Brent88 06-26-2005, 12:27 AM Won't happen. Full House, Cosby, and Roseanne are the three highest-rated shows on Nick-at-Nite. No way they'll be shoved out of Primetime in favor of Who's the Boss, Wings or Murphy Brown. They tried WTB just last year from 10-11pm and it didn't last long. Neither did MB following Roseanne at 11:30
troopoleon8897 06-26-2005, 12:37 AM Yeah I Know And Agree Because Everyone Loves These Shows But Even Though Those Are My Top Three Favorite Shows Im Beginning To Be Annoyed I Mean It Needs A Break I Can't Stand A Show After I Have Seen It So Many Times I Still Love Roseanne But i have Quit On It So I Will Actully Watch The Episodes On Dvd With Out Being Bored Samething With Full House and Fresh Prince Plus With Fresh Prince It Seems Like Every Other Week Its The Same Episodes The Only Shows That I Still Watch On Nick@Nite Is TCS Every Once In Awhile And Who's The Boss? When Ever I Get The Chance, And I personally liked Murphy Brown At 11:30 Because I Could Get To Sleep Eaiser. I Just Really Liked The Pop-Up Brady Bunch And Though These Shows In Pop-Up Would Liven Up That Dull Schedule A Bit...

so Fresh Prince isn't doing that well?
what I hate is that N@N shows favortism to the shows available elsewhere. Full House also airs on ABC Family, Roseanne on Oxygen, Fresh Prince on The-N and Cosby on TBS. Why not show the "exclusive" shows more predominantly? because it's not like Murphy Brown or Who's The Boss air on different channels also.
Pavan 06-26-2005, 01:00 AM After seeing the ratings, I can understand why Full House, Fresh Prince, Cosby Show, and Roseanne are being aired. They are all unstoppable. The ratings for the NAN 1985 stunt did NOT match regular averages of those shows. Unbelievable.
USTVFanFromUK 06-26-2005, 01:48 AM I don't understand why N@N feels the need to air shows from mostly the late 80's to 90's era. I think it would be a better idea if they combined all the eras of television and aired shows from the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, and 90's all together.

cough cough
TVLand.
Dean Winchester 06-26-2005, 02:39 PM cough cough
TVLand.
well, even TV Land isn't what it used to be. The last straw was when they canned Kitschen so they can use the timeslot to show reruns of shows like Cheers, Three's Company and All In The Family that already air a lot as is.
Dean Winchester 06-26-2005, 02:43 PM well, N@N is so ratings obsessed.... then air all the "ratings winners" ONCE a night between 9-midnight, and then be more adventurous in the midnight-6 am slot. Viacom has the rights to so many shows they don't take advantage of owning.
Even though I love Roseanne and long blocks of her show doesn't bother me, I can enjoy them.... I do realize there are many many people out there who don't want to see her show SIX TIMES A NIGHT.
The prob with present-day Nick is that they only emphasize on about four shows, when back in the "good ol days", they'd show love for at least 10. Considering networks don't care about post-midnight ratings, use those dead-end hours to air shows like Kate And Allie, Coach, Wings and other shows that N@N has rights to but treats like crap because it isn't bonafide like Cosby or Roseanne are. 2 times a night is more than enough per show.
spunkygirl 06-26-2005, 03:07 PM I'm sick of Roseanne, Fresh Prince, and Full House, I mean in my area alone Roseanne is on 5 different channels ohno: I say give shows that don't air much a chance for a change.

I can understand them starting out with high ratings. But it surprises me that they hold on to their ratings for years. I mean, is "The Cosby Show" still a high rated show on N@N? And then when N@N & TV Land do something different, such as this week and last weekend, the ratings aren't as high. It ticks me off.

I agree totally. Nick was more interesting last week than it'd been in a few years, and I've been glued to TV Land this weekend and two weeks ago, but obviously more people would rather watch a Bonanza marathon than see shows they don't normally see.
However, I think what could be the cause is that people avoid the marathons because they'll be mad there isn't more episodes, like people who wanna see FOL or Kate And Allie will feel underwhelmed getting ONE episode and never get to see it again until DVD so they won't bother watching it while they know that Roseanne and Fresh Prince aren't going anywhere.

Yeah, I understand that, too, but I can only wonder what would have happened had core 80s shows (227, Too Close, One Day, etc.) debuted. Would they have all bombed, or do core 80s shows only bomb because N@N is considered more "90s hits" now? I think it's the latter.
And didn't Diff'rent Strokes and FOL get really good ratings back in 2000/2001? I can't believe they didn't last longer...
troopoleon8897 06-26-2005, 07:20 PM Yeah, I understand that, too, but I can only wonder what would have happened had core 80s shows (227, Too Close, One Day, etc.) debuted. Yes DS And FOL Had Good Ratings For Awhile But They Thought It Was Unstoppable So They Showed alot Just like they are Doing now With Fresh Prince, Roseanne, And TCS So People Got Annoyed and Stopped Watching...
Fresh Prince (Airs 5 Times A Night) And Roseanne (Airs 4 Times A Night) And TCS (Airs 4 Times A Night) They Are Starting To Slow Down on Full House (Just Was Reduced To 3 Times A Night) So Only One Hour Is Dedicated To Other Shows (Murphy Brown/Who's the Boss)
troopoleon8897 06-26-2005, 07:24 PM I have Posted This in a Nother Thread But I Think N@N Have to Change format. I Think Every Night from 12am - 6am They Should air 12 Different Shows 1 Episode for Each. So For The 9pm - 12pm Slot They they Do 3 Different Double Shots Every Night This Is Just A Sample Schedule(not nessicarily shows i want on N@N) that i put together:
Sunday
9-10 Full House
10-11 Perfect Strangers
11-12 Family Matters
Monday
9-10 Head Of The Class
10-11 Growing Pains
11-12 Who's The Boss?
Tuesday
9-10 Fatherhood
10-11 The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air
11-12 Benson
Wednesday
9-10 The Nanny
10-11 Home Improvement
11-12 Roseanne
Thursday
9-10 Family Ties
10-11 The Cosby Show
11-12 Mad About You
Friday
10-11 Hangin' with Mr. Cooper
11-12 Step By Step
Saturday
10-11 Wings
11-12 Murphy Brown
I Think This Will Make More People Like N@N More And Not Get Sick of Certain Shows.
Please let me Know Your opinion.
Brent88 06-26-2005, 07:25 PM so Fresh Prince isn't doing that well?

I agree with you there... but it's all about ratings.
I don't know how FP is doing... it's certainly doing better than Wings or MB. Doubt it's doing TCS, FH, or Roseanne numbers though.
Pavan 06-26-2005, 08:26 PM Fresh Prince and Roseanne are the highest rated shows on Nick@Nite right now. Full House does well with the younger viewers and Cosby Show still puts up huge numbers.
spunkygirl 06-26-2005, 08:32 PM WOW how do these viewers not get sick of these shows already
Dean Winchester 06-26-2005, 09:23 PM I think the problem with Nick is diverse programming. One of the reasons people loved N@N so much in the mid-late 90's was because they had an impressive library of shows and never really played favorites. They'd have upwards of 10 shows a night and they never overplayed certain ones and relegated others to 3 am slots, especially if it hasn't even finished it's course yet (N@N is still only on the seventh season of Murphy Brown in it's first go-round).
Roseanne is one of my favorite shows and I admittedly never get bored when N@N has marathons of the show, but.... I realize there are people who are cringing with boredom over "god, more Roseanne" while I'm enjoying it. Nick should only air their shows twice a nice period and put all the "ratings hits" before midnight and let the "lesser" shows have a cozy 12:30 am/1 am, etc... slot. All sides would win out, all of Nick's "precious" ratings winners get the desirable timeslots, and the smaller shows would get their fair shot too.

I took a break from it recently but have come back to it now... but I'm ONLY watching it on N@N(twice a day) like other shows in syndication I watch. The reason I got sick of it last year is because I was watching it everytime it aired.
EmoJoe 06-26-2005, 09:40 PM That would be nice. Unfortuantley it wil never happen.

Sounds like me with FH, I stopped watching it a while ago cause I was sick of it, then latley I've been watching it more. Its not my favorite show (not even close) like it used to be, but its ok to watch when theres nothing else to do.

me too, I'm only watching it on N@N, I might watch the occasional A Different World or Living Single rerun on Oxygen, but not Roseanne.
I only watch Ro on Oxygen now. I basically haven't watched NAN regularly since she came to it, and before then, I left when TC left.
TVJunkie101 06-27-2005, 08:35 AM I don't watch Roseanne regularly (I still tune into the GG's on Lifetime) on N@N anymore except when Lifetime "preempts" The Golden Girls, LOL. I do love Roseanne and have forever. I watched it all of the time (first on ABC) on TBS. I never get tired of it. There are still a lot of episodes I forget about or haven't seen so... I've also been tuning into Fresh Prince more. I've always enjoyed that show as well.
I don't necessarily agree with HOW the shows are scheduled, but they obviously do very well for N@N. I do think if any really core 80s show would debut (As has been the case with WTB and MB) it just wouldn't fit. If it was just core 80s shows (FOL, Diff'rent Strokes, Silver Spoons, Who's the Boss? etc.) I think WTB and Murphy might actually do alright. It's not that the fans aren't there... Although if I'm not mistaken, Murphy never did that well for Lifetime either.. (just like Laverne & Shirley). It's really odd seeing so many good shows be ignored...
But yeah, they could definitely get a few more shows crammed on there and I think giving a little variety wouldn't hurt.
Dean Winchester 06-27-2005, 10:28 AM I actually would consider MB more of a 90's show than an 80's show. It premiered the same season as Roseanne (1988-1989) and actually ended later than anything else on Nick's schedule (ending in 1998, Roseanne and Wings wrapped in 1997)
I do think Nick should've spent more time focused on the 80's instead of the 2 1/2 measly years they gave us, considering how long they emphasized on 60's and/or 70's shows. So many great 80's series that in a 7-years-ago world would've made it fairly onto Nick's schedule didn't even get considered. Shows like 227, Gimme A Break, Kate And Allie, Benson, Night Court (I know I know... but it should be on N@N first before TV Land, it was a long-running top 10 hit for crying out loud), ALF, Valerie/The Hogan Family, Amen.... would've probably been considered for airing if Nick had it's old programmers instead of the ones who think nothing more about picking played out shows that are still contracted to other networks to give emphasis to while the few shows of theirs that aren't shown on other networks are treated like garbage (FH, FP, TCS and Ro fans have other options to see those shows, WTB and MB fans do not).
Brent88 06-27-2005, 05:16 PM I feel old. Roseanne premiered when I was 2 1/2 months old and ran until I was almost 9 years old!!! I am older than the show(at least most of the episodes except the Pilot).

 Brent you're a young pup ;) I feel old at times, cause I can remember Silver Spoons, The A-Team, Who's the Boss?, Growing Pains, alot of 80's shows and 90's shows. I'm 30, but it's cool being able to remember growing up with these shows that are considered sitcom classics now :)

You're not the only one!
I was BARELY a week old when "Wings" premeired in 1990. BARELY.
But sometimes I feel old too because I remember watching most of the FH and FP episodes in their original runs.
spunkygirl 06-27-2005, 07:02 PM Now I feel ancient :(

I still remember watching Family Matters and Step By Step on TGIF... as early as 1991. At least neither show is on N@N yet, although I imagine when ABC Family stops airing them, they go there.
Dean Winchester 06-27-2005, 07:39 PM makes me feel old to hear "I was almost 9 when Roseanne ended'.... I was almost 9 when Roseanne PREMIERED, and yes, I watched it from day one till the last show when I was 17

well, I was only 11 when Mork And Mindy premiered on N@N, and I was only born one year after that show premiered, lol
Heather987 06-29-2005, 03:26 PM What I dont understand and maybe someone can give me an answer...
If so many people are complaining about the N@N lineup, how do they get such great ratings? I get tired of the same programs all the time, most of the shows are available on any number of other local/national stations, do people really watch the shows on ALL the other channels and N@N? If N@N gets all these great ratings from TCS, Roseanne, FP and FH how do the other channels rate in this area, are they getting good ratings during their syndicated times?
There is not enough sitcoms on TV these days that are lasting long, and reality TV sucks IMO, so what is N@N going to do in the future, play reality TV reruns? I like to watch something other then reality since most reality shows are pathetic people who want a date or money, that I look for sitcoms to escape from reality for a brief period and N@N used to be the place to do that, lately it has been the same sitcom hell. I am suprised they have not shown Friends or Seinfeld I mean they were both 90's and on a hundred other channels and both were great rating getters on NBC.
Does N@N and NBC have any affiliation? Seems that most (I know not all) were originally at one time on NBC...
Why does N@N keep switching up there lineup with the same shows just new time slots? Why not switch it up with new shows once in a while.
TCS was limited for about 10 min to late night then brought back to the mid. time slot and WTB was bumped into TCS late night slot.

well, on Sitcoms Online, most of us are more passionate about the lineups and seeing a diverse lineup of shows than people who might just be flipping through the channels and being "I love Fresh Prince" and stopping to watch it
barwars 06-29-2005, 04:50 PM There is no affiliation between NBC and N@N.... although the reason that so many NBC shows appear on N@N is that NBC was the king of the sitcom during the time period the shows currently airing came from.
There seems to be an even split between ABC and NBC.... with Murphy Brown as the only CBS offering, which makes sense, since they only had about 5 hit sitcoms over a twenty year span.
