View Full Version : some news I think you might be glad to know
Dean Winchester 07-11-2005, 10:02 PM I was looking at Home Theater Forum and a WTB fan there posted that one of her friends emailed Sony, and instead of the standard emails, actually received a "Sony is planning to have season two out by year end, but no confirmed date as of yet". I felt like mentioning it because I know how much you guys have been wanting more WTB on DVD and until now, there hadn't really been much word from Sony.
spunkygirl 07-11-2005, 10:27 PM Yeah I saw that, I hope it's true. I honestly don't believe that Season 1 sold that poorly. I think it sold enough to warrant future releases. The show does have quite a following even now :)
mlingerfelt 07-11-2005, 11:06 PM I think seaon 2 will sell good and before long we will have S3 sony always slow.
EmoJoe 07-12-2005, 10:28 AM :woohoo: That means we'll have all seasons out by 2012! ;) (at this rate)
But thats awesome news. Season 2 was a great season..but I hope they have better special features this time. They should have cast commentaries :)

It didnt sell poorly, I heard that it sold well, Sony is just slow, not just with WTB but with other shows as well

Dean Winchester 07-12-2005, 04:41 PM Sony really sucks for all shows besides Seinfeld. Now I love Seinfeld and I'm glad they're releasing them very quickly, but Sony has one of the best TV libraries of any company and they treat their shows like crap. It's sad because so many of my childhood favorites are owned by the company.
Paramount is highly criticized, but they seem to know how to do TV right and they seem committed to their shows (even though they've been doing too slow with Happy Days, Laverne And Shirley and Mork And Mindy). Just compare how they've released 2 seasons of Taxi (Tony Danza's OTHER big show) and season 3 is following shortly and Paramount's already guarenteed we'll see seasons 4 and 5 eventually, all in the span of time since WTB season 1 came out. Paramount generally seems more committed to following through while Sony seems to release a show than forget about it for years.
spunkygirl 07-12-2005, 04:44 PM Sometimes I wonder if Sony does this on purpose, maybe they want to put such a long wait between seasons, that maybe they hope people forget about said show, and then they won't have to spend the money to release the rest of that show :( Just a thought
ClassicTVGal 07-12-2005, 06:44 PM Oh I so hope this is true. I have been waiting so long for it.. just like all the other fans. And the girl I've been watching 9and known for years) keeps asking me, "When is Season 2 Coming out? Any news?" And now I can tell her too! ;) yay.. .let's just really hope it's a true fact.
ClassicTVGal 07-13-2005, 12:29 PM Wait, a second. I just thought of something last night or early this morning...
Did the person say that Sony told them it could be out by the end of the year? Becasue that is what they've been telling people now, and no date is still set... and I know you said that and also the thing about it not being a standard E-mail, but I'm not so sure now.

No im pretty sure its not a standererd email, the standererd one is used for all shows, while they actually mention "season 2" here
alienkattuk 07-17-2005, 01:34 PM :woohoo: That means we'll have all seasons out by 2012! ;) (at this rate)
:)
By that time, I will be SIX FEET UNDER! lol
ClassicTVGal 07-18-2005, 10:20 PM No im pretty sure its not a standererd email, the standererd one is used for all shows, while they actually mention "season 2" here
All right, thanks. :)
EmoJoe 07-18-2005, 10:38 PM All right, thanks. :)
Plus, Sony is releasing loads of sitcom DVDs from Oct-Dec, so im thinking (and hoping) that one of them is WTB S2
ClassicTVGal 07-19-2005, 02:54 PM Great...same here. Where did you get this info? And hopefully it will be here for my Birthday or Christmas. (which is the same month, lol)
BrownEyedGirl523 07-19-2005, 04:24 PM Actually, that was posted at HTF, and Dave Lambert from TvShowsonDVD.com said that that was a standard reply, and doesn't really mean much. :( Too bad, I really want to own ALL of WTB? (Considering how N@N LOVES to give crappy edits...grr.)

N@N actually isn't bad on the editing side, at least, not as bad as ABC Family.
I'm still not giving up hope though, Pav said that he thinks Oct-Dec will be a big sitcom time for Sony. I mean, they gotta release it sometime.

Pav ;)
spunkygirl 07-19-2005, 06:21 PM Yeah people thought there was no hope of the Jeffersons Season 3 ever getting a release and it did, so I believe there's hope for more WTB ;)

Yeah, I honestely do believe we'll be seeing Season 2, i dont know when, but sometime.
Actually I think eventually we'll have the whole series, it may be years from now, but we'll eventually have it.
Too bad WTB? isn't owned by a faster company.
spunkygirl 07-19-2005, 06:28 PM I wish WTB was owned by Anchor Bay, they release all seasons of shows even if the sales aren't spectacular :)

Cool, thats what I think every company should do. But I do believe that WTB? sold decently.
This ia fantastic news!!!!!!!! I still need to get season one on dvd though. :o
mlingerfelt 08-13-2005, 09:20 AM HAS THERE BEEN A RELEASE DATE YET FOR S2.
ClassicTVGal 08-13-2005, 03:05 PM HAS THERE BEEN A RELEASE DATE YET FOR S2.
Sadly, No. :(
EmoJoe 08-14-2005, 03:37 PM Sadly, No. :(
Pav said he predicts it to be released in Dec-Jan, but thats just what he thinks.
ClassicTVGal 08-14-2005, 08:16 PM Pav said he predicts it to be released in Dec-Jan, but thats just what he thinks.
Well they asked about a date, that is why I said no. But yeah, I knew about the month thing.
BrownEyedGirl523 11-24-2005, 01:04 PM Doesn't look like Dec-Jan will happen...maybe by Spring of 2006? GIVE US MORE WTB SONY!!!!!!!!
mlingerfelt 11-24-2005, 04:57 PM wasn,t there talk about May.
ClassicTVGal 11-24-2005, 07:21 PM wasn,t there talk about May.
Haven't heard that one. I know that is when N@N will stop airing the show. I really hope TVLAND picks it up at some point!!
greelywinger 11-24-2005, 09:11 PM Gimme A Break season one is being released on February 14, 2006.
A show that I didn't think stood a snowball's chance in Hell of ever being released. Mainly because the show has never been in steady syndication.
The last time it was rerun was about 10 years ago on the USA network.
So if they can put GAB out on DVD, they should have WTB up to season
3-4 by now. Come on get with it Sony. :soapbox:
spunkygirl 11-24-2005, 09:20 PM Gimme A Break is being released by Universal that's a big difference, but Universal is just as bad with continuing releases as Sony is ohno:
EmoJoe 11-26-2005, 01:04 AM wasn,t there talk about May.
I think so, but ehhh I dont think it'll ever be released. I've given up on it -_- lol
angel676 12-02-2005, 05:19 PM Any word yet of when Season 2 might be released?
ClassicTVGal 12-02-2005, 08:25 PM Any word yet of when Season 2 might be released?
No. Not yet.
WhoStheBoss_Fan 12-08-2005, 08:39 AM lets keep all our fingers crossed on this!!!!!!!
kate1389 01-26-2006, 03:12 PM so does that mean sonys reply to ur friend meant nothing?? cuz i got all excited till i read the thing about tvshowsondvd.com
mlingerfelt 02-03-2006, 04:27 PM well they finally released S2 of DS. they should release S2 of WTB.
BrownEyedGirl523 02-10-2006, 05:24 PM So it's likely that we will never see season 2 of WTB?
mlingerfelt 02-10-2006, 05:42 PM Lindsay I believe we will in time soon as Sony quits dragging their feet.
freshprinceofLA 02-11-2006, 05:58 AM wtb did sell decent or at least enough to show that people want another season release. but i dont think that matters wether it sold great or not i mean come on sony is totaly rich by the sucessful sales of their tv's, play stations, dvds and other electronics. they are just too lazy i mean if who's the boss? sea. 2 doesent sell well they got nothin to lose! sony is just to dumb and lazy on dvd releases!
mlingerfelt 04-23-2006, 01:07 PM I know S2 would sell good.
