After a long bedridden illness my dad passed on at 4:30 this morning. He was surrounded by his family and died peacefully in his sleep. The funeral service will be Thursday morning. Just wanted to let you know. :(

I feel very sorry for your father, Penny Lane. What illness was it?

He had prostate cancer but after treatment he revived and then got very weak.The cancer came back and it weakened him so much that he couldn't do anything for himself. Totally dependent on my Mom and hospice. Basically he just wore out. But thankfully he wasn't in any pain and communicated with us almost to the end. He was 82.

This has been a rather difficult past few months. I'm still not feeling better with the loss of my mother, so I know how you must feel.

I'm really and truly sorry about your loss. It's something you never get over. I'm sure your father wanted you to enjoy the things in life to keep you busy and he'd be proud of any accomplishment you may encounter.

My father is 62 today (will be 63 in April) was diagnosed with prostate cancer in July 2003 and is also a diabetic and it was diagnosed very early. My family decided what treatment he should receive, traditional surger (removal of the prostate), chemo therapy or a new treatment he got called I.M.R.T. (Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy) where certain levels of radiation in a safe level are beamed by using lasers on the cancer and destroys the cells.

If your dad was aware of this treatment, it would've saved his life. Also, stem-cells could have helped in your father's treatment as well.

I'm so sorry hear about your dad. My dad passed away almost 3 years ago, sometimes I still think he will just walk thru that door like he never left. I know though that my dad and your dad are in a better place.

I sorry about your loss,If you ever feel sad just think of the good times you
had with your dad.When I lose a family member that usually helps me. :(
