View Full Version : I hate karate!!!!! (only read this if you are in the mood to read REAL complaining!)
G-Force Glockstar 04-17-2005, 03:44 PM I HATE karate!!!! It sucks!!
I'll try to say it nice and clear so I don't just blurt out everything cause I'm really upset right now......I'm even sobbing.....gosh I'm such a baby!
Anyway, in karate, my sisters are ahead of me, and one of my teachers was such a JERK last week and wouldn't let me go to the next level just because I didn't learn the frickin form/moves yet!! I will NEVER learn it, I swear!!
I'm too stupid to learn it and plus how the frick can I learn it if I could freakin care less???!!!! My parents are so mean and I will never forgive them for making me take karate.
They think it's "good" for me because one day a bad guy may attack me and I'll need to know how to defend myself! RIGHT!
And if that ever does happen, then great, if they they kill me I can finally die and go to heaven! GOSH!
I'm really sorry, I'm just so mad and upset right now, I had to post it here.
Now I'm gonna go back to crying like a baby until someone replies.
Superstar 04-17-2005, 03:53 PM I know the way you feel, my parents force me to take keyboard lessons. I have a big exam coming up in June, I don't even know what songs I'm supposed to be playing, and my music teacher got pissed of with me last week for not paying attention. I don't care about doing well in that exam (its really important thing, its so you can go to the next grade) I just day dream during the lesson
Anyways, try and talk to your parents about doing karate, maybe they will let you do something else instead.

think about it man. you may not live in a town full of gangs, but it does happen to people who least expect it. i carry a swiss army knife in my purse myself.

Sorry about that :(
and no I can't do that, my parents are getting so freakin pi$$ed at me talking about karate that they said the next time I cry or say another word about it I'll get grounded. I freakin hate them!!!

I would be more than happy to die. I hate my life, it's hell.
Mijada 04-17-2005, 04:12 PM Why not ask your parents if you can take up some other kind of activity, something that you would really enjoy and get something out of. I agree with your parents about Karate though. It may very well come in handy later in life. See if maybe you can take a different kind of self defense class, one that your sisters are not a part of. Seems to me like there is a lot of competition going on between you girls making it very difficult for you to be an individual. Anyways I think you are very fortunate to even have the opportunity to take Karate lessons. When I was growing up my mom didn't have the money for that stuff.

They say I can maybe do something else, but I HAVE to go to karate. Aren't they evil jerks????
We have a women and a man for our karate teacher, Mr. and Mrs. Fitch.
Mrs. Fitch won't let me go to the next level but she let my sisters  :crying:
My parents don't even freakin care :(
SmartAznTiger 04-17-2005, 04:15 PM My parents would never make me take lessons that I hate, I used to take karate and disliked it, and I quitted, and my parents doesnt care, and my dad thinks karate is a joke anywayz
EmoJoe 04-17-2005, 04:20 PM If you wanna go to the next level than you need to try to get the forms/movesd right. Having a "i'll never get these" attitude isnt going to help you. You have to have some confidence in yourself

Why wasn't I born with your parents?
And yeah, karate is a joke.

I can't because I hate karate. It's too hard. No other parents would make their kids take something they hated.

Well maybe your attitude has something to do with your instructors not advancing you to the next level. I don't mean to jump all over you or anything and I do know what it's like to be a kid and your parents making you do things that you don't want to do. My mom made me keep a paper route from age 11 to 14. It was a real pain in the ass having to trudge through rain and snow delivering papers while my friends were playing and watching TV and receiving an allowance every week for doing next to nothing. Now that I look back though, I'm glad my mom made me keep that route because it taught me responsibility and the money I saved put me through my first year of college. Do your sisters enjoy Karate and have a positive attitude towards it? If so, that may have something to do with them excelling at it. I've never taken Karate but I have heard that attitude has a lot to do with it. I don't think your parents are evil and I do believe that they care for you but if you were my kid I wouldn't want you to participate in an activity that you had no interest in. Just try and give it a chance for a little while longer and you just might start to enjoy it. Other than that I don't know what to tell you.

I don't tell my karate teachers how I feel, but I did tell them it's too hard for me but they just were like "nonsense!"
My sisters love karate! They wouldn't stop begging my parents to sign us up so they did and they signed me up too even though I didn't want to.
I wish I could sue my parents.

Tell your parents you really, really, really, really hate Karate and than suggest something else you would like to do. Do you like any sports?

I did, many many times. Whenever I say one word about it, they explode! Last time I told them that, they said I'd get grounded for two weeks with no TV or computer. Frick them!
Nah, I don't want to be in any sports. I just wanna excersise at home.
Well, basketball is fun, but I'd stink at it with other people around.

Kay Scarpetta 04-17-2005, 04:57 PM My parents don't even freakin care :(
Lecture time. Sorry it's long.
Trust me, your parents do care. It took me a long, long time to realize it, but no matter what, your parents do care about you. If they didn't, they would not feed you, clothe you, let you live in their house, or send you to school to get a somewhat decent education. They'd let you out of the house at all hours of the day/night to get into drugs, get involved with gangs, or get into other miscellaneous law-breakings. They really wouldn't care what you did.
I don't know why they are making you take karate, but they must have a reason. Self-defense, activities to get you out of the house so you won't become a couch-potato, they have their own reasons- and sometimes, it is definitely hard for us kids to understand that, and until 18, we are still children- we cannot 'do what we want' until we are 18. I learned that lesson the hard way. Last year, my mother wouldn't let me hang out with any of my old friends because she didn't want me into drugs again. I hated her for the longest time... until I realized she was right. Now, I wake up every morning and thank her for keeping me safe.
I know this whole karate thing is a pain... but just try to make the best of it. For years I believed that my mother didn't care about me. I cursed her, I yelled at her, I damned her to hell. I really believed that I hated her. I can't say much about my father, because he's not around half the time- but it's certainly not that my mother didn't care. We just had, and still have, a horrendous time communicating. I'm only 15, 16 in a month- I don't know how old you are, but trust me. When you start highschool, and as you get older and encounter some of the problems many teenagers face, whether it be school issues, social issues, drugs, boyfriends, anything- whenever you have a problem, your mother WILL care, and WILL want/do the best thing for you. Your parents love you... don't ever take them for granted, because one day, they will not be here to guide you.
I'm sorry this was long, and I know it's definitely not what you wanted to hear. I'm not saying that every family is perfect- everyone has their problems. My dad has an alcohol issue- I have many other problems with my extended family- but all I'm saying is that there is someone in your family who cares about you unconditionally... mine happens to be my mother, and I know that I thank God or whatever higher-being there is for her everyday.

Hollow 04-17-2005, 05:54 PM I hate my parents! They can just die now for all I care!!!!!
My freaking Dad just said if I say "You shouldn't make me do karate if I don't wanna" or anything like that, I'll get my computer taken out of my room.
My parents make my life a living hell hole!
They're making you take karate because they care about you and think it would be good for you. We all have to do things we hate for our own benefit, like going to school. Parents have a greater realization of wants vs. needs than kids do. Children, especially teenagers, hate their parents because of their rules. They think they know what's best for themselves, when the truth is they don't, and think their parents hate them. Your parents working to protect you against your will shows how much they care about you. You may think they letting you quit just because you hate it would be loving, but they insist on doing what's good for you. That's what a parent who doesn't care about their child would do. They're not doing it to torture you. It isn't ruining your life. It may be extremely frustrating at the time, but it's not jeopardizing your future; it's preparing you for it.
You're lucky you have parents who care about you. If they didn't, they wouldn't show it. Millions of kids have parents who beat them and neglect their needs, such as clothing and food. Some are abused to DEATH. Have you ever heard of the book "a child called it"? It's a true story about a boy whose mom did just about everything she could to make his life a real living hell. She wished death on him, hardly let him eat, burned his arms on the stove, didn't buy him new clothes, made him inhale ammonia, among other things. Do you really think your parents should die for making take karate lessons? I can't emphasize it enough that they're only doing it to help you. I don't have parents to help me. My dad is flatout mean to me. He tells me i'm stupid and ridicules me for my mental disorders. He was mean to my mom too and made her cry. She ran away a few times because of him. He choked her once about five years ago and really split up the family for a while. The thing is, he has always been hard on me, and my mom defended me. And since she died and isn't here to do so anymore, he's been even crueler. It's like he's always wanted to treat me like that but didn't because of what my mom would do.
Having a computer in your room is a privilege, not a right. Discipline is the best option for arguing with them. If they let you do whatever you want, you'd be spoiled, and they don't want that to happen. You're taking everything you have for granted.
David 04-17-2005, 06:02 PM Hmm. This is a hard situation, but I remember when I was in 6th grade, I started karate, and I haaaaated it. But, my parents MADE me do it after school since I had no ride home, so I had no choice. Therefore, I just started making friends and I tried to have fun, and it worked. Eventually, when my parents saw that I was capable of accomplishing something, they allowed me to leave when I told them that "it's conflicting with school"
Superstar 04-18-2005, 03:26 AM Sorry about that :(

G-Force Glockstar 04-18-2005, 07:25 AM I'm sorry everyone, forget everything I said.....I was out of control yesterday. I still don't like karate, but yesterday I was just out of control.
My Dad did take my computer away, but luckily he gave it back later on.
I need to have better anger management, this one guy cussed me off at another board when I was complaning about karate.
It was at a hate board.
Anyway sorry....

could not have said it better myself. im sorry about your dad...my dad is the same way sometimes and the emotional trauma really builds up.
G-Force Glockstar 04-18-2005, 05:02 PM We are not mad at you. We just want you to realize that your parents are probably doing this for the better. You don't always realize everything at that moment, but it usually becomes visual later on. :)
