Want to see Katie Holmes take leave of her new love, Tom Cruise? A Web site is selling items with the logo "Free Katie" for those fans who think the union between the 26-year-old actress and the 42-year-old actor is wrong.
The Web site, www.freeKatie.net, is selling T-shirts (in three colors), caps, buttons and coffee mugs, all emblazoned with "Free Katie" in block letters.
The site asks the viewer to "join the movement to liberate Katie, a young, gifted, actress held captive by forces we may never understand. Even one summer of captivity is too long for one so bright!"
The romance between Cruise, star of the upcoming summer blockbuster "War of the Worlds" and Holmes, who's co-starring in "Batman Begins," has been one of the hot topics in Hollywood. Besides their ubiquitous presence at public events and A-list parties, Cruise has raised eyebrows with his increased promotion of Scientology and some odd behavior on Oprah Winfrey's show last month.
During that taping, Cruise got down on his knees and repeatedly jumped up on Oprah's couch, saying his love for Holmes was "beyond cool."
For her part, Holmes has been nearly equal to Cruise in proclaiming herself completely head over heels.
"I've got to tell you, the most extraordinary thing happened to me one day in April when I met Tom," she recently told the TV show "Access Hollywood." "I'm more and more in love every day. It's like, `Wow.'"

I just thought it was funny.
dlemond 06-09-2005, 02:31 PM Does anyone have a clip of Cruise on Oprah jumping up on her couch?
I gotta see this.

I'll see if I can find one. I watched the show that day. She couldn't keep him OFF the couch - or the floor!! If I didn't know better, I'd wonder what he was taking that day! At first I was happy for him, but it's already getting a little tired. You could even almost see Oprah wanting to just yell 'STOP IT ALREADY'!!
Couldn't find just a pic - here's a link to a video of it though. Note the comments also!!

Mysty Eyes 06-09-2005, 03:28 PM I have no previous knowledge of Katie Holmes, and I have no interest in finding out anything more about her.
Tom Cruise turns my stomach, more and more every day. I have disliked him for years and years, and in fact try to make it a point to NOT watch anything that he is in. That's sad, since I love Dustin Hoffman and "Rainman" is such a good film. I just can't bring myself to watch Cruise any longer. puke:
Dean Winchester 06-09-2005, 03:38 PM I used to like Katie on Dawson's Creek.
I hope to god that Tom doesn't brainwash her into his cult, luckily Nicole held her ground for a decade.
I hope War Of The Worlds flops, he is such an overrated actor. I'm tired of hearing how good he looks, Brad Pitt's only one year younger than he is and is infinately better looking.

Actually it sounds too late about "Katie and the Kult" (hey - that could be a new show!!) From what I've read, she's taken a keen interest in it - probably why Tommy boy's over the moon - he finally found a suckar!!
Actually I thought Tom was starting to look bad too, but I have to admit, she's been the fountain of youth for him or something because he's looking more like he did 10 years ago lately.
And I was surprised to see how much older Brad was looking on last night's 20/20 - probably the haircut though - I like him much better with longer hair.

I personally like the shorter hair on Brad. I think he is kinda cut from the same mold as Paul Newman, who hit his best looking years in his 40's and 50's (although now he's just an old man, lol). Brad looks better the older he gets IMO.
Mr. Television 06-09-2005, 04:32 PM Who wants to take bets on how long this relationship will last?
Janice 06-09-2005, 04:39 PM Tom Cruise was on Jay Leno last night, gushing like a schoolgirl over his new love. He giggles. I never could stand a man who giggles.
I kept thinking, Who gives a rat's ass if you're in love or not? What an overinflated sense of self-importance. I never heard him go on and on with his ex-wives Mimi Rogers or Nicole Kidman or his subsequent 3-year relationship with Penelope Cruz.
It's nauseating. :barf:

He's about to turn 43... Can anyone say: MID-LIFE CRISIS???
Dean Winchester 06-09-2005, 05:07 PM I am sure Katie had ulterior motives herself.
Once Dawson's Creek ended, she and her costars went straight to the "Where are they now?" pile, especially after shows like The OC and One Tree Hill premiered right afterwards, making people forget all about Dawson. Dating Tom Cruise is a way to bring Katie's career back from the grave and have people associate her as something besides Joey.
barwars 06-09-2005, 05:12 PM George Lopez was on Good Morning America today talking about his wife (who gave him a kidney) and he started jumping up on the couch.
And then he was like "that's how you do it Tom, that's real love" -- after he was jumping like crazy for like 30 seconds.
Anyways, I never did like Tom Cruise.... but Katie Holmes seems nice, and I think she deserves better.
*MIBabe03* 06-09-2005, 05:21 PM He's about to turn 43... Can anyone say: MID-LIFE CRISIS???
Yep, I was thinking that too. He's such a yuppie.
Dallas 06-09-2005, 05:27 PM I personally never cared for Tom Cruise. He appears one-dimensional in almost all of his movies. Katie Holmes could do better.
I think this has been a publicity stunt. They both seem to be starved for public attention. Chris Klein, (Katie's former fiance) is much nicer looking than Tom Cruise and with a less inflated ego. She didn't move up with Tom.
Tom Cruise appears neurotic on his latest TV appearances on Oprah and Jay Leno. A mid-life crisis or just insecure? Tommy gets more and more nauseating every year. :barf:
Are Brad Pitt and Angelina a couple or not??
TripperFan 06-09-2005, 05:31 PM I personally like the shorter hair on Brad. I think he is kinda cut from the same mold as Paul Newman, who hit his best looking years in his 40's and 50's (although now he's just an old man, lol). Brad looks better the older he gets IMO.
I know what you mean about Brad - yeah, he probably willage gracefully like Newman did (not Redford tho - eeeewww!).
Of all guys, Brad can wear his hair short the nicest (I saw a pic of Hugh Jackman with his hair short today and eeeewwww - what happened to my Leopold!! ) I guess I'm just into more "baby faced" guys and of course, longer hair helps that look. heehee

Probably because he couldn't sucker any of them into his Scientology. Maybe Katie's already pledged a nice donation to them and Tom wins points towards a coffee maker or something for it!
Nighthawk76 06-09-2005, 06:41 PM Though I have never been a big fan of Tom Cruise as a person, he is probably the most talented male actor of his generation. He has given really good performances in The Color of Money, Eyes Wide Shut, Rainman and quite a few other movies.
I could honestly care less about Katie Holmes. As far as I'm concerned she's nothing more then the former co-star of a prime time soap opera. In five years Katie will be appearing on VH1's the Surreal Life, or what ever it is called.
As far as Tom and Katie the couple are concerned, I don't really care. I really don't care who in Hollywood is dating who. I think people who follow all that Hollywood gossip simply have too much time on their hands. I could care less if Tom and Katie are together or if Brad and Angelina are together.
Brad Pitt is NO Paul Newman.

She probably would've gotten some recgonition (sp?) for just her role in Batman.
Karen* 06-22-2005, 12:03 AM I want a Free Katie shirt.
According to yesterday's IMDB, Katie Holmes will not be in the next Batman movie.
Christian Bale, Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine have all signed on for the sequel to "Batman Begins," but she hasn't.
Word is the folks at Warner Brothers think the publicity from her relationship with Cruise overshadowed the hype surrounding "Batman Begins."
TripperFan 06-22-2005, 09:16 AM Haven't learned from the Bennifer fiasco have they?

Might not be a bad idea, imo. I just hope they explain why she isn't there or at least make some reference to her for continuity reasons.

Mikado 07-11-2005, 03:48 AM Ummm is it really anyones business who Katie Holmes is in love with??? (Other than her own)
Belair 07-15-2005, 02:23 AM I've never cared for Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, and that hasn't changed. However, this 'Free Katie' website is the most stupidest thing I've heard of.
Heather987 07-15-2005, 02:43 AM Isnt this free Katie thing bringing even more attention to TomKat?
As for Tom and Katie, they are no Ashton and Demi - those 2 I think can make it work forever if they want, but Tom and Katie I cant see it.
Maybe Tom needs to take some of that medication he is so against and cool his mid life crisis. He acts like he is on some serious drugs or something.
I have heard that Katie has changed from her Catholic religion to be a scientologist or whatever for Tom.
It seems that they are trying to hard to convince the public that they are really in love. I dont know much about Katie but what I do have learned is nothing more then she is a B list actor dating an A list actor and it still hasnt changed her career except to make people sick of her and Tom before her career has a real chance of taking off.
If they get married I wish them both the best, but I feel like Tom will ruin Katie in the end. He manipulates her and she is to young and naive to see it. I have heard her parents are not even that happy about her changing religions and Toms age.
Anyone know if Nicole, Mimi, or Chris Klein has said anything about their actions in interviews and public appearances or the engagement at all?
