View Full Version : TV Land Top Ten Shows are Boring,Useless & a Waste of Time!! eddie146 06-10-2005, 10:51 AM Tv Land should stop wasting airtime on such garbage!! There is enough crappy shows like this on VH1,Bravo and E! TripperFan 06-10-2005, 10:54 AM I agree. I caught the very end of the Top 10 Couples (or whatever the stupid title was). I couldn't believe when they had Carrie and Mr. Big from Sex and the City in there and not Rob and Laura Petrie? WTF? Made me glad I only tuned in for the next show coming on and didn't waste another hour of my life with this dribble. TVFactFan 06-10-2005, 11:00 AM The only Top Ten I didn;t enjoy was the Top Ten Couples and Top Ten Stars who made the Big Screen TripperFan 06-10-2005, 11:30 AM The only Top Ten I didn;t enjoy was the Top Ten Couples and Top Ten Stars who made the Big Screen Don't you agree that the top 10 couples list was LAME? I couldn't believe they left out Rob and Laura let alone put some couple that weren't ever married on a recent show as the 2nd or 3rd (can't remember which - I was ranting at the time) couple of ALL TIME? Come on guys! I swear they've hired a bunch of friggin' 8 yr old chimps to do their picking for them. Penny Lane 06-10-2005, 11:31 AM I agree. Are the votes by the fans or TVLand? I know that we can vote on line and I am wondering if the votes are based on the viewers choices, I am sure a lot of votes would be balloted by younger viewers who probably don't know who Rob and Laura are. Hence, the Carrie/Mr. Big placement. Wondering? Ohio8 06-10-2005, 01:25 PM I AGREE!!! I couldn't believe te results of the Top Ten about TV-to-movie stars. How'd Jennifer Aniston make the Top Ten? Robin Williams should've been in the top five, preferabbly in the Number 1 spot. Penny Lane 06-10-2005, 01:35 PM I AGREE!!! I couldn't believe te results of the Top Ten about TV-to-movie stars. How'd Jennifer Aniston make the Top Ten? Robin Williams should've been in the top five, preferabbly in the Number 1 spot. Yeah and how about Clint Eastwood, Steve McQueen and Kathleen Turner to name a few? As I stated before I think that if this was an online poll most of the votes came from much younger people more than likely! (Not that I am knocking them) but to be an honest an accurate poll would be a cross section of generations. But then again what poll is ever accurate?  TripperFan 06-10-2005, 01:36 PM I think TVLand producers (who maybe the janitor and cafeteria staff at their offices) vote the ones they air, but the public can also vote online. Maybe you're right tho - and they do take viewers votes and if its a younger crowd getting on there, that would explain the odd lists! And Jennifer Aniston a top Hollywood actress? Only because she was/is still sort of married to Brad Pitt (and I don't consider him a top actor either). Total dribble - and I'm sorry I ever registered on their boards because I get weekly spam reminding me to watch these pieces of garbage - it started with Farrah and now I get the Top Ten emails each week! Mr. Monitor 06-10-2005, 04:29 PM Outta curiosity, just who were the top 10 couples? Dean Winchester 06-10-2005, 04:50 PM I agree. I caught the very end of the Top 10 Couples (or whatever the stupid title was). I couldn't believe when they had Carrie and Mr. Big from Sex and the City in there and not Rob and Laura Petrie? WTF? I personally thought Carrie and Big were a great couple. For most of the series, she'd drop anything to be with him and he treated her like crap, then at the end, he reformed and saved the day and got the girl after Petrovski hit her. It was a series-long arc, no matter who Carrie would date, she'd keep coming back to the one she truly loved. Dean Winchester 06-10-2005, 04:54 PM I AGREE!!! I couldn't believe te results of the Top Ten about TV-to-movie stars. How'd Jennifer Aniston make the Top Ten? Robin Williams should've been in the top five, preferabbly in the Number 1 spot. Yes, Aniston is not a "top Hollywood actress" IMO. This list was supposed to be for actors who had success on tv, but then had movie success that made you forget they were on tv. Like you said Robin Williams, he had a hit with Mork And Mindy, and went onto a film career that was so fruitful that many people might forget that "Mork calling Orson, come in Orson" and "na-nu na-nu" were what originally made him famous. In comparison, Jennifer Aniston is still Rachel to 90% of people, and The Good Girl was her only film success where she was the lead, Bruce Almighty was Jim Carrey's film, any actress could've played her part and it would've done the same. MotownMurph 06-10-2005, 08:17 PM I agree! If someone has truly crossed from the small screen to the silver screen, that means you normally FORGET about the TV time that they logged. Jen Aniston, to me, is not even close to doing this, as none of "her" movies have done very well, thus, people remember her better as Rachel Greene, her tube alter-ego. I agree that Robin Williams is the best example of a true "crossover," and Tom Hanks even comes to my mind, even though Bosom Buddies was definitely not a Mork & Mindy. Ant-Lox 06-11-2005, 12:40 PM I didnt like the couple list....where the hell was edith & archie bunker? rodwayne 06-13-2005, 10:11 AM You are all right about T.V. Land Top 10.It's useless, and a waste of time.ESSPECIALLY the so called "celebraties" they have "gushing" over the list. They're as funny as getting a root canal. And who is this Loir Lone?!?She is so freaking annoying!!!She must be an example of a z-list star(most of the celebraties on this show was mostly z-list).And everyone right about the selections that were made.It came from internet geeks, and young 20 somethings that have no idea what good T.V. is because they are brain damage! One word of advice:avoid the T.V. Land Top 10 marathon that will soon be coming on at any and all cost!!! TripperFan 06-13-2005, 10:29 AM Outta curiosity, just who were the top 10 couples? I checked the TV Land website to see if they had them listed, but all they have is an area to still vote (after it's aired????? Looks like these lists could air again and keep changing depending on the votes????? Seems odd!) Maybe someone else watched the whole episode and they could post it. All I can suggest is that if voting is still open for the future, that we all get in there and let our voices be heard - squeeze out these 20-somethings (no offense to you guys, but on these lists, we really don't expect to see shows that started in the 90s and 00s). I got mine in for Rob & Laura! There's was the first show where "chemistry" really showed! ;) dlemond 06-13-2005, 10:41 AM The worst thing about these shows is that they show the worst clips that don't validate their points at all. For crying out loud you work in television, anyone could pick out good examples of why these are top 10. No excuse for that. JT 06-13-2005, 01:45 PM The lists are decided by TVLand. The viewer votes are counted and the results are shown sometime during the show before a commercial break. Dean Winchester 06-13-2005, 02:39 PM I don't see what is wrong about couples from more recent shows making these lists. It's like when people pitched a fit when Seinfeld made TV Guide's 50 Greatest Shows list... if the show ended in 78 instead of 98, people would have no problem with it. There have been couples on tv shows from the past 20 years. David and Maddie, Ross and Rachel, Carrie and Big, Ray and Debra. Just because the kids on the shows aren't over 50 now doesn't mean they weren't memorable couples. I can see your point, but I still think that a married couple with a child, and especially with the chemistry Rob & Laura Petrie had, they should have at least made the list when a couple like Carrie & Mr. Big who had an on again, off again relationship (no matter who "passionate" it might have been) made the 3rd spot. |
