View Full Version : Bruce interview Tamm 04-04-2005, 02:48 PM This was in the newspaper yesterday - http://www.sundayherald.com/48850 gypsygem81 04-04-2005, 05:27 PM Cool, great article. Definately no reunion then. I didn't think they showed Cybill in a very good light though. I saw bits of that Little Ant and Dec interview. Unfortunate that Bruce wasn't clued up, but hilarious. Love Gem Tazmania 04-05-2005, 05:13 PM It's time they meet, so he can give her that hug... marla 04-05-2005, 07:37 PM this interview captured something for me that i haven't been able to see in an american interview. there's a mystery for me- in that i don't really like bruce willis. i have no idea why-it's more like a feeling of boredom. i do love, love, love him as david addison and in some of his movies. in other words, i love his acting, i just have a real apathy towards him. and it's not his politics, lifestyle, money, private life or anything else i can figure out. maybe i love some of his work so much that i feel i should like him when he's not working, and that's just not the way it is. i think i'll skip the interviews from now on and just watch his work. TheCursedRedBaron 04-06-2005, 08:27 AM Do you need to be 'clued up' when you're being interviewed by ten year olds? :P Tamm 04-06-2005, 04:42 PM i don't really like bruce willis. i have no idea why-it's more like a feeling of boredom. i do love, love, love him as david addison and in some of his movies. in other words, i love his acting, i just have a real apathy towards him. and it's not his politics, lifestyle, money, private life or anything else i can figure out. maybe i love some of his work so much that i feel i should like him when he's not working, and that's just not the way it is. Marla, I understand. I too love Bruce in Moonlighting, I love him in some of his films and even on Friends but in real life - nothing. I suppose we can't all like all people ... Tamm ps I still think he looks really good though ;) and the article had some nice pictures in the hard copy version Pitooey 04-06-2005, 05:11 PM There's something about Bruce that I can't quite put my finger on either. I use to like him but I've changed my mind. I do wish these moonlighting stars would get together though. marla 04-06-2005, 07:29 PM as far as sex appeal: david addison drives me crazy bruce willis bores me to tears. i do think bruce willis is an amazing actor to pull that off. MulberryGal 04-11-2005, 04:04 AM Very good article, very honest and pretty good journalism. Not the usual slagging him off for no good reason or fawning all over him you often get. I agree with Taz, I'd like to see that hug too! :D I think all this shows is that Bruce is a damn fine actor and he's not David Addison and never really has been!! Mul *Leanne* 05-02-2005, 03:59 PM I really love Bruce Willis as David Addison too, but he's not the same in real life. I think it would be great for cybill and Bruce to meet up now beacuse I dont think that there will be a reuninon show :-( xx MulberryGal 05-03-2005, 03:42 AM As I've said before, much as I'd love to see Bruce and Cybill meet up in real life, I wouldn't want to see a reunion show, I think it would be far too late and if it wasn't the same, it would ruin it for me... Buy hey, that's just my opinion! ;) Mul BSDDomi 07-16-2005, 01:45 PM I agree. Bruce Willis is a great actor, he did a very good job as David Addison on "Moonlighting" and I love his movies but that's it...I don't really like him as a real person, then again I don't know him personally but what I've read about him and his attitude is enough for me to say no thanks... It would, however, be nice if Bruce and Cybill could meet, hug as he said and talk about old times...it seems that there is alot to talk about. One thing's confusing though, usually it's Bruce and Cybill never got along they hated each other but you have the great chemistry onscreen and I still think that you can't fake it...if you hate each other it somehow always shines through...also from what I've read mostly from Cybill it seems that they 'liked' each other... MulberryGal 07-18-2005, 03:51 AM Hey BSDDomi, I agree that I'd love to see Bruce and Cybill together for a TV show or even for DVD commentaries or something. :D You never know...one day.. I really don't think it's a matter that anyone hates anyone else to be honest, it's all too long ago for feelings to be that high, and as you said, they couldn't have created that chemistry if it was all about hate. The press tend to make a meal out of any arguments on a show and only tend to show certain sides of people, so like us, they don't actually know Bruce or Cybill as 'real people' at all. I feel that if we only know someone through what the press have said, we really can't know them... I expect if I was interviewed on TV or for a newspaper I wouldn't come across as I really am either (but maybe that's a good thing!!!)  Mul BSDDomi 07-18-2005, 07:43 AM Hey BSDDomi, I agree that I'd love to see Bruce and Cybill together for a TV show or even for DVD commentaries or something. :D You never know...one day.. I expect if I was interviewed on TV or for a newspaper I wouldn't come across as I really am either (but maybe that's a good thing!!!)  Mul Hey Mul, yes,a 'reunion' of that sort would be nice. It doesn't have to be a movie, just a little something with them sitting together talk about old times, the good and the bad times they shared...we know we all have them... thinking about The Nanny reunion..it was fun, it was too bad they showed too many clips but we didn't get to hear much of them and their memories of the good ol times.. I know that it would be great to have such a thing for Moonlighting...also a perfect way to forgive for the two main stars...who else would want to see such a reunion? I loved the audio commentaries they did but just like they did with the Sledge Hammer! audio commentaries they always did them separately...ie. the main stars never got together to talk about one particular episode, usually it was just one person, an actor with a producer etc...had they used Bruce and Cybill for one Moonlighting episode that would have been nice or Cybill with Allyce or Cybill with Allyce and Bruce...maybe something to think about for future Moonlighting releases.. Mul, I know what you mean by not coming across as you really are...I don't even want to think about what I would be like..or even worse, what they would make out of it...although I don't mind facing big audiences, I've done alot of that in the past...when I was younger my passion was theatre and I always had to give speeches :p ryangie97 07-18-2005, 11:53 AM yeah, a commentary with Bruce and Cybil would be great. What I'd really love to see(though I know probably won't happen) would be to see a little teaser at the beginning like they did in some of the shows. You know, in character, hi Im' Maddie Hayes, I'm David Addison sort of thing, with Caron writing some hilarious lines. BSDDomi 07-18-2005, 11:58 AM Yeah I'd like to see that, too, ryangie97. MulberryGal 07-18-2005, 12:03 PM Wow what a great idea!!! Now that would be very cool for the season 3 and 4 DVDS!! Mul dreams200377 07-19-2005, 04:15 PM Hi, I was thinking the exact same thing. We don't need a reunion show, but to have Bruce and Cybill do a teaser for a dvd release would be great. A nice way to give fans closure to the best show ever. Lunar Eclipse still upsets me, so that would be great! dihop 07-20-2005, 11:08 AM I agree. Bruce Willis is a great actor, he did a very good job as David Addison on "Moonlighting" and I love his movies but that's it...I don't really like him as a real person, then again I don't know him personally but what I've read about him and his attitude is enough for me to say no thanks... This is a perfect example of letting the press and papparazzi form your opinion. I have met Bruce Willis, and have spent some time in his presence, and I will tell you he is one of the most caring people I have ever met. He is funny and friendly, and shows a great deal of interest in all the people he encounters.....and I may say, all the while he is being mobbed and sometimes bugged. He is a true gentleman, and I really hate when he is characterized otherwise. And of course, he is/was an absolutely scrumptious David Addison. diane BSDDomi 07-20-2005, 12:57 PM Diane, thanks...I'm glad he's not such a bad person in real life...you know what I meant was that I don't judge anyone by what the press tells me about a person, after all they can make up a lot of things...that's why I think that you need to get to know a person before you can make up your mind...I was just trying to say that if he really is like what I heard about him, I wouldn't like him...I'm glad you had such a good time :). marla 07-20-2005, 04:54 PM about the chemistry between cybill shephard and bruce willis--i really don't think it was real for 'real' life, but real for 'reel' life. someone in a discussion said that bruce willis had said that they faked it for the cameras, and i have no reason to think that he would lie. he really is a very, very good actor. and cybill shepard is not only a good actress, she really knows how to do promotion. i think they were a very good comedy/drama team who had that special, unique ability to create chemistry for the cameras. MulberryGal 07-21-2005, 03:37 AM I'm really really glad you posted Diane, as someone who has met Bruce in 3D and knows that he's a very kind and caring man. I haven't met him in real life, but I've "met" him lots of times via the chat room at BW.com, and he's always been very funny, warm and kind to me. I also know lots of peeps at the BW site who, like Diane, have met him and have told me what he's like in the flesh. The fact that he regularly interacts on his site with fans (over 7000 members and counting) still impresses the hell outta me! I agree with you all that the press have created their own view of what he's like as a person and often create stories to fit... Gotta agree with your comment about him being an "absolutely scrumptious David Addison" as well  :D Mul marla 07-21-2005, 03:57 PM i think there are so many ways to get an opinion about someone famous. of course, there's the press and the papparazzi...there is also the famous person himself. like on chat/talk shows. i think i was in high school when i saw bruce willis on the 'actors studio' which has to be the kindest show on the planet to actors. and the host asked bruce willis what his favorite swear word was and bruce willis said 'cu*t'. i've been asked to meet him many times and have always said 'no thank you'. this is not to say he isn't wonderful or take away from what others like about him (i pay money to watch his movies--i also pay money to go to ball games where i've met athletes i don't care for)--but sometimes people have a valid reason, to them, why they don't care for someone famous. MulberryGal 07-26-2005, 04:45 AM I agree Marla, some people have completely valid reasons why they don't like a famous person, whether its due to having met them in real life, or not liking something they said when interviewed as the case may be. Having said that, the most famous person I've ever met was Worzel Gummidge...and he seemed perfectly nice to me! Mul CyBr 07-26-2005, 07:13 AM I agree with you both. I have some definite impressions of people but they are never based on what I read or the papparazzi! I believe there are many other ways to form a valid opinion. caitybelle 07-26-2005, 10:24 AM i LOVE the bumper idea -- that is so easily achieved by all involved and is such a simple thing -- GCC, BW, AND CS, are you listening??????? hook us up on the next dvds! i have to say that i think bruce is probably a great guy in person and just majorly guards his true personality from the press, thanks to the antics of such lovely pubs as the nat'l pit. That being said, i do understand where the malaise of some fans comes from, since the tone of these pieces is most likely deliberately induced by the writers (who themselves may be annoyed at not getting the "straight poop" and thereby foist it upon him). so what the reader reads is what the writer wants you to read. However, I did find it slightly bizzarro when he recently appeared on ellen d. show and was like, "did you guys know stamps were 37 cents?" um, who hasn't mailed his own stuff in a while? but that is not a personal flaw -- simply the lovely condition of being rich enough to never attend to your own bills. besides, i think, given his web site, he's much more of the cyber-world mail now. marla 07-27-2005, 11:45 PM Mulberry Gal I looked up Worzel Gummidge, because I didn't know who he was (and I can't stand not knowing!) and he's as cute as a button. Especially in the scare crow outfit. Don knotts is sort of an American version of Jon Pertwee (Wortzel). He's got some pretty funny fan sites too. Now I want to see the show! P.S. I'm trying to leave my e.e.cummings phase and write with caps. MulberryGal 07-28-2005, 05:16 AM Hey Marla! Love the reference to e e cummings!! Glad you know who Worzel Gummidge is now!! It's not much of a claim to fame, but its the best I have! Sad I know. Jon Pertwee also played Doctor Who for some years, if you know your British Sci-fi TV! If any of you know the rock group Coldplay, I went to a wedding last year which the drummer also attended!! Woohoo! Hey Caitybelle, I agree with what you say about Bruce being guarded with the press, he doesn't seem to let his sense of humour come thru for some reason and can give the wrong impression. Frustrating really...as when people have met him face to face, they say what a great guy he is. That's life! Mul gypsygem81 07-28-2005, 07:04 AM Glad you know who Worzel Gummidge is now!! It's not much of a claim to fame, but its the best I have! Sad I know. Jon Pertwee also played Doctor Who for some years, if you know your British Sci-fi TV! If any of you know the rock group Coldplay, I went to a wedding last year which the drummer also attended!! Woohoo! I used to love Worzel Gummidge when I was a kid! How did you meet him?Wow, Coldplay are really huge now too. If you know anything about Welsh bands, I met Stuart Cable from the Stereophonics last year at the Brecon Jazz Festival. And Mark from Catatonia was a regular at the pub I used to work at in Cardiff. MulberryGal 07-28-2005, 08:10 AM I met him when he was making a personal appearance at a country show thing I went to when I was a kid. I seem to remember lots of little kids like me crowding around his tractor!! :o Wow, you seem to know most of the Welsh rock scene! I've got a cousin who lives in Wales and she's met several people from those bands too... Mul caitybelle 07-29-2005, 09:34 AM Hey Caitybelle, I agree with what you say about Bruce being guarded with the press, he doesn't seem to let his sense of humour come thru for some reason and can give the wrong impression. Frustrating really...as when people have met him face to face, they say what a great guy he is. That's life! Mul Ah well, at least he's a nice guy in reality. I totally understand the interview facade. It would be much more upsetting if it were the other way around, you know? Besides, someone who takes the time to chat with fans on his site -- that's a cool dude. marla 07-30-2005, 01:44 AM one place where bruce willis is Funny (besides when he's acting in moonlighting) is on the david letterman show. these two have great comedic chemisty, and letterman makes fun of willis and willis let's himself be made fun of. i try to never miss bruce willis on david letterman. i remember one skit at the beginning of a show where they both were showing each other photographs of their children. and letterman was saying, oh, that's a beautiful daughter, kind of thing. and then letterman said to willis "and that's your son?" and the camera showed a close up of a picture of ashton kutcher. and another time willis had to host the show alone, because letterman was sick, and willis was terrified to put it mildly. but that didn't stop him from flirting with a beautiful guest who had appeared in playboy magazine. and she was also in the, i think it's called, the pussycat review, a sort of stripping show. and willis said to her "i've stripped before" and she kind of squelled "Really" and they rolled a tape of him in a bikini dancing before a bunch of guys. and the time they were interviewing a bunch of people about a movie he had comming out and one man said something like it was a boring movie, and willis came up behind him and covered his mouth and tried to drag him away. i could go on and on about willis on letterman, like i do about him on moonlighting. his good parts are that he's fun and funny. |
