Janet McFarland 03-26-2005, 06:16 PM I don't hate it, I just dislike it sometimes. Like who cares if Britney Spears might be pregnant? I mean, I don't know her, so why would I care? I mean I like alot of actors and actresses but some people just care way too much about them. ABlairican Pie 03-26-2005, 06:18 PM I hate the fact that I'm not there. :( I miss it. Steve M. 03-26-2005, 06:31 PM Waht do I hate about Hollywood? Bad movies, movies based on TV shows, movies based on cartoon characters, sequels, remakes, and remakes of French movies (which always suck!). Mysty Eyes 03-26-2005, 09:19 PM "Hollywood" is a state of mind. It is a lifestyle. It really has very little to do with Hollywood, the location, anymore. "Hollywood" can be in Los Angeles or London; New York or Moscow. It can be anywhere. "Hollywood" exists wherever there are celebrities, be they movie, TV, or musical personalities; politicians, writers, or Paris Hilton types. They can have talent; many do not. The commonality of them all is popularity; they are known to large segments of the population. What do I hate about it? The pretentiousness. The self-importance. The privilege, which is frequently overexercised. TJL 03-26-2005, 09:45 PM Two words: Ashton Kutcher. ;) Belair 03-26-2005, 10:09 PM Two words: Ashton Kutcher. ;) Man he is conceited! ABlairican Pie 03-26-2005, 10:26 PM I guess because I'm finishing my screenplay for my scriptwriting course, I really feel that I may one day contribute something positive to Hollywood. I get excited writing it, but sometimes it can be a challenge. :typing: Janice 03-26-2005, 10:32 PM Two words: Ashton Kutcher. Two words: Demi and Jealous  Actually, Ashton was on SNL last week and was really funny. In his opening monolog, Demi was in the audience made up to look like she was about 80. She went onstage with him, and their banter was hilarious. TheGreatPretender 03-27-2005, 12:26 AM Two words: Demi and Jealous  Actually, Ashton was on SNL last week and was really funny. I mean he was in "Dude, Where's My Car?" which is one of the greatest movies ever made. Plus he's in That 70s Show which is also hilarious. I must say he looked hot as hell. The other funny one was when he had that pushup contest in the office. He was such a goofball. I've been reading that he and Demi are having a baby and getting married. Who knows if it's true or not. Number 9 Dream 03-27-2005, 01:37 AM I agree. I think he's fairly talented. I don't know too much about his personality or whatever, but I do enjoy the characters he plays. Ashton Kutcher is actually pretty cool. Channel.I just cant STAND it anymore. All celebrities are,are people with more money than you and I.Thats it. Who else hates Hollywood and everything it stands for!? I can't stand when on the red carpet at the awards shows, they are asked "What are you wearing tonight", like who cares if it's Valentino, Vera Wang, or whoever?? Then they all get these gifts bags and the stuff they give them are pretty expensive. These celebrities can afford all this stuff, and the money wasted on all that crap could go to better use. Then the stuff they can buy, they buy the stupidest stuff. I was reading where Brad Pitt has been staying in a hotel. Why? He has 4 houses in the area!! Even though he has the money, that's just wasteful. And I cannot stand the term "bling bling". Everytime I hear somebody say it on TV, I just roll my eyes. That's Hollywood for you. Sterling Holobyte 03-27-2005, 02:01 AM The multitude of awards shows. How many times a year do these people have to have some big overblown extravaganza to pat themselves on the back anyway?! Bad movies, movies based on TV shows, movies based on cartoon characters, sequels, remakes, and remakes of French movies (which always suck!).Ditto 2. crystals 03-28-2005, 02:30 AM I hate the superficialness about Hollywood. There are some good musicians and some good actors and good directors in Hollywood, but not many. I also hate the way on the awards show they always talk about what people are wearing, like who is the designer or something. I'm thinking who cares what you're wearing. You're there to celebrate the accomplishments of actors, directors, screenwriters, producers, etc. in the film industry. I swear, if they all showed up wearing casual attire, I wouldn't care. It wouldn't stop me from buying music or watching films. In fact, if Hollywood went casual I think that would be cool. dawsongirl 03-28-2005, 05:33 AM I guess because I'm finishing my screenplay for my scriptwriting course, I really feel that I may one day contribute something positive to Hollywood. Bad movies, movies based on TV shows, movies based on cartoon characters, sequels, remakes, and remakes of French movies (which always suck!). Not to mention all the remakes of Japanese horror flicks and remakes of Britcoms. Leave well enough alone. Steve M. 03-28-2005, 11:18 AM But [Queen Latifah has] had a talk show, doesn't that count for something? ;) To quote the great French phliospoher Marcel Marceau, NO! ("What did he say?" "I don't know, I don't understand French." :D  ) Steve M. 03-28-2005, 11:23 AM Antoher thing I dislike about Hollywood is that overabundance of stars. Most of these stars aren't good actors, and the lamely written and directed movies they star in make them look more talented than they really are, when in fact their roles aren't really that challenging or complex. Hollywood honoors a time-honored American rule of thumb - if you can't have quality, get quantity. This rule also explains how America can have three thousand colleges and universities - an average of sixty for each state, including Mississippi and North Dakota - yet fail to produce many people of high intellectual caliber. EmoJoe 03-28-2005, 11:53 AM people becoming big stars by riding the coat tails of someone else. and actresses becoming singers. :yeahthat Janice 03-28-2005, 12:02 PM Despite the fact that I'm the biggest movie buff I know and I have the Hollywood Sign as my avatar, I can't stand Hollywood's attitude. With exceptions, most have over-inflated egos and a sense of self-importance that nauseates me. The awards shows have gotten out of hand. Too many of them with all the stars telling each other how wonderful and important they are. Lending their names to important causes and charities is great, but I can't stand how certain stars think that because they can act or sing, that it makes them an authority on everything. I'm paying to see them perform, not to have their beliefs shoved down my throat. |
