Who remembers the 70's game show, Match Game hosted by Gene Rayburne? I'm 23 almost 24 soon and I love the match game. I watch it everyday on GSN. I also like panelists. I go on-line once and a while to see what they are up to, who's alive, who's dead, etc., I don't like the Match Game hosted by another guy in the 90's.

"Match Game" is still the show ever on GSN. Gene Rayburn was the best and so did the 1990 version with Ross Shafer.

I love Match Game! I watch it everyday on my lunch hour! Gene is the best. One thing bothers me - it's almost as if the stars picked their favorite contestants and then came up with totally off the wall answers for the other contestant. You know like if the question was something like "Scary Sam was so scary...[How scary was he? ] when the neighborhood kids saw him, they all BLANKED. So the contestant would answer something like "screamed" or "ran away" or something, but the stars would say something like "went in the house and watched tv" or "went to the store to buy scary juice" or something really dumb (even dumber than the contestant's answer), but for the favored contestant, usually no matter how obscure a question was, the star's usually all matched except for Fannie or Patty (usually on the bottom right - not Betty White though - she was usually dead on, too) because they would come up with the absolute dumbest answers. Rarely did Fannie or Patty come up with a match - and that is usually only when the non-regulars didn't screw up and actually matched a non-favored contestant.

Maybe I'm imagining all of this in my cynical little world, but I don't think I am.

The remake was called What The Blank was hosted by Fred Willard and it was piloted for FOX but they just passed on it, Maybe syndication would be picking it up. It'll make it to air.

Match Game was so fun on so many levels-
first,The totally unscripted off the wall antics of the panel and Gene RayBurn.(Like the time Gene Climbed up into the audience or the time the cast of The Carol Burnett show unexpectedly walked on the set and Played a round of the game)
Second,It is a great show to watch to learn how to read body language.Watch the stars right before they reveal an answer on the Super Match portion of the game (where the contestant goes for the big money). Richard Dawson is THE master of masking (It's a body language techique where you don't reveal anything with your body language. It takes real skill to do it)
Third,The wit of Richard Dawson. He always had a funny line.If you wanted to win on Match Game, any regular viewer knew to call on him.He was amazing accurate on many matchs and In my opinion was definately one of the reasons for its success. The show wasn't the same once he left.
reason 4- Amazing Moments.During a week when Paul Williams and Betty white were Panelists,Betty made a funny insult about Paul.He was brillant in the way he took her comment and made it into a compliment.
reason5- the wackiness of Gene Rayburn
Finally ,the interaction among Gene Rayburn,Richard Dawson, Brett Somers,Charles Nelson Reiley,Betty White,Fannie Flagg and some of the other semi-regulars was pure Fun.
Without a doubt-one of the best Game shows ever and it still holds up good today.

Richard Dawson was SO good at this game that it earned him a spin-off thats still with us today, The Family Feud! ( Which had similar rules, only the contestants matched ordinary people from a poll, rather than celebs )

"MATCH GAME (70's) RULES, THE WEAKEST LINK, & I'VE GOT A SECRET (2006) DROOLS!!!" I've watched Match Game on GSN everyday/night, I liked the impersonations from both Gene Rayburn & Richard Dawson, they both did an excellent job, I wish they put Match Game on Sat. night also, & moved that show to 8:00 pm (CST) every single night (7 days a week), in morning & is OK, move the afternoon slot to 4:00pm (CST), that show really gets me laughing so hard, i liked those 4 Stars (Gene Rayburn, Brett Somers, Charles Nelson Reilly, & Richard Dawson combined), Gene, Richard, & Charles are liked the 3 Stooges of the 70's, Match Game is the #1 game show in TV history, i loved that show, (in memory of the greatest game show host of all time Gene Rayburn who was born Dec. 22, 1917, he died Nov. 29, 1999, thanks for the memories Gene, we will all remember you!!!), Match Game is also my favorite game show, it's even funnier with all 4 of them (Gene, Brett, Charles, & Richard) doing their jokes, it would be nice if they do a Match Game Marathon (in memory of Gene Rayburn) for all Match Game (with Gene Rayburn) fans, & this would be nice if they have Match Game on DVD too their jokes is soooo funny, i could use it on 1 of my bosses. Gene Rayburn happens to be the most funniest game show in TV history, he is more funnier & smarter than Ross Shafer & Michael Burger, Shafer & Burger don't have any talent like Rayburn does, If Rayburn was alive today, I'd vote for him as President, & get rid of Bush, and Rayburn would sent the troops home from Iraq, where they belong, IMMEDIATELY!!! My favorite part of Match Game is when Gene reads a lot of hilarious questions (King Kong, the Jolly Green Giant, Fat Freddy, Dum Dora, Weird Willie, etc.), the whole game is sooo hilarious, They really make me laugh the whole entire show:lol:I wish this game downloads to all computers, so we all could Play Match Game (70s) online. (download to electronic Devices such as Cellular Phones, & PDA's) so we could play (& watch) Match Game at work or anywhere. Would you believe, Patty Duke Astin has the same exact initals as the electroonic device many people take to work besides cell phones (PDA), If we decide to get rid of George W. Bush, i would definetly vote for Richard Dawson, Dawson would be the best & funniest president because of his jokes & his impersonations, such as Paul Lynde, Count Dracula, etc., he is the greatest (& funniest) comedian in TV history "PRESENT"

I, too, watch Match Game whenever I can, which is usually only on the weekends. :(

I wish GSN would move it back to the 6:30 time slot so I can watch it everynight like I used to.

Ugh! Don't even get me started on that pukefest remake of I've Got A Secret! What's worse is that they stopped having two episodes of Match Game on their "That 70's Hour" to put that crap on!
