When you refer to "Three's Company", do you consider it a 1970s sitcom, or a 1980s sitcom? I know most of you are probably thinking both, but if you had to choose one, what would it be and why?

I think of it as a 1908's sitcom. It just had more and better seasons. I don't know any other reasons, but I liked the 80's better.

I picked the 70's because that's when this classic series started and I love Chrissy more than Cindy and Terri combined.

I consider it a 1970s sitcom because:

1. The show started in the 70s.
2. When you refer to "Three's Company", most people think of it airing back in the 70s, even though it aired in the 80s as well.
3. The innuendo was considered rique for that time (70s) whereas in the 80s, it was more accepted.
4. Bell Bottoms LOL (I know they wore bell bottoms in the 80s, but they started in the 70s).
5. If you hear "Three's Company" mentioned on TV, they usually refer to it as the 1970s sitcom, not the 1980s sitcom, though I've heard them occasionally say the 1970s and 80s sitcom.

I like the 80s episodes of Three's Company better:

The sexual innuendos have toned down in that time. It was getting old and tiring to a point it was forced especially in the Suzanne Somers years. The fourth season became unbearable to watch because of that and Chrissy was a total idiot. That got tiring to watch.
Janet became more likable and not so controlling of the action around the apartment. The early episodes showed Janet too controlling and bossy. She came across too parental and these were grown people she was dealing with. If I was, as an adult, spoken to in a parental manner like that I would had a thing or two to say to a person like that.
Janet became more desirable and attractive, that happened when she got rid of that horrible perm after the third season. Joyce DeWitt is quite attractive but they made Janet looked too plain early on. I loved the clothes she wore in the 80s episodes especially when she wore short skirts with her beautiful long hair.
The Priscilla Barnes episodes were good and entertaining to watch. The show brought more intelligence to it and not so much the adolescent sexual humor they were beaten to the ground in the early episodes
The relationship between Jack and Janet became more like brother and sister with an underlined romantic interest.

I have to say 1980's!!

They gave more for John to do! Don Knotts was better! I love Terri, Cindy & a little bit of Chrissy
