leafan36 03-10-2005, 09:54 AM Has anyone heard anything about ratings for last nights episode? Also, I haven't seen it yet as I was playing hockey last night. I'm at work right now, and am contemplating going home at lunch to watch it. Good move???

Brent88 03-10-2005, 09:56 AM They should be out in a few hours... between 11am and 1pm Eastern.
AD FAN 03-10-2005, 11:10 AM cross your fingers everyone
Pavan 03-10-2005, 12:20 PM The overnights for Wednesday's ratings have been delayed. The fast nationals (Nielsen Rating) should be in soon, if not delayed as well.
Pavan 03-10-2005, 12:23 PM OK here are the ratings (it's not good)... 4th place in time slot behind ABC, FOX and CBS, witha 4.6/7 Nielsen Rating. That is under 7 million viewers, but final numbers will be available tonight.

That's very bad... NBC will not keep that show on with pathetic numbers like that.
and last night it faced RERUNS(except for the Rather special). It's all worse from here with Survivor new the next 2 weeks and then Lost all-new.
Pavan 03-10-2005, 12:28 PM Lost is too strong. Even a rerun posted close to an 8 rating/12 share.
tvfan0101 03-10-2005, 12:29 PM Well, this is disappointing.
Pavan 03-10-2005, 12:35 PM Refreshing everyone's memory on how the show is doing this season...
5.5/9 8.61 million - September 26th, 2004 [A18-49: 3.0/8]
4.9/8 7.49 million - October 3rd, 2004 [A18-49: 2.4/6]
4.5/7 7.04 million - October 10th, 2004 [A18-49: 2.4/6]
4.3/7 6.36 million - October 17th, 2004 [A18-49: 2.2/5]
4.1/6 6.61 million - October 24th, 2004 [A18-49: 2.2/5]
4.5/7 7.05 million - October 31st, 2004 [A18-49: 2.3/6]
5.1/7 7.49 million - November 7th, 2004 [A18-49: 2.4/5]
5.5/8 8.64 million - November 14th, 2004 [A18-49: 3.1/7]
5.4/7 8.82 million - November 21st, 2004 [A18-49: 2.8/7]
5.0/8 8.25 million - January 2nd, 2005 [A18-49: 2.6/6]
4.4/7 6.99 million - January 9th, 2005 [A18-49: 2.2/5]
4.8/7 7.38 million - January 23rd, 2005 [A18-48: 2.2/4]
4.8/7 7.22 million - January 30th, 2005 [A18-48: 2.5/6]
All are first run episodes. NBC has not aired any encores. It got off to a decent start, but unacceptable for Sundays. 5.5 would be excellent for Fridays, but even the lower 4.5 ones would be bad for Fridays.
So last night's 4.6/7 rating is down from the last two telecasts in January.
AD FAN 03-10-2005, 12:41 PM pav....what website has last nights ratings on it??
Pavan 03-10-2005, 12:42 PM Here are the adults 18-49 ratings for the 8pm timeslot. It was worse, 5th place, behind UPN!
FOX “That ‘70s Show” 4.6 average for two episodes (original and repeat)
ABC “Lost” encore 4.0
UPN “America’s Next Top Model” 2.3
CBS "Dan Rather special" 2.3
NBC "American Dreams" 2.0

Didn't get this from a public website. But, tv.zap2it.com should have it up soon, if not already.

LuV2DreeM 03-10-2005, 01:34 PM The latest I could find......since we are all concerned and hope for the best.
From zap2it.com:
FOX also led among adults 18-49, posting a 6.8 rating in the demographic advertisers covet. ABC, 4.0, finished second, while CBS's 3.0 nipped NBC's 2.9 for third. UPN averaged 1.6 and The WB 0.9.
A rerun of "Lost" won the 8 p.m. hour for ABC with a 7.9/12. FOX got a 6.3/10 from two episodes of "That '70s Show," finishing just ahead of Dan Rather's CBS send-off, "A Reporter Remembers." The first Wednesday airing of "American Dreams" posted a 4.6/7 for NBC, on par with the show's season average. "America's Next Top Model" earned a 3.4/5 for UPN. The WB went with a repeat of "Smallville."
I don't know how to read these numbers....but the rest of you seem to think it's not good. Maybe better numbers come out later tonight, as some have said these are early numbers.
It does say we "matched our average".
Peace.
Great8 03-10-2005, 01:44 PM Well, that's not good, and it's only going to get worse the next 2 weeks, when it goes up against Survivor. It would've been nice to have seen more than a couple promos for it, but that probably wouldn't have helped much. It held most of it's core audience with the shift in timeslots, but that's not good enough.
How did the West Wing do? Any way to find out the ratings for the last 15 mins. of AD-- maybe they were higher, with people waiting for WW to come on. I know, I'm grasping.
:(
PrettyinPink55 03-10-2005, 05:28 PM This is just awful!!! :( :( :( :( :(

West Wing was better... second in it's timeslot(almost tied with ABC) and behind FOX of course.
At 9 p.m., "American Idol," 15.7/23, combined with "The Simple Life 3," 8.5/13, to give FOX a big lead. NBC moved up to second with "The West Wing," 6.8/10. "Alias" was third for ABC with a 6.4/10. CBS dropped to fourth with a "King of Queens" repeat, 5.5/8, and "Yes, Dear," 6.2/9. A rerun of "Kevin Hill" kept UPN in fifth, ahead of The WB's "Jack & Bobby" repeat.

I don't feel good about only getting 2.0 in the 18-49 adult group....this was supposed to be our strentgh.

Storywriter 03-11-2005, 01:14 AM All I can say is at least it beat America's next top Model.Fiinally Ad beats a trashy fake reality show maybe it will beat the crap out of that thing they call Survivior .Mel
LuV2DreeM 03-11-2005, 02:10 PM Well, I'll tell ya.
If we "beat the crap out of that thing they call Survivor".....I GUARANTEE we will not only be renewed for next year, but:
1. We will recieve an award for the "biggest comeback in the history of network television.
2. We will recieve an award for the "biggest turnaround in the history of sports".....even though we aren't a sports team.
3. The moon will be blue.
4. Cows will fly.
5. The Easter Bunny is alive and healthy.
6. The Tooth Fairy is real..........and has a lot of money, just waiting to give it to little children.
7. Law and Order will have no further spinoffs.
8. Jerry Bruckheimer doesn't know a thing about producing (Cold Case, CSI, etc.)
9. Paul Simon had no chance of a career after splitting from Simon and Garfunkel.
10. The Boston Red Sox will never win the World Series.
Anyone else have some "gems" to offer in this light?
Peace.

ADsupporter 03-14-2005, 08:04 PM It should be noted that NBC’s highly touted and heavily advertised
“Contender” did not fare well in taking AD’s Sunday slot.
In fact, it didn’t fare as well as AD does in that time period,
or as well as AD did in it’s new Wednesday slot. This won’t be lost
on the NBC suits. AD’s big problem is finishing it’s season up
against “Survivor” in it’s new Wed slot. But remember, NBC won’t
expect it to compete, but will pay attention if it holds it’s core numbers
and audience against “Survivor”. Be sure everyone shows strong
support in these final weeks for the finest family drama on television.
LuV2DreeM 03-14-2005, 10:55 PM Anyone got the numbers for Contender so we can compare it to ours?
Peace.
AD FAN 03-14-2005, 11:06 PM 6.7 million viewers for the Contender on Sunday night. (zap2it.com)
This proves that the timeslot, not necessarily the show in the timeslot, is not great.
patriot:
LuV2DreeM 03-15-2005, 02:43 PM If it's the timeslot that is the problem on Sunday nights, then the production costs of the show is probably the problem.
I don't really know the industry that well, but you have to think that these reality shows probably cost alot less to produce.
I don't think "Joe's off the street" command the money that professional actors/actresses do.
And the sets and lease fees for studio time are probably more expensive than just having something filmed on the street.
Maybe NBC knows the competition is tough and they are putting a show in that timeslot that is more affordable.....given they will only come in 3rd or 4th in the ratings.
Only my guess.
There is a chance the high quality of our show is the problem for Sunday nights.
Great.........quality is a problem. There you go. But remember, this is not life......this is only tv.
Peace.
Brent88 03-17-2005, 12:52 PM Ratings were worse last night than the previous week... I don't see how NBC can bring this show back. These ratings are beyond unacceptable.
"Survivor: Palau," airing on Wednesday to make room for NCAA tournament coverage Thursday, scored a 10.7/17 for CBS at 8 p.m. ABC grabbed second with a repeat of "Lost," 5.9/9. An hour's worth of "That '70s Show" on FOX came in third, ahead of "American Dreams," 4.1/6, on NBC. "America's Next Top Model," 3.5/5, finished fifth, and a "Smallville" rerun on The WB brought up the rear.
Storywriter 03-17-2005, 01:12 PM Well at least we beat the top model again. That's about all I have to say now I'm kinda busy at work.Mel

Storywriter 03-17-2005, 01:24 PM Here's a glimmer hope for you I guess.Last night when the announcer mentioned the last two episodes of the Seasons. The exact words were don't miss the final two episodes of this Season and nothing of him saying it being the final two eps of the series.Mel
ADsupporter 03-17-2005, 01:49 PM We should all know where the show stands by the end of next week. When we see the synopsis for the season ender we will know which "ending" is being aired. Two were filmed. One a cliffhanger, the other is lights out. I'm afraid it's going to take a miracle - Wednesday's numbers were dismal. Let's hope.
Brent88 03-17-2005, 03:07 PM I don't think it'll be cancelled til after the season finale airs... and I do expect it to be. So many shows in the past have been like that(countless sitcoms included that I won't even try to name).
Should mention... West Wing was 3rd in it's timeslot beating Alias which had a STRONGER lead-in.
FOX dominated at 9 p.m. with the "Idol" results show, 14.9/23, and "The Simple Life 3," 8.3/13. CBS dropped to second with "The King of Queens," 7.1/11, and "Yes, Dear," 6.8/11. "The West Wing," 6.5/10, moved NBC into third, while "Alias" managed only a 5.6/8 for ABC. UPN stayed in fifth with a "Kevin Hill" rerun. The WB aired a repeat of "Jack & Bobby."

Do you or does anyone else know if that is a normal thing to say season, not series ending on a show that is hanging on by a thread? I'm just curious.

You know, I was wondering the same thing. I really don't know. I am trying to remember back to all of my other shows that had been renewed for this season from last season, and whether or not they said that, and I think some of them did. I think it is something NBC does for all of it's shows if I'm not wrong....

American Dreams was 5th place in timeslot for adults 18-49 Wednesday with a 1.9 rating (UPN had a 2.4). 4th place in total viewers with 5.81 million viewers and households with only a 4.0/6. UPN almost was 4th though, they had 5.24 million with Top Model and a 3.5/6 in households.
And as for Alias, it did fine. A Lost encore had 8.92 million viewers, Alias had 8.5 million viewers. That is not bad up against American Idol. Most Alias viewers watch American Idol. West Wing is more of an older show that is why it is not effected much. Alias built on Lost in adults 18-49 from 2.7 to 3.5. West Wing had a 2.8.
All I will say is barely beating UPN is not good. UPN is not even available in most areas. UPN is beating the show in adults. So either AD is gone next season or for sure it will not be on Wednesdays at 8.
Storywriter 03-18-2005, 01:13 PM Do you or does anyone else know if that is a normal thing to say season, not series ending on a show that is hanging on by a thread? Worse than last week.........and we had Paris Hilton on to try to bring on some viewers. I don't know what we can do to bring on more viewers......we seem to be sinking each week.
Who knows.........maybe it will all turn around next week.
Peace.
ADfan 03-21-2005, 03:07 AM It really confuses me, not only is it a great show, with wonderful storylines, But you would think that mixing in, some of the larger stars right now, musical and otherwise would generate more of a viewing. If "Ms.Hilton" didn't bring in more curious viewers then I don't know what will.

Amen to that ADfan! I think AD does a great job mixing in modern day celebrities into playing important artists or figures in the 60's, and if Paris Hilton didn't draw in viewers, well, what will? I'm afraid that only people eating cockroaches constitutes as interesting nowadays.
LuV2DreeM 03-21-2005, 09:42 PM Even if bringing in people eating cockroaches might work........they wouldn't do it merely for the fact that our show is about the 60's.
People eating cockroaches wasn't on then.
I can only wish a show showing that would have failed back then.
Who knows?
Probably wouldn't have made it past the censors.

newsie007 03-21-2005, 10:36 PM JEEZ.... Ok, Ok... so the numbers DO look dismal. BAD even...
But man, if everyone who supposedly "supports" this show's renewal can only write repetitive, repetitive, repetitive posts about dismal numbers...
AND.... also so-called "FANS" proclaiming the death of the show before NBC "officially" does....
... then just roll over, "play dead"... and move on and forget about the show... which is your prerogative.
But some of the posts in recent days have more doom and gloom about the show already being dead BEFORE NBC even declares it.
Ever occur to anyone that maybe NBC even CASUALLY monitors fan sites like this one... to see if the fans will really stick with the show...
.... or if fans are just willing to throw in the towel before NBC even makes a public decision????
... making their possible decision to cancel the show all the easier to justify?
Maybe that's not the case... but even to the most casual observer of the negative posts in recent days... and on this thread about "the numbers... oh, the TERRIBLE numbers"... various fans have obviously already given up hope.
This is most definitely a radical analogy... but if you had a good friend in the hospital on life support... would you pull the plug yourself just cuz' things "look bad"
... or would you wait for your friend to finally "flat-line" before giving up????
JEEZ again... if those fans who post ratings numbers and declare there's no hope for renewal before it's even official...
... then WHY should you expect NBC excutives to feel any different?
Constant posts saying - in essence - "oh the ratings suck!.... OH, the numbers are down, there's NO hope.... OH We're gonna get our butts kicked by Survivor, so give up any hope of renewal!!!!!"
Maybe all that's true... but not yet.
If ya already feel that the show is dead and buried.... save yourself some time on what you obviously feel is a LOST CAUSE....
.... stay off this site... and apply for a job as an NBC executive.
Peace.

ADfan 03-22-2005, 02:19 AM I totally agree, people seemed to have more of a moral standing back then. Anything goes on tv by todays standards. It makes you miss or long for a time when it wasn't just about ratings and money.
