy out...putting aside the fact that it was randys husband. i personally liked her from seasons 4-8...she got attitude, guts, spoke her mind, and ya became an actual character...not some setting. and hey someone had to keep jack in line ;) lol
