View Full Version : TV's Most Romantic Man
rossnrach4ever 05-11-2005, 03:27 AM Not to be confused with womanizer, but who do you think are the most romantic men on sitcoms....
Tony Nelson... always was surpising Jeannie
Darrin Stevens....
Howard Cunningham
Heathcliffe Huxtable
Frank from Step by Step
in the recent years one comes to mind Ross Geller ... he chased the woman he loved through an airport to tell her he loved her, said her name when he was marryiing another woman, took full responsibilty for a one night stand that resulted in a pregnancy ,
Mrs. John Ritter 01-13-2006, 11:01 PM This is just my opinion: I think that TV's most romantic man is any character that is played by John Ritter. There is just something about him that is so wonderful and attractive. I think he is the hottest man I have ever seen in my whole life.
Classicshowsgurl15 01-14-2006, 06:12 PM I think that Michael J. Fox was pretty romantic in Spin City.
catlover79 11-22-2007, 12:52 AM Darrin Stephens (Dick York) on Bewitched. There was never any doubt how much in love Darrin was with his wife Samantha when DY played the role.
dawsongirl 11-22-2007, 02:32 AM During the early seasons of I Love Lucy, Ricky could be pretty romantic.
bingbangbaby 11-22-2007, 03:00 AM Ooooh, I like this topic. And yeah, I was just going to say Ricky Ricardo. He was very sweet at times and you could tell her truly loved Lucy.
Also making my list would be
Darrin Stephens (Bewitched)- just like Ricky Ricardo, no doubt at all how much he loved Samantha
Tony Micelli (Who's the Boss)- He was soooo sweet to Angela; he recreated her disastrous high school prom night for her; on their first date after she came down the steps he disappeared out the front door and knocked only to have a bouquet of flowers for her; he remembered pink roses were her favorite when her current boyfriend did not; when she wanted to complete her list of spontaneous things and the only thing left was "make out at Inspiration Point" he very sweetly offered her a kiss so she could complete her list. What a sweetheart.
Classicshowsgurl15 11-22-2007, 04:20 AM I think that Tony on Who's the Boss? was pretty romantic.:)
catlover79 11-22-2007, 12:35 PM Why can't more men like this exist in real life?? :(
BensonFan 11-22-2007, 12:52 PM Why can't more men like this exist in real life?? :(
:yeahthat
That's the million dollar question right there.
Carrie 11-22-2007, 04:10 PM Why can't more men like this exist in real life?? :(
LOL, really!
My choices would definitely be Ricky Ricardo, Rob Petrie, Darrin Stephens (Dick York), Mike Brady, Tony Micelli and Maxwell Sheffield.

That's the million dollar question right there.
If any of you have one in mind, send him my way!! ;)
I think Gov. Gatling (Benson) was a pretty romantic guy. He truly respected women and adored his late wife. He was probably a very good husband.
BensonFan 11-23-2007, 01:16 PM If any of you have one in mind, send him my way!! ;)
Fat chance! If I find him, I'm keeping him for myself! :p :D
Ireneparalegal 11-23-2007, 01:16 PM Everytime this topic has come up I always say the same character:
CHARLES INGALLS of Little House on the Prairie. The scene where Caroline is helping with plowing the fields and the rest of the family is trying to make money because of a ruined crop, Charles approaches Caroline and tells her how beautiful she is. Caroline says she looks a fright, her hair is messed up, her face is dirty, her clothes are dirty and a mess from working the field, she feels embarrassed. Charles gently touches her face with his hands and he tells her, "The one thing I regret abt being married to you is I won't have the honor of asking you to be my wife again." AWWWWWWWWWWWWWW *sniff sniff*...THAT IS ONE DAMN ROMANTIC MOMENT and there were plenty of them between those two. He respected her, he never dishonored her, he loved her and he never allowed anyone to treat her badly or with disrespect. What a man!
catlover79 11-23-2007, 01:35 PM ^ You're totally right, Irene! How could I forget about Charles Ingalls? He was indeed a terrific, romantic husband to Caroline.

If only he would have cut that damn hair, he'd be perfect!:D ;)
Nighthawk76 11-23-2007, 09:20 PM Schneider from One Day At A Time
andress_jade 09-20-2008, 05:47 PM Tony Nelson on I Dream of Jeannie
Sully on Dr. Quinn (He was one of the most sexy, caring, romantic, heroic men on a primetime drama I think I have ever seen. Every girl wanted him and every man wanted to be him. I was so jealous of Jane Seymour getting to have him as her leading man.:))
Darrin Stephens on Bewitched
John Black on Days of our Lives (Before he was brainwashed, he was a sexy, romantic, ideal man. Any woman's dream. Deidre Hall is one lucky woman to get to work with him all these years.:) )
Schmoopie 09-21-2008, 12:11 AM Definitely John Ritter as Paul on 8 Simple Rules. Unfortunately we didn't get to see much of it, but in that episode where they deal with his death, his wife finds these pictures of her that she hates. However he had kept them hidden away. Awwww....
Monk
Adrian Monk when he was married to Trudy. Such sweet scenes!
Randy Disher was really romantic! Maybe a little crazy, though!
Full House
OMG, I can't believe no one mentioned Jessie Katsopolis! Uncle Jesse? Oh my, he made me swoon when he would serenade Becky outside of her window.
Danny Tanner could be pretty romantic, as could Joey Gladstone!
And then there's Steve-DJ's boyfriend and also Nelson. I liked Nelson!
Mike Seaver, Growing Pains
Jason Seaver, Growing Pains
Ross-Friends
Chandler-Friends
Andrea

I thought the Ingalls Mullet was rather charming myself.
littlebelle 09-23-2008, 07:34 PM Thomas Calabro- Dr. Michael Mancini from MP. I don't even think he was trying to be romantic, but in my eyes he was perfect!
Big C 09-23-2008, 11:06 PM I have to agree with L.B.- Mr. Mancini was quite the charmer- I watched many episodes, and he certainly knew how to attract all those Melrose hotties
(For the record, I only watched Melrose Place for the bodacious babes- Laura, Alyssa, Marcia, Heather, etc.)

What about Josie? not curvy enough for you? :)
catlover79 09-24-2008, 01:57 PM Here's a few more: Deputy Enos Strate (Sonny Shroyer; Dukes of Hazzard) - his love and devotion for Daisy was probably the sweetest thing on that show, and Christy's (Kellie Martin) two suitors from the 1994-95 CBS drama of the same name. They were Rev. David Grantland (Randall Batinkoff) and Dr. Neil MacNeill (Stewart Finley-McClennan), and the triangle was one of the most complelling elements of the show/book. I of course was a Christy/Neil fan.

janet42 09-24-2008, 10:52 PM I though John Walton was caring towards Olivia on the Waltons. Which to me is romantic because it's shows that he cares about her. I also think Cliff Huxtable from the Cosby show was romantic towards Clair.
catlover79 09-25-2008, 01:30 PM Schneider from One Day At A Time
Um...no.
Carlos from the Flying Nun could be very romantic but he was also a playboy.
sunshinefizzy 09-26-2008, 04:24 PM I remember quite a few times when Mike was very loving towards Carol. Especially the pilot episode when he went into that Shakespearean speech about how pretty she looked. Giggity!!!
Oh yeah and Frank Barone.... just kidding!!!
Kristen 09-26-2008, 09:51 PM I agree about Jesse on Full House. When he serenaded Becky with that song in Disney World.....awww! *melts* Maxwell Sheffield had his moments, too. Remember when he finally told Fran he loved her in Koorestan? Tony was pretty good to Angela, too, on WTB?

Frank Barone!??? I don't think so. "Gimme more beer, Marie!" :brent
wkomorow 09-27-2008, 02:40 PM In terms of absolute romance, I would say Rob from Dick van Dyke, Gomez from the Addams Family, Desi from I Love Lucy.
catlover79 09-27-2008, 02:41 PM Ahhh, yes, Gomez! "Tish, you just spoke French!!!!"
mrsmatthewperry 10-13-2008, 10:01 PM Chandler from Friends! and of course Ross too lol
vtunie 10-13-2008, 10:33 PM If a married man (me!) dare say what the most manly image ever presented was....
Efrem Zimbalist Jr. (Stu Bailey on 77 Sunset Strip)
dawsongirl 10-14-2008, 01:57 AM And then there's Steve-DJ's boyfriend and also Nelson. I liked Nelson!
You mean you didn't like Snake or Spike or whatever that one dude's name was that was in Jesse's band? I hated that guy.

His name was Viper, wasn't it? He was pretty darn annoying! And very dense! Ever notice that?
Andrea
catlover79 04-09-2013, 02:25 PM This might be an unconventional choice, but what about Adrian Monk (Monk)? Yes, he had a million phobias and had a bit of a superiority complex, but he was totally and utterly devoted to his late wife, Trudy. Through flashbacks and reminiscing, you knew how totally in love he was with her and how devastated he was to lose her in the car bombing.
Still, I always hoped that he would turn to his assistant, Natalie, once he moved past his grief. She obviously loved him and was able to cope with his many flaws and fears. :D
*ROGER* 04-09-2013, 02:43 PM Charles Ingalls from Little House on the Prairie was a wonderful husband.
andress_jade 04-09-2013, 09:41 PM I'm glad this thread has been revived because I want to add Niles Crane from Frasier to this list. He was such a romantic guy. He pined away for Daphne for six years before finally confessing his true feelings to her and was always doing sweet things for her even before they became a couple. After they became a couple he did even more romantic things for her. Always complimenting her, buying her things and the sweet way he proposed. Aw. Every girl should have a "Niles" in her life. :) :loveya:
catlover79 04-10-2013, 12:43 AM Yes, we should. Ahhh, if only real life was more like TV and the movies when it comes to love and marriage...
MacLeaper 04-10-2013, 12:38 PM That depends on which TV and movies you're talking about- there are also some very sad and wrong images of love and marriage on TV and the movies as well.....
