View Full Version : Would you still see War of the Worlds Cactus Jack 06-25-2005, 08:42 PM Even with Tom Cruise currently beingf'ed in the head? dandelion wine 06-25-2005, 09:02 PM Sure.. if I'm interested in seeing a movie, I'll go see it regardless of what's going on with an actor's personal life. It's a pain in the ass seeing him in the media constantly but that's not going to be a factor in whether I see it. Dutabi84 06-26-2005, 02:22 AM Despite the feeling of getting stabbed in the cerebellum whenever I hear or see him lately, I definitely want to see it. ABlairican Pie 06-26-2005, 02:24 AM Of course I'd still see it! It was great when I saw it as a kid, so this ought to be an improvement. Tom Cruise's beliefs have nothing to do with a film adaptation of a classic novel by H.G. Wells. webuster 06-26-2005, 08:02 AM I'll probably see it because I thought the original was good, and the story is also good. But I can see why someone wouldn't go see it because of Cruise. He's been in the news so much recently it's difficult to separate him in the movie from his media persona- and his media persona has been so cheesy, corny and all-around annoying- it's great he's in love but he's sorta presented as going through a mid-life crisis. Frankly I'm sickened by the sight of him on the news. barwars 06-26-2005, 08:35 AM I'll go see it, but it's not a must-see. It really wasn't before Tom went skitzo, but I have less interest now that he has. But, I get in the movies for free, so why not? Superstar 06-26-2005, 09:33 AM No. I have no interest in seeing the movie anyway but Cruise puts me off it even more Jrnygrl 06-26-2005, 11:52 AM Loved the original, and had not planned to see the remake. So no will not see it. TJL 06-26-2005, 12:05 PM Eh, I don't know. I'm pretty lazy when it comes to checking out the summer blockbusters, so if I miss it, I won't lose any sleep. I'll admit that Tom Cruise's antics recently have made me less excited about the film. ABlairican Pie 06-26-2005, 12:19 PM What is it about Hollywood stars and their beliefs that get really weird?? Shirley MacLaine caught a lot of flack for being a New Ager. And there are tons of other Scientologists out there in Hollyweird as well, like John Travolta. robyrob 06-26-2005, 12:23 PM I have never been a big Tom Cruise fan, and I am even less interested in seeing more of him after he's done such a good job of reminding us ho big a pompous ass he is. ...but I do like Spielburg's movies. Mysty Eyes 06-26-2005, 03:11 PM No. Plain and simple... no. I love Spielberg; I do not love Cruise. Who will we be seeing on the screen? Cruise. No. SBTB Geek 06-27-2005, 01:42 AM I can't even look at Cruise's face without becoming agitated. So obviously, I won't be watching the film. The news floating around is saying that this movie is the next "Battlefield Earth"! ...and if that's the case, I definately don't want to see it! Flying Dutchman 06-27-2005, 05:00 PM Im no fan of cruise and there are only a couple of his movies that I even liked interview with a vampire was the best but we all know that brad was the one who stole the spotlight in that 1 with a little help from kirsten dunst, I will go see war of the worlds because i am a big spielberg fan, infact there was only 1 movie ever made by spielberg that i hated and guess who was in it? u got it tom cruise (Minority Report) I just didnt get it, I walked out half way through the film, but tom cruise tends to do that to me. TV DVD Fan 06-29-2005, 04:28 PM I'm seeing it Friday with my dad, although I don't think any little green men will be coming to visit us anytime soon. However, if I lived back when Orson Welles did his broadcast, then I mighta thought differently! I do believe in other life, but why do they care about us? We don't care about them, they don't care about us. They live there and are comfortable, we live here and we're comfortable. I love many sci-fi flicks, but the ideas are totally unreal to the human mind... unimaginable. Simply because our minds weren't programmed to think that such unreal things could actually be real. The '50's movie was classic too, I love the way they designed the aliens like robots! pat MsOrange 06-29-2005, 05:33 PM probably not... i'd have a hard time taking Tom Cruise seriously Courtnee 06-29-2005, 06:05 PM TOM CRUSE DID NOT DESERVE THE MTV GENERATION AWARD!!!! no,I'm not going to see it. Nighthawk76 06-29-2005, 06:39 PM Yeah, I still plan to see it. Though reviews of the movie that I have read have not been very possitive. The Duke of Spoook! 07-02-2005, 03:26 AM . Dean Winchester 07-02-2005, 04:31 AM TOM CRUSE DID NOT DESERVE THE MTV GENERATION AWARD!!!! well, I am not a fan of Mr. Cruise but... can you honestly say he hasn't been at least one of the top two or three movie stars of the past 20 years? USTVFanFromUK 07-02-2005, 05:17 AM TOM CRUSE DID NOT DESERVE THE MTV GENERATION AWARD!!!! no,I'm not going to see it. Not like anything given out by MTV means much these days........ Janice 07-02-2005, 10:53 AM I'll see it next week. My husband and I see all the blockbuster movies in the theater. Cruise is on my **** list these days, but that won't stop me from seeing the movie. It's getting good reviews. http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/war_of_the_worlds/ barwars 07-02-2005, 10:58 AM I may go tonight. Mr. Television 07-02-2005, 11:01 AM I''ll wait until it comes to tv but I'll eventually see it. An actors stupidity hasn't stopped me from seeing other movies before. Central Perk 07-02-2005, 11:04 AM Yeah I already saw it. Mr. Television 07-02-2005, 11:06 AM Yeah I already saw it. How was it? EmoJoe 07-02-2005, 11:31 AM I dont really plan on seeing it, but I would go see it anyone regardless of what actor/actress is in it. But I'm sure that once the media hype on Tom Cruise is over, many people who didnt want to see it because of him will end up watching it. Central Perk 07-02-2005, 10:32 PM How was it? I thought it was good. The Duke of Spoook! 07-03-2005, 12:06 AM TOM CRUSE DID NOT DESERVE THE MTV GENERATION AWARD!!!! no,I'm not going to see it. okay! The Duke of Spoook! 07-03-2005, 12:18 AM okay! I thought it was really cool, despite a few plot holes. *Pleasant Tomorrow* 07-03-2005, 01:37 AM Tom Cruise and The War of the Worlds were both great for me to poop on! vienna waits 07-03-2005, 06:43 PM No spoilers. ABlairican Pie 07-04-2005, 05:38 PM GO SEE THE MOVIE, IT'S GREAT!!!!! Nighthawk76 07-04-2005, 05:56 PM I saw War of the Worlds Saturday. Overall I liked it, but Spielberg is capable of better...or at least he used to be. :( Karen* 07-04-2005, 06:42 PM I need to see it, even though my co-workers said it sucked. -_- Rhiannon 07-05-2005, 11:48 AM i saw it Dean Winchester 07-05-2005, 01:56 PM well, whatever backlash Tom had wasn't enough to keep the movie from making over $100 million opening weekend. Granted it fell short of Star Wars and Spiderman II, but a lot of people figured Gigli by the annoying overexposure of Tomkat.
