is there a place on the web that lists all of the UM cases AND THEIR LATEST UPDATES? kane (and others) do a great job of posting updates but it seems like there is no central repository for the updates. hence, people keep posting questions about cases we discussed on this board a week or a month before.

does something like this already exist? if so, where is it and can we have a permanant link to it. i looked around for it but must be missing it, if it does exist.

thanks.

kane, do you say probably not because it takes too much time or isn't technically feasible or...? if there were a list of all the cases, one per thread, then people couple post URLs to article, DOE network files, etc. or they could post actual text from news articles. it would NOT be a place to submit opinions or "this is such a sad case, i hope they find the guy who did it" messages.

i feel like you put in a lot of time (along with others) to update cases (like the randolph dial case). but, in a month someone will post a "whatever happened in the search for randolph dial and bobbi parker?"

I apologize for asking about the Bobbie Parker case. I honestly did not know whether or not it was solved.

I just haven't come across any site that lists literally every UM case and update. Nevertheless, there are sites that list a good number of cases featured on the show. For example, the Doe Network lists a lot of missing persons and John/Jane Doe cases that UM profiled.

I just don't know of any UM site that lists every single case the series profiled, or if one even exists. Maybe someone will consider developing such a site. But for now, we'll have to look at numerous other sites that list cases that happen to include ones that were profiled on UM.

kane, we could surely build such a site using the episode guide that is linked above. or, even if we just captured each update you did, over the course or time, we'd have tons of episodes catagorized.

what do you think?

Well, I imagine that Echoes of Fear's site could put it up if we put the manpower into it. Compile all of the updates we can, get the episode guides, have a comprehensive list of each episode, and put any and all updates available.

That'd take a long, long time.

i agree, goofyman, that it would take a lot of time but only if we think about it in terms of compiling updates for *every* episode. of course that would take a lot of time.

but, what if we were able to compile a list of the tope 30 or 40 most popular segments? that wouldn't take too long. over time, we would hit 50, then 100 and so on.

so, i suggest considering it as a project to compile a list of some episodes and not think of it as trying to compile every last episode.

as i watch UM, i have my laptop next to me and i look up most stories as they are presented. i could easily add to the site as needed.

thoughts?

Goofyman

That would work. Compile as much information as possible, gather any updates, and post it here or log it.

The 50-100 most popular cases could be looked into, but it would be easier to do a day-by-day, since the information is right there. Find what episode it is and log the information.

That would be alot of work considering the amount of solvable cases (Unexplained Deaths, Wanted, Missing Persons) that have been profiled on Unsolved Mysteries. No doubt it could be done but doing it alone would take me forever, literally. Perhaps if I had some help we'd get it done quicker.

it isn't a one person job. but, working together, we could get 20-30 cases finished in a reasonable amount of time.

again, let's not try and think of it as logging info on every single case. there are simply too many. but, a place to put info would be good.

if any of us takes 5 minutes, i bet we can come up with 25 cases that a) are rather popular/famous and b) have been solved/concluded. all we need to do is compile that info. searching the forum for all of kane's updates would yeild a ton of info that we could cut and paste IF we had a place to put it.

That works. We would start by running through the website and looking for updates to as many of those cases as possible? Those cases are pretty recent and would not be as hard to find updates for as some of the older cases.

i would say the first thing we do is decide where we going to put the data (ie., who will host it) and what the format should be. i would suggest the format should include a brief summary of the case and the date it aired. then what the updates are. we can link to news articles but the links may break later so i suggest copying the text of the article and including it after the case summary.

Oops!
No worries!

I think the website you two have in the works, or possibly might have in the works is a wonderful idea! It'll be a lot of work, though. But I'd be willing to help some...I'm not very good at webmastering though.

Well Echoes of Fear does have a section for Updates. I have posted some and plan on posting more that I know of. If all of us who are members on there would post the updates we know of it would be a start for people who don't read the boards regularly to be caught up to date on the developments in the cases.

echoes of fear, crystaldawn, etc.,

i saw the updates section on the echoes of fear website. looks great! thanks!!!!

one problem:

i think it should be used *only* for updates. i don't think we shuld discuss the cases there. of course, that is what is happening.

echoes of fear, before it gets too far, would you be willing to HTML-ize info that people post or email to you? that way, it would be 1) organized, 2) searchable 3) not just another forum with the endless "oh my gosh, i am so glad they caught that guy" posts.

i am not trying to be too picky, i just feel that if this isn't done right, people won't use it and won't update it.

also, we need to include URLs or better yet ACTUAL TEXT from the updates. crystaldawn was kind enough to post a bunch of updates. problem was, one of the first i read said a woman had been found and the info was found on the DOE Network but there was no quote from the DOE Network article in the original posting. i hate to use URLs because links change and pages die way too often. but, a simple cut and paste job will fix that.

do people agree with me or am i just being too picky?

thanks.

Actually that isn't the update section I was refering to at all. I have sort of a "Knowledge Base" set-up for cases and their updates to be posted. Articles are posted in this update Knowledge Base and they are linked back to the "Updates" board and that is where the comments are actually displayed not on the original article.

I have the link up now if you want to submit an article.

Bobbi Parker/Randolph Dial

and the body was:

Overview:

Deputy Warden's Wife Vanishes
Bobbi Parker, wife of the deputy warden at a medium security prison in Granite, Oklahoma, vanished on August 30, 1994. Convicted murderer Randolph Dial escaped from the same prison on the same day. Coincidence? No. Police say Dial took the deputy warden's wife with him.

from:
http://marriage.about.com/od/celebritymarriages/p/bobbiparker.htm

4/06/05: Randolph Dial and Bobbi Parker were found residing in a two-bedroom trailer on an isolated property where they ran a chicken farm in Campti for 5 1/2 years. Bobbi ran most of the errands, including purchasing groceries at a store across the street from the Shelby County Sheriff's Office. She appeared healthy and unharmed. During a jailhouse interview, Dial shared that his relationship with Bobbi Parker was never romantic and that he had threatened her children if she were to escape.

4/07/05: Fearful that her husband, Randy would not want her back, Bobbi Parker was uncertain about being reunited with him. They have had an emotional reunion. After spending the night together at a Nacogdoches motel, they are headed home to see their daughters and to begin rebuilding their lives.

4/12/05: At Randolph Dial's initial hearing, he learned that he will face a charge of escape. His preliminary hearing will be held on June 13th and he has had a public defender appointed to work on his case.

4/25/05: Authorities in Oklahoma are trying to determine Bobbi Parker's legal status to decide if she should be charged with helping Dial or if she was a hostage.

Randy Parker has stated that Bobbi will not talk about her time with Dial. Randy Parker is also frustrated by hearing that the FBI believed that his wife was alive but didn't inform him.

Bobbi Parker in phone call to author Charles Sasser: "I'm fine and I'm happy,' and . . . she said she wondered if it was better to let them [her family] keep thinking she was dead or to call them."

Shelby County Sheriff Newton Johnson, April 5, 2005: "As far as I know, she has no intention of leaving. She said she wants to stay on the farm and raise chickens."

Nacogdoches County Justice of the Peace Donna Clayton, April 6, 2005, after witnessing Bobbi's reunion with her husband, Randy: "They just looked at each other, and both of them took a deep breath, and the next thing I knew, both of them were hugging and crying.
