View Full Version : Time Warner Cable (TWC) Adds TV One!
MikeClassicTVFan 06-16-2005, 05:20 PM Time Warner Cable recently entered a distribution agreement with TV One and was added to many of its cable systems today including my local system. It's great seeing some old favs including "227" and "Good Times"!!
MikeLutton 06-16-2005, 06:00 PM cool did it come to Dish Network 2 we could use a channell like that
barwars 06-16-2005, 06:23 PM Is it for basic cable, or only digital?
vashti1999 06-16-2005, 07:08 PM Dammit! It's not on here in New York. If anyone in NYC finds out if we've got it or will get it on Time Warner New York, let me know the channel number.
vashti1999 06-16-2005, 07:31 PM I'm wondering if this is bogus. I just did a search of news for Time Warner, news for TV One and searched the press releases on TV One's website and there's no mention of this channel being added to Time Warner's systems.
MikeClassicTVFan 06-16-2005, 09:23 PM Not bogus...it was added today to the Houston TWC digital cable tier (Channel 100).

Can you post some confirmation for me that it's an agreement with Time Warner Cable systems? I would think Time Warner New York would definitely be included if TV One is being added to a number of TW systems today.
MikeClassicTVFan 06-17-2005, 07:31 AM I remember reading the agreement recently in an industry article about Radio One, Inc. (the parent company of TV One). In the meantime, here's the link for the Houston TWC system: http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/ae/tv/3229229

I guess it's good news that at least your Time Warner system has it, I hope it means that it'll be added in other markets (namely mine).
vashti1999 06-17-2005, 03:28 PM Just found an article dated from a couple of months ago. I hope this means TV-One is coming to New York soon. I've got digital cable, so wherever they put it will be fine with me as long as it's on.

The biggest impediment to TV One’s success at the moment is its limited distribution. “It isn’t backed by another network where they can get leverage,” Dundas says. “It’s kind of like Oxygen, which is a great network but independent.” And TV One is not yet available on cable in the New York market.
TV One is available on DirecTV in New York and is working on a carriage deal with Time Warner Cable. Stalling negotiations is that TV One wants to be carried on a basic tier wherever it can, and most cable operators don’t have much analog shelf space to spare.
In the meantime, the net’s relationship with Comcast, the country’s largest cable operator, is paying off. Comcast put TV One on basic cable in Washington, D.C., Baltimore and Richmond, Va., at launch. It is now converting the network to basic in Los Angeles, Dallas, Detroit, Cleveland and Oakland, Calif.
Not on here either. Really though, by now, if it isn't SOAPnet, I just don't give a rat's about it...

spunkygirl 06-28-2005, 04:11 PM Dang, so close to me, hopefully the Columbus, Ohio area will get this channel :D
L&OFan4Eva 06-28-2005, 04:22 PM I have DirecTV and I already get TVOne and yesterday they added both I'll Fly Away and Roc to the schedule; however Roc is at the expense of 227.
vashti1999 06-28-2005, 04:27 PM I have DirecTV and I already get TVOne and yesterday they added both I'll Fly Away and Roc to the schedule; however Roc is at the expense of 227.
Are they still airing Under One Roof, or is that gone? I know it was only a six episode series, there's just so many times they can show those same few episodes over and over again.
L&OFan4Eva 06-28-2005, 04:32 PM No. For a while they showed Under One Roof at 2 and City of Angels at midnight. Now it's I'll Fly Away at 2 and Boston Public at midnight; but the schedule often changes since most of the dramas (with the exception of Boston Public) have lasted only one or two seasons, so I would expect Under One Roof to reappear since I read that they have the rights for that and City of Angels for quite a while.
TVFactFan 06-28-2005, 07:01 PM Why Add ROC? I mean it was an OK show but I'm not all that happy to see ROC added to the schedule. TV ONE needs to start adding other shows from the 70's besides Good Times. Like the Jeffersons So I can get them all UNCUT
vashti1999 11-14-2005, 07:44 PM Finally I'm happy to get the cable bill. There's a note that Time Warner New York is dropping the lame Black Family Channel and replacing it with TV-ONE!!! Finally! It'll be on Channel 90 starting December 7 for TimeWarner NY customers.
We're also getting Anime On Demand, Oxygen On Demand, Concert On Demand and some other stuff this week.
spunkygirl 11-14-2005, 07:46 PM Our Time Warner Cable added TV-One last week, like it so far :D

I don't know. I went to their website last night to check out their schedule, it didn't seem like they had a lot that I'd look forward to. It'll be nice to see Roc since I haven't seen that since it originally aired. Amen is kinda cool. I just wish I had this channel when they were showing Under One Roof, Guys Like Us and other short-lived shows.

I got adelphia cable and they were sold to TWC so I should be getting this when we get the TWC because are cable is being pervided from pittsfield which is being pervided by Albany so... I hope I do get It cause Amen and 227 have always looked good to me but I have never seen them... Are They Good?
vashti1999 11-15-2005, 05:03 PM I hope I do get It cause Amen and 227 have always looked good to me but I have never seen them... Are They Good?
Was 227 on the schedule too? I must've forgot that one. That's another show I'll be looking forward to. They're both good shows, not outstanding, but good. I liked them both, but always liked 227 more than Amen. Jackee Harry's Sondra character gave that show some life, but it was a good show all around. Basically if you like a majority of 80s sitcoms you shouldn't have any trouble liking these shows too.
musicradio77 11-15-2005, 06:45 PM I hope Time Warner Cable in the Hudson Valley is adding TV-one soon. I would like to see "227" because I haven't seen it when WWOR-TV aired reruns in the early 90's as well as on the NBC daytime schedule from 1989 until 1990 when it was at 11:30 AM right after the "The Golden Girls" reruns. That was 15 years ago. I like to see the "Wheel of Fortune" episode on "227". I haven't seen that episode in a long time.
vashti1999 11-17-2005, 10:39 AM It'll be on Channel 90 starting December 7 for TimeWarner NY customers.
We're also getting Anime On Demand, Oxygen On Demand, Concert On Demand and some other stuff this week.
My cable bill said this channel would be added next month, but TV One actually started today. I saw a little bit of an Amen episode at around 3 a.m. before I fell asleep.
TWCNYC also added a Howard Stern On Demand channel. It's a $9.95 monthly subscription, so I guess they won't have any material available free of charge.
troopoleon8897 11-17-2005, 06:00 PM Wow you go to sleep late, I would never be able to go to sleep that late if I had a job (asuming you have a job and you didn't have the day off today) lol
