GARFIELDKOOL 06-26-2005, 03:24 PM The Partridge wasn't really I show I got into but I was just wondering if there is anyone who actually prefers to watch the Partridge Family instead of the Brady Bunch and why? I never got into the Partridges either. I saw every episode of the Brady Bunch. But I will take the Partriges over the Bradys because they were better singers. Also, the Brady Kids are a little self-centered. sbwalker53 06-27-2005, 04:42 PM I guess I liked "The Partridge Family" more because I had a crush on Laurie, not Marcia. "LAURIE, LAURIE, LAURIE!" TripperFan 06-27-2005, 04:45 PM Two Words: DAVID CASSIDY spunkygirl 06-27-2005, 07:50 PM I never liked the Partridge Family, Brady Bunch is much better IMO :) JT 06-27-2005, 08:05 PM Two Words: DAVID CASSIDY Agreed! TripperFan 06-27-2005, 08:25 PM Agreed! I think even hetro guys worshipped him!!! Best head of hair on the face of the earth at the time! :eyes::grineyes: How I wish long (well groomed) hair was back in style for guys. I still prefer it over this "lobotomy" shaved look!! ;) JT 06-27-2005, 08:56 PM I think even hetro guys worshipped him!!! Best head of hair on the face of the earth at the time! :eyes::grineyes: How I wish long (well groomed) hair was back in style for guys. David Cassidy's hair is like the BEST hair of all time, right up there with Grant Goodeve's on "Eight is Enough"! dandelion wine 06-27-2005, 09:10 PM LOL! David Cassidy's hair is like the BEST hair of all time, right up there with Grant Goodeve's on "Eight is Enough"! They definately had the best hair. :faint: TripperFan 06-27-2005, 09:22 PM EW -EW - What about Gary Sandy's on WKRP?! Or Bobby on Taxi (he himself bugged me, but that hair had a life of its own)! Sal 07-01-2005, 11:01 PM This is a real tough call for me because these shows were part of my childhood and trying to choose between them is like trying to choose between Mickey Mantle and Joe DiMaggio (or--where I come from--Gordie Howe and Bobby Orr.) That's how much I loved both shows as a child and today they are both in my top 10 list of all time favorites. But since you asked... I would put "The Partridge Family" slightly ahead on points because I feel the Bradys have become a little overexposed in recent years while the Partridges have become underexposed, underrated, and underappreciated. This surprises me because, when you take a look back to their beginnings, both started out fairly equally. Think about it: They originally aired on the same network (ABC), in the same era (early 1970s), on the same night (Fridays---with the Partridges following the Bradys) and were made to appeal to a similar age group (kids and pre-teens, like myself at the time). Back then, they were both huge hits and were marketed accordingly, and I have the paperbacks to prove it. However, since both series were cancelled 30 years ago, the Bradys have been everywhere, on variety series, countless reunion specials, made for TV movies, game shows, talk shows, other sitcoms, 2 big screen movies starring Shelley Long, the original series in syndication, and now on DVD with 3 out of the 5 seasons already on the shelves. But, until the late 1990s, when the reruns finally started appearing again on MTV in the US and MuchMusic in Canada, the only time you would hear about the Partridge Family, aside from Susan Dey's successful run on "LA Law", was whenever Danny Bonaduce was getting arrested, providing plenty of material for starving stand-up comics everywhere. That's quite a disparity for 2 series that were supposed to attract the same general audience. Maybe now, with the show finally on DVD and the reruns getting a little more airplay, plus rumors of a movie in the works, the gap might be closing a little. We'll see. For now, I'll still take "The Partridge Family" by a small margin, maybe even because, overall, it was a better show. I felt that way 35 years ago and I still do today. And I still love them both! PrettyinPink55 07-02-2005, 01:38 AM Awww come on! As hot as David Cassidy is, and boy is he a hottie  , you can't deny that The Brady Bunch is better! :D barwars 07-02-2005, 10:03 AM The Brady Bunch is a much better series, and history has proven that. Dean Winchester 07-02-2005, 03:33 PM I prefer Brady Bunch, but.... I can see where one may prefer Partridge Family, not a day has gone by since it went off where TBB hasn't aired, The Partridge Family is a tad more obscure and it's famous moments/lines aren't quite as ubiquitous as "Marcia Marcia Marcia", etc... So in many ways, Partridge Family has never been played out while Brady Bunch has. TVFactFan 07-02-2005, 03:48 PM I prefer Brady Bunch, but.... I remember that like crazy like it was said in MANY EPISODES   I have seen every show while I have only seen 1 or 2 partridge family episodes... (I dont know much about them) I love The Bradys!! Alan Brady's Hair 05-11-2026, 10:34 AM Partridge Family is really an adult show - the young kids are props, while Danny, Laurie, Keith, Shirley, Reuben interact as adults Brady Bunch is directed at about a 10 to 12 year old level. merlinjones 05-11-2026, 01:41 PM The Brady Bunch resonates with pop brightness and incredible casting. All six of those kids were winning personalities. And the set was spectacular. The simplicity of the concept makes it timeless and relatable. I also like the songs. The Partridge Family had awesome music, delicious David and Susan and very funny Danny. Beyond that the set is sort of depressing and the two little kids are oddly non-characters. They were also very unclear about how successful the pop group was within the show - sort of had it both ways. Dude111 05-11-2026, 08:14 PM I guess thats why I love Brady Bunch :) Thank you!! BigManMike 05-13-2026, 10:15 AM I like both shows for different reasons. I thought the Brady Bunch had better storylines and I could relate to it more, but the Partridge Family had better singing and music. Overall I prefer the Brady Bunch but I still enjoy the Partridge Family as well. I discovered the Brady Bunch when it first came to Nick at Nite in 1998 when I was in second grade, but I didn’t really discover the Partridge Family until Antenna TV first launched at the beginning of 2011 with it on there. Dude111 05-13-2026, 04:30 PM I just noticed the title of this thread says "REPLY HERE IF YOU LIKE THE PARTRIDGE FAMILY BETTER..." I hope Solomon doesnt get mad at me.... (Ah man!!) icecream 05-13-2026, 06:17 PM The Partridge Family wins because it usually has great music, except when that horrible neighbor kid singer came in season 4. Keith, Laurie, and Shirley are more interesting than anyone on The Brady Bunch. Danny can get annoying fast though, several Bradys beat him. Dude111 05-13-2026, 06:46 PM Maybe I should watch more of it :) franciis 05-13-2026, 10:02 PM was there a special primetime show with many members of my three sons long long, long running tv show and the partridge family show ?? maybe special aired just a few yrs after both shows had been taken off air.hope special reunion show is on youtube.not sure if there was a storyline ,too or just a updated show on tv stars careers after their shows left the airwaves. It was this: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt3962266/ Here's a clip from it: https://youtu.be/Z71Lt225jSM?si=seDAZmOyODsNLnC6 staytuned 05-16-2026, 12:42 AM I've always felt that Eight is Enough was more of the stronger head-to-head competitor of The Brady Bunch than The Partridge Family. Coffeecup 05-18-2026, 01:10 PM I tend to think the Brady Bunch will come in stronger, only for the show has been in syndication so much longer. Only a few stations ran the Partridge Family and it didn't stay long. As for me, I do like the music in the Partridge Family. Dude111 05-18-2026, 02:01 PM I dunno if I remember any of it! Dianne3 05-21-2026, 04:37 PM The Brady Bunch wins because the episodes were about the Brady's. There weren't too many guest stars on the Brady Buch. The Partridge Family by comparison quite often relied on outside, one time characters to carry the plot. Nothing wrong by itself with all the guest stars the Partridge Family had, but a lot of the plots weren't about the family. |
