Hi all,
Erin Moran, Anson Williams & Donny Most are guests at the "Chiller Theatre" Convention this weekend in the New Jersey Meadowlands. I was there today (Saturday April 30th). They are three of the nicest people you'd ever want to meet -- epecially Erin, who was astonishingly sweet. Anson and Donny made me feel like I was Richie or something . . . just hanging out with Potsie and Ralph.

Charlene Tilton, who played "Jill Higgins", Joanie's cheerleadling captain (who cut her from the squad) and dance marathon competitor, in a Season Four episode was also there. Another sweetie! :D :) :D

You wish you lived in N.J.? That's gotta be the first time I've read that on one of these boards. :) There were quite a few pretty cool people at this thing besides the three from "Happy Days."

But, living in California, you are probably the envy of a lot more people than I am, not to mention probably have more opportunities to meet celebrities.

ponytail,
Yes, my sister, who was with me, had a digital camera with her. Erin, Anson & Donny posed for some pictures with me. I also bought some nice 8 X 10s from all of them which they signed . . . for my cousin who's also a big "Happy Days" fan, but wasn't there with us. (They charged $20 an autugraph.)

By the way, all of the above goes for Charlene Tilton, as well.

I worked that show with Tonya Harding. Got to meet all three and all three were very nice. But for whatever reason Anson and Don were sitting seperate from Erin.

It was in a tent and the tent was flooding and the smell was getting pretty bad in there.

BTW Charlene Tilton also appeared on Laverne and Shirley. But well into her Dallas Fame.

GeorgeWBushGOP,
I liked the tent idea. I had been to only one of these expos prior to this weekend. It was the one in April of 2003. The guests were spread out into groups in separate rooms and different floors of the hotel. I found it so much easier and more convenient having everybody all in the same place. I know the ground was wet, but I didn't know it "flooding." I don't remember the place smelling bad either, at all. I did think it was odd, though, that Erin wasn't set up closer to Anson and Don.

For some reason, Tonya was the one scheduled guest I never saw. Who was she near?

I know, I am glad that I live in california. It's just I have never met a celebrity and want to very much. My family and I are going to Disneyland in August and we are going to go to Hollywood! So I hope that I get to meet one there.

You went on Saturday when it was raining. By Sunday that place stunk and they had the water vacs out.

The hotel is too confusing and full of just bootleggers selling illegal dvds and the like. with some artists.

You saw where Erin was right?. Well across was Laraine Newman and behind her was Tonya Harding. and she was opposite Lou Ferrigno. She was a pretty big success. As most of them except the real obscure actors like the "Flesh Eater" from Night of the living dead". We are going to use her again for similar shows.

I know that celebrities charge for their autograph at conventions, because that's why they are there...however, I once read a story of a fan running into Tonya and asking for her autograph, and Tonya had the nerve to ask for $25!

Anyways, Donny Most is also going to be at a convention I'm attending on the 14th of this month, so hopefully I'll get a chance to meet him, too.

Which actually I'm sure he appreciated. We do that whenever we met celebrities here (part of the reason they say they like this city so much). You may shake their hand and say how much you like them, but then move on to other topics. I think they'll engage in a better conversation then.

steelparade,
Donny Most is probably grateful for the moments when he can sit by a pool and just talk to somebody about anything, the way ordinary nobodys can.

I hope he wasn't bothered by the fact that, at one point during my time with him and Anson, I laughed and said to him (Donny), "You still got it!" He didn't seem terribly happy about that. He didn't seem really annoyed by it either. He was just very nice.

He might not be too thrilled about being tied forever to the character Ralph Malph. But, chances are, if he wanted to disassociate himself from "Happy Days", he wouldn't appear at conventions with Anson Williams and Erin Moran.

This was a case of someone running into her at an airport and asking for an autograph, and then she in turn asking for $25. I really don't think there are many celebrites that would do this. If it's an autograph show or convention, that's another story, but to charge a fan who happens to pass her by is ridiculous. I actually only heard of one other person doing this, and I believe that was Tippi Hedren, but I could be mistaken.

Well that was my point. Tonya had some moments of being destitute.

My point is other celebs do in fact ask for money if you approach them. In fact Scotty Pippen wanted ten dollars from my brother when he approached him once.

Seems absurd but alot of celebs do it. Barbara Streisand tells people 100 dollars if they ask to have a picture with them.

Regardless of her record, she'll always be remembered for her last few "stunts" at the Nationals and Olympics.

And I'm not out there trying to sell my autograph like she is - or constantly promoting herself - now in boxing. She's a loser imo plain and simple.

And so is anyone who'd want her autograph. I have a right to my opinion as much as you do.

I got Kurt Browning's autograph after the '88 Olympics and not only did I not have to pay for it, but he offered it to me after I sent him a card wishing him well after his injury. Tonya doesn't even deserve to skate on the same ice as him.

I'm not criticizing celebs by asking for money - I just don't put a person with a rap sheet like she's got on the same level with them (unless you're maybe OJ Simpson).

She had moments of being destitute by her own hand - plain and simple. If the incident with Nancy Kerrigan had never happened, she might have won herself a medal and even been still skating. Not to mention all the other trouble she's had since. She made her own bed and her 15 minutes of fame should be over. You're only as good and remembered as your last accomplishment and the picture of her with her leg over the boards whining to the judges that her lace broke will be imbedded in my mind forever.

I never referred to Erin, Anson or Donny as losers - only Tonya (please see copied quote below or check in my original post)

"And I'm not out there trying to sell my autograph like she is - or constantly promoting herself - now in boxing. She's a loser imo plain and simple."

I wouldn't have even mentioned it if it not for her being at this meet and greet session you mentioned (actually I found it strange that she would be there in the first place, since she was never a sitcom star, but I don't know - maybe it was a session for former stars and/or athletes. I have absolutely nothing against the others as I feel their good records still stand. My point was strictly that after the things she did I find it strange that she's considered a celebrity ('course so was John Gotti) who's autograph would be in a high demand.

I, in no way meant any offense to the Happy Days gang as I can see people paying for their signatures. ;)

Cheers,

And so is anyone who'd want her autograph."

For the record, this was not a convention of former sitcom stars. The theme, as I interpret it, was science fiction/horror. Lou Ferrigno played a character on TV ("The Incredible Hulk") who terrified a lot of people. Adrienne Barbeau, while she was one of the stars of the sitcom "Maude", was at this event because of her appearances in the movies "Creepshow" and "Swamp Thing." There were some former professional wrestlers there whose wrestling characters were either pretty horrifying or were just plain bad guys. Laraine Newman was there, not because she was a "Saturday Night Live" cast member, but probably because she was one of the stars of "Invaders From Mars." Erin Moran was most likely there because of her part in "Galaxy Of Terror." I'm guessing that Anson Williams and Donny Most must have at least one similar project amongst their acting and/or directing credits.

Maybe Tonya was there because she's scary. :D

That is quite the eclectic mix of people! Now that you mention it, I think I remember seeing Donny and Anson on eps of Creepshow (the t.v. series) or the more recent version of the Outer Limits (filmed in B.C.) so that could be why they were there.
And if horror was the theme, then I can definitely see Tonya being there - as a matter of fact, she could be the grand master at those events!!

And I think you still misread my post. It was in response to GeorgeWBushGOP touting Tonya's "accomplishments" - there was nothing mentioned in either of our statements that the three from Happy Days came over and asked for her autograph (see #28). The original post about her requesting $25 per signature was made by HuntingtonM15 and I did reply to them in disbelief that anyone would want to pay her for her autograph (post #18).

That's my still my point - they DIDN'T BUY IT! They traded. I don't think they would buy it either. That's not the same thing as accepting it. It's possible they came over out of some kind of show politeness to acknowledge other celebrities also there.

You don't know anything of the kind. For all you know they could be raving Tonyaphiles who were very eager to get her autograph. You're just trying to desperately worm your way out of looking like a fool now that you realize what you've actually said.

You have two choices:

1) You can stand by your original statement that anyone who would want Tonya's autograph is a "loser" - and therefore admit that three of the major stars of Happy Days fall into that category.

2) You can admit that your statement is incorrect, and admit that there are in fact many decent, normal, honest, hardworking people - including the stars of "Happy Days" - who are quite happy to have Tonya's autograph. And that it is you who are actually a big-mouthed pea-brained loser.

There's a HUGE difference between obtaining for free and purchasing an autograph - especially when its a "C" list "celebrity" as is Tonya (a celebrity on the same level as a Mafia figure who would break the knees of rivals).

Your original post referred to anybody who would WANT Tonya's autograph as being a loser - there was no distinction about how it was obtained and this "bought" versus "traded" thing is just a new argument you've introduced as a red herring. Since it is patently obvious that the three "Happy Days" stars did WANT Tonya's autograph, it is implicit in your comment that they are "losers". This means that you are now in the invidious position of having to weasle out of this statement in order to avoid looking like you are insulting Erin, Anson and Donny (which was obviously not your intention), while still trying to maintain that only freaks and weirdoes would possibly want Tonya's autograph. You can't. It is not possible, and you aren't fooling anybody.

The fact is that these three genuine celebrities were quite happy to get Tonya's autograph. That blows your whole argument completely out of the water and leaves you with a big pile of egg on your face. But you're too arrogant to admit it.

Secondly, there is absolutely no evidence to suggest that Tonya ever had any prior knowledge of the plan to attack Nancy Kerrigan. If you have any, then put up or shut up with the gratuitous insults.

Once you learn to read, (which includes the board rules about digressing to personal insults and name-calling) you might actually become a useful member of this forum.

Oh, I can read just fine. It's you who can't read. If you could, you would have read GeorgeWBushGOP's post properly and realized the consequences of your statement about those who like Tonya being "losers" meant that you were dumping three of your favorite actors into that category.

As for being a trouble maker throwing personal insults, it was you who first started making trouble and throwing insults around by gratuitously calling Tonya fans "losers". Apparently it never occurred to you that one of us might be watching this board. Or perhaps you believe that it's only okay for you to throw insults at people. Don't like it when you get some of your own medicine back do you?
