I do sometimes,But I feel annoyed when you have to call the front
desk for clean towels, the toilet won't work, shampoo, soap etc.
I even think the room smell sometimes,Ugh one time we stayed
at this motel in New Mexico during vacation and the whole room
smelling like **** and vomit!,I felt nauseated the whole damn time.
I told my parents to call the front desk and tell them to switch to
another room, but they didn't want too since we already had paid.

My mother would have a coronary if our rooms weren't spotless. It's great when we get nice, clean people who know how to pick up after themselves, but that's becoming a less and less common thing these days. You don't realize how horrible some people's habits are until you have to clean up after them. We have to be clean, so we all expect the same from tourists as well.

I think we all got what she meant.

Anyhoo, I've gotten spoiled into only liking suites. My fav is Residence Inn, cuz I get my own bedroom with my own bathroom, plus a fridge. Though the last couple have been not as clean or tidy as usual.

I like hotels.

Last fall I had just gotten done driving 13 hours from Minnesota to Oklahoma. I stopped as soon as I got across the border, and the first place I get to, I hear "I'm sorry...but you have to be 21 to get a room...and this rule applies in all of Oklahoma." But before I had enough time to react and **** my pants, she said, "well, I guess you can have a room. You don't look like you'll be having any big parties or anything." So I got my room.

I especially like hotels that have wireless access. :D

Aww drat. :D

I've seen some of the messes people make just by walking by their room if the door is open. And here's me, who doesn't even put clothes in the drawers.

One time some dude left his swim trunks in the bathroom and the maids left them there. That was gross.

I've stayed in a number of motels... my favorite is one up at Hampton Beach we stay at every year. We've known the owners forever, so of course we get special treatment ;) But we always make sure to clean up after ourselves.

Another favorite of mine was La Chiquita Inn down in Arlington, VA. A cute little place.

I *LOVE* staying in hotels. I don't get to do it often so whenever I do, my friends and I always live it up. It's so fun just to chill out, order some pizzas, have things delivered to you  Nothing really bothers me about it. In fact, I'm staying in a nice hotel in NJ for a weekend(Beatlefest on the 8th, 9th, and 10th of April). It's so fun.

There was a Days Inn I had the...erm...priveledge of staying in for a night in Louisville (KY) once. Holy crapcakes, that place was a trainwreck. There were...erm...spots all over the floor. While not in the rooms, the roaches were outside the hotel doors just begging to get in...the tv actually had an alarm that would go off if you tried to disconnect the cable, there was a green blob in the showerhead that pulsated through the opening if you tried to turn on the water....It was disgusting.

Best hotel I've ever had the priveledge of staying in was the Adam's Mark in Denver. Ultra-clean rooms, multiple restaurants inside the hotel, excellent service by the hotel staff itself - a real class establishment.

Motels remind me of Norman Bates. I've stayed in plenty of hotels through the years, but not so much the last few years.

I watched a piece on NBC's "Dateline" once about hotels. They went to all these fancy hotels. I'm talking 4 and 5 star hotels. They had this high-tech piece of equipment that was sort of like night vision goggles. The purpose of it was to, and I'm not trying to be dirty here...the purpose was to detect semen.

Well, semen was everywhere. All over the blankets, comforters, pillows, towels, you name it, even sheets that I guess didn't hit the laundry. Dateline didn't go to fleabag hotels. They only went to the good hotels. It was nasty.

Hello room service? Could you send up a cheeseburger platter, a diet coke, a can of lysol, 100 feet of plastic sheeting and one of those haz-mat suits?

It's sick how much you have to go through for cleaning. I still don't understand the appeal of owning one. My mother does all the laundry and her hands are practically beet red from all the bleach she uses. She uses gloves most of the time, but sometimes there's stains that you just can't get out without scrubing it the old fashioned way.

Me and my boyfriend used to stay at a motel in the beginning of our relationship because there was no where else for us to go to be alone. **wink wink** (we did that for the longest time) until we moved into our own place in the summer of "2001". We are so glad that we don't have to do that anymore however; I told him we should go spend the night one time eventually and have a room with jacuzzi and water bed.

yes, I like them as long as I don't have to stay in the same room with my mother (the worst snorer ever!)

I love to get away and stay someplace else other than home. It's fun to stay at hotels/motels.

I once stayed at this Days Inn in San Antonio, and I found a condom
in our bathroom trash can.I screamed in disguist. My sister was watching
TV and she heard me.She then made a grossed out face. We told
our parents when they returned from bringing some fast food for dinner.
My parents were totally grossed out at the idea!

Generally I love the smell at hotels and all.......... I wonder if there are any motels/hotels still out there that have CRTs :)

When I was young it was fun staying in a hotel/ motel, now I don't like it very much. I don't like to travel too much, maybe a quick jaunt over to Las Vegas I'll stay in hotel . But generally if I go out of town it's visiting family or friends and I stay in their home which I prefer.;)

I just want a room with good Wifi, clean and an air conditioner I control.

I was traveling in China several years ago and reached this town for the night. It was a decent town but there were no hotel rooms. It was summer so it was hot (even at night) and went to about ten different places and even the four star hotel. No rooms for let! I really feared being homeless and sleeping in the street for the night.

I was desperate but about the last place I tried had a vacancy! The room was small and just had a toilet and a shower. But for me, it was the Waldorf Astoria.

I would have to say my favorite hotel chain is Marriott Residence Inn because it feels more like an apartment than a hotel room and when my family stays in them I love it because I get my own private room and my own TV with Youtube so I can do commercial research early in the mornings when I'm on vacations and Residence Inns have great breakfasts of loads of Chobani yogurts and other neat foods. The other motel chain I think is alright is Best Western because they are nice but not as great as Marriott hotels but you still get a lot for your money as long as the room is nice and the bed is comfortable but Best Western has the most comfortable beds and the pillows that they use are like sleeping on clouds. But when you are traveling avoid the America's Best Value Inn chain anywhere and I don't know how or why they are still surviving but America's Best Value Inns are the worst motels in the world because they are simply not worth staying at if you go on vacations

Hawkee

When it comes to hotels and motels I think when you go on vacation you can easily find a good deal on a great hotel and especially a nice one. But I cannot figure out how motel chains like Travelodge Super 8 Knights Inn and Motel 6 survive and stay in business because the way I see these motel chains they are the survivors of motels. But how motel chains such as America's/Canada's Best Value Inn and Red Roof Inn became popular is beyond me? Then you have the big hotel chains and motel chains such as Holiday Inn Hampton Inn La Quinta Inn and Ramada Inn and Marriott hotels like Courtyard Residence Inn Towneplace Suites Springhill Suites and Fairfield Inn as well as Hilton hotels. But for me what has to be the most important part of a hotel for me is the bed and bedding and pillows and I know it might sound strange to you but when it comes to hotel beds and pillows I can be like Goldilocks but when my family stayed at a Best Western motel I loved Best Western's beds and let me tell you when you sleep on a Best Western bed it is the most comfortable bed you'll ever sleep on and the pillows Best Western uses are really amazing and when you lay down on a Best Western pillow it feels really soft like sleeping on a cloud and I was amazed at these beds and thought why don't other hotels have beds like this? But Ramada Inn is cool and you do get a lot for your money and they really care about problems with your room. Mom and I used to stay a lot in hotels during business trips and we would discover amazing things about each one we stayed at
