I got the info I didn't want to hear this afternoon. My buddy gave me a real quick call to tell me the show has been officially cancelled. :( Since he's connected on the inside I have to take it as gospel now. Especially when he told me he was going to sell all of his scripts now. Arrgh!

Apparently it isn't enough to have quality programming on TV anymore. Maybe we'll get lucky and they will make one more episode to tie up all the loose ends.

I guess we'll see all those scripts he has on ebay now! No consolation though.

Sorry everyone. I'm just a messenger trying to keep everyone up to date. Now I'm off to sulk. :crybaby:

It's not that... Americans prefer sex and violence to family programming. Sad, but true. It's not the shows at all.

I'm not surprised by this news either.

Maybe if they had Meg and Roxanne dress like Paris and Nicole they would have had a hit!

Sad but true!

Where is he selling them? I want to own a peice of this show. If it's gone that is. This totally sucks. I'll write a super angry post later. I'm too numb to write one now.

This guy won't even fess up and reveal the name of his "source" at the show (who could be an errand boy on the set for all we know). If the decison was made and announced yesterday, we all would have heard something by now. I'll wait for the official word from NBC.

I don't watch this show, but I wanted to stop in and say this. If the show was really canceled NBC would have made an annoucement. so until they do the show is not dead yet.

I've seen some of your other posts and you seem to be someone who honestly does care about AD.
For this reason, I believe you. It's news we all dread, but aren't surprised by, what with the way this year has gone compared to all the other years.
It's kind of like the "writing on the wall".

Peace.

Im american and I do not prefer sex and violence or Reality tv. And in Season 4 Meg and Roxanne will never dress like Paris and Nicole because that would be dreadful.

But I'm with Dr.Phillip right now. If anyone gets mad at me for thinking the show isn't dead yet.Well than I'm sorry if that angers you I won't post here with my positivity no more. I got to go sorry. Mel

I did some research and found this:

Meanwhile, word is that the fate of NBC's "American Dreams" has now been sealed, and the period drama, long considered a long shot for renewal, will not return next season. NBC declined comment Thursday.

I'm glad an offical link was posted, but I don't know what I'm going to do. I try to aviod politcal rantings, but damn it! Where are all those values voters from the election. They talk about wanting good family television, one comes along, and they don't watch it. How can this happen? "American Dreams" was my favorite show. How are we going to find out what happens to everyone. I wanted to see Meg at Woodstock, and Will have his first kiss. I wanted to see Trip become Will's age. I wanted to see JJ's reaction to the Tet Offensive. I wanted to see Jack's reaction to Watergate. I wanted to see how Helen and Beth delt with the Women's Movement. I can't beleive it's gone. It's like losing a friend, or 13 good friends. How are we going to find out what happens? I can only take some comfort in knowing everyone else on the board is just as saddned as I am.

Yep... it's a done deal. It's gone. Sorry folks. I'm not at all surprised by this though.

I'm completely bummed, but not surprised. We did all we could. I wish I could say the same for NBC and the viewing public. I will give NBC credit for giving it a 3rd season which, judging by Season 2's ratings, it shouldn't have.

I'll tell you where all the "values voters" are Sarah. There all off watching cop shows because really what they are are bloodthirsty, vengeful people. They get their rocks off on watching criminals suffer, and they have a fetish for punishment and revenge. Fact of the matter is that American Dreams was too sophisticated a show for the childlike American public, which has proven time and time again that it cannot handle enlightening programming.

I haven't really posted at this board, but I never missed a single episode of American Dreams. I am deeply disappointed over its cancellation. This show had a lot of heart, great storylines, music, actors. I just can't believe it's over. :(

What a disappointment. I knew it was a longshot but I always hoped the show would pull through.

HI guys...
I'll keep this short because as a previous poster noted... the news about "AD" is like losing a family friend... but I know most folks like to hear of confirmations sites where they can check this news... so yeah, NBC HAS DEFINITELY cancelled our beloved show.
I saw the news on a media and entertainment website that is a daily clearing house of entertainment news.
If you go to www.tvtattle.com... you see along the listings of topics a link to "AD being cancelled by NBC".
Hang in there folks... we had a good 3 seasons... but i hope they do an final episode to tie up the loose ends.
We deserve that at least... especially after NBC fooled us into thinking there was some hope by writing in... e-mails saying "SAVE OUR SHOW" etc.
What weasels! :-(

Well, I guess you all know it's "official" now. I didn't want to start this thread but I thought you all should know about the news as soon as I heard it. At least you got a couple of days advance.

I just want to say one thing to New AD Fan. We ALL wanted this show to stay on the air. I appologize if it isn't the way you wanted it to be. But slamming me in the posts because I won't name my source is a little childish, don't you think? I don't see your name posted all over the place. Like I said in another thread, if you didn't want to believe me, that's fine. But keep your negative attitude towards me, or anyone else who offers information here, to yourself. It's bad enough to hear of the show's demise. I don't need to be belittled on top of it. And for your information, my friend worked as a Grip on the show from the very beginning. If you doubt that, come on over to my place and take a look at all of the cool AD stuff he gave me during the show's run. Maybe then you'll be a believer.

For those of you who listened to my ramblings here, thank you. I came into this forum late but I hope I added something to it. It was a pleasure reading all of your posts and reading your comments.

For those of you who are serious about getting some real AD memorabilia (not those signed pictures all over ebay), send me a private message. I'll check them every so often. I know my friend wants to sell some of his scripts, like I said before, and I I hope to be going to his place to check them out in the next week or so. We will most likely post them on ebay but I can give you a heads up if you are interested. I may even let some of my stuff go too. I'll have to consider that.

Hope to hear from some of you true fans! You all take care now!

Rob

 This is Exactly WHY i don't watch much television anymore ! Shows like AMerican Dreams, are NOT being accepted[OR supported] enough by the American Viewing public . In fact, we here are in the minority i fear .We have actual "Good taste " ! The majority of American Viewers, enjoy watching the same ole same ole "crap" , year in and year out ! Reality tv is their holy grail now ! It's just a crying shame, that American Dreams cannot find find life on ANOTHER network . One that will actually "SUPPORT " it ! With this cancellation......I am NOT going to waste my time on any other network television show ever again ! Sorry you scumbag corporate Loosers................I've thrown up my hands in total disgust now ! Thanks for nothing !

Wow. I am sooo sad about this. I mean I guess I shouldn't revolve my life around a TV show, but it was such a good show and out of all of my favorites, it was the only show I watched faithfully. It's too bad. I wish there was some way for it to come back, but I guess not. NBC sucks.

I guess now we can all sit back and hope that NBC and anyone related hasn't read all the "NBC is crap" postings and emails and whatever else was generated by some fans here and wherever else after they read the news the show was cancelled.
My, how quick emotions and allegians can turn, huh?

Peace.

Who cares what NBC thinks? Anyone here has the right to say what they feel -good or bad- it's not going to bring back the show to NBC if they only say nice things. ;)

God damnit!! This makes me so fuc*ing angry I want to scream. I pretty much expected this news seeing how the additude was getting around here but i still had a small glimmer of hope. Needless to say, this has pretty much ruined my day. And around september next year i will be entirely pissed for not getting to see another season of my favorite show. Yeah, its only a tv show....but still. I think i'm gonna give NBC a piece of my mind, not that it will matter anyways but whatever.
