View Full Version : Alex
TVFactFan 04-10-2005, 07:18 PM The little boy who was added to the show while Mackenzie Phillips was temporarily during 1980-81 season, just wanted to know was he written out of the show by May 21, 1984? I watchedthe last appearance of Ann Ramono today once she moved to London for a job and was wondering where Alex was in 83-84 season or was he just absent from that particular episode?
seventies_sitcoms 04-11-2005, 07:09 PM I'm not sure when he was written out of the show, but I remember that I totally hated him! I found him annoying.
snl75 04-12-2005, 12:27 AM it was said that he moved back to il. to be with his mother
snl75 04-12-2005, 12:28 AM i forgot to add he was written out about 4 or 5 eps into season 9
Brian Damage 04-12-2005, 11:07 AM Good question, I'd like to know myself. It has been awhile since I've seen this show, so I don't remember much.
jamesanthony 04-12-2005, 08:35 PM I think it is either the first or second show in the last season where Ann and Sam come back from their honeymoon. Barbara's husband, Mark welcomes Ann back and she congratulates him on starting his dental practice. While standing at the door (Ann is complaining about Sam) Mark mentions that Alex went East to live with his mother.
BTW, the last episode where Ann leaves for England sounds interesting. Were all the players on the series at that time in it? Was Julie made mention of? I've seen an archived copy of the last episode which was a pilot for Schneider, but that episode is extremely lame. The episode where Ann leaves seems like it was a much better show.

Yes Julie was mentioned in the last episode Ann appeared in, Ann read a letter from Julie in that episode.

OK. last I heard of Julie she had run off somewhere to go find herself or something like that.
As for Alex, he should've left when Ron Rivkin did, he was a weak character and it is totally illogical that he would stay with Ann after his father died and that Schneider added on a room for him.
seventies_sitcoms 04-13-2005, 09:42 PM As I said before I hated Alex. Even seeing the clips on the reunion didn't make me like him. The show probably could've ended right before they added him to the cast. Whenever they try adding new main characters to shows it usually seems like those shows are starting to go down the tubes.
Oh, does anybody remember seeing Alex in "Jennifer Slept Here" with Ann Jillian. I think that was on in 1983 or 84. I remember watching it in junior high school. I think the song went something like "Jennifer slept here, but she never really lived here."

They had a flashback with Julie in it right before Ann left. I thought that was a nice touch.
To this day I haven't seen the Schneider spin-off episode. I decided not to watch it and count this as the last episode.

I remember that show. I saw a couple of episodes of it. It wasn't to bad.
seventies_sitcoms 04-13-2005, 09:53 PM I honestly don't think I have ever seen the Schenider spin-off episode. I can remember seeing the episode with Ann walking out of the empty apartment looking back from the doorway with a sad look on her face. I always thought that was the final episode. I never thought to tune-in the next week.

You did the right thing because that episode with Ann walking out was the finale. That next episode was a possibe set up episode for a Schneider spinoff which would have been a disaster-LOL
seventies_sitcoms 04-13-2005, 10:10 PM It would've been a disaster. I heard Corey Feldman was supposed to have been in the spinoff show. Instant failure right there!

I have to check, but I don;t think Barbara was in that episode after Ann leaves. But I think that episode with Ann will always be the real finale of ODAAT.

Barbara is in the very first scene of that episode which I think was called One Man's family. Schneider refers to her and Ann and the others as his adopted family.

It was called "another's Man Shoes". Was Barbara only in the very beginning?

Yes.
Tweety 05-13-2005, 08:56 PM Yeah, we all hated Alex too...we called him "The Pest"
eddie146 05-26-2005, 03:32 PM Glenn Scarpelli was too effeminate!!
TVFactFan 05-26-2005, 06:14 PM Glenn Scarpelli was too effeminate!!
Yes I agree. He was a very ODD Teenage Boy
Brian Damage 05-27-2005, 10:42 AM For years I thought that Alex was a young Adrian Zmed.

LOL! I can see what you mean. Where is Adrian Zmed today I wonder?
Brian Damage 05-30-2005, 12:25 PM The last I saw him was on TJ Hooker.
Pug Lover 06-14-2005, 11:47 PM I think the only character who left ODAAT without a trace or explaination was Ginny Wrobliki.
ThomasE 06-15-2005, 08:46 PM Ahh, Ginny. I loved her character and she really was funny. I was disappointd when I stopped seeing her in later episodes. As far as Alex goes, I am in the minority because I thought he was a sweet kid. I loved him, but I think the one time that I could not stand Alex was when he broke Ann's plant and I think he hit her and she slapped him across the face. Go Ann!

Minority of at least two. I liked Alex too, I thought he was a good kid.
But I will say that as a young kid watching the show, I always thought of witches when I'd see Ginny.
