View Full Version : People over 21 who don't know how to fill out a Job Application
TVFactFan 02-26-2005, 03:10 PM Yesterday at my job, me and several co-workers were applying for other positions in the company because our current positions are being eliminated on June 30th. So it was two co-workers who didn't know how to this question on the Application.
REASON FOR REQUEST
One worker left it BLANK and the other worker put-BECAUSE I"M BEING LAID OFF on JUNE 30TH
LOL-LMAO
MESSAGE TO ALL MEMBERS ON S.O. UNDER 21,-When you are asked why you are interested in a job, never never ever leave it blank or say because I'm being laid off. Please remember that.
GARFIELDKOOL 02-26-2005, 03:34 PM You will be surprised to see how many older people don't know how to fill out an application. This one dude I know, a few years ago, he was applying for a office position, and he was listing some of his work history, and one of the places he listed was an under-the-table job he had picking apples on a farm. I told him don't list that because the people won't know who to call or who to get in touch with. That was just a courtesy job.
Mijada 02-26-2005, 03:54 PM Last summer we were accepting applications where I work and I was helping my supervisor sort through them. We came across one where the applicant wrote a whole bunch of stuff about his former employer, calling her a lying bitch etc. Under the question which asks why he was no longer at his former job, his response was because we have a ****ty economy. This guy was probably about 30 years old and should have known better than to curse and say negative things about his other jobs. Needless to say we didn't hire him but everyone had a good laugh over that application.
Janice 02-26-2005, 04:34 PM So on the part of the application where you fill in your name, address, etc....where it has Sex...I shouldn't write, "as often as possible".

TheGreatPretender 02-26-2005, 11:56 PM At least they are being honest.
dawsongirl 02-27-2005, 12:11 AM  Someone should write, "Because I need a job!" I mean, that is why you fill out applications.
The things I hate are those damn tax things you have to fill out when you get hired. Could that get more confusing? My mom told me just to write zeros, so I did.

 Though I myself have to admit, I wanted to put something similar about my old boss. But I made something up that sounded better for Reason You Left.

Yep, that's what I was told to do too, so you get more money on your tax return. I don't understand that stuff either........
Brian Damage 02-27-2005, 12:06 PM Solomon, I am rooting for you to get the job.
TVFactFan 02-27-2005, 12:40 PM Solomon, I am rooting for you to get the job.
Thanks Brian. The guy who put he was being laid off on the 30th probably didn't understand the question. It asked why where you interested in that position not why you left your previous job-LOL I laughed all day on Friday-I could not believe he put that on a job application.

I think that's what I put when I applied to the store I worked at for 3 years. I mean I was 17 at the time. What other reason would I want to work at a grocery store for?

You were supposed to put why you were that person for that job. Employers are not looking to hire people who NEED MONEY-lol They are looking for people who can do the job.

Who cares? Either way I got the job and I did very well. I quit because I wanted to concentrate more on my education. Besides, when they interview you after receiving your application, then they ask those questions. This includes the "Why should I hire you?" question. When they ask, you lie. Pretty easy.

Also the thread says People Over 21 who don't know how to fill out a Job Application. Like I said in another post, I was 17 at the time. It was my first and only job interview I had gone on.

"Because I want the employee discount." That would be good too.
Or, "I really like the uniforms."

LMAO. It's sad but we didn't get any employee discounts.

TheHappyBurgerMeister 03-01-2005, 07:33 PM To be honest with you I've filled out many applications before and I've never seen "REASON FOR REQUEST" on any of them!
Dude111 07-26-2025, 03:59 PM You will be surprised to see how many older people don't know how to fill out an application.Yes really....... A friend of mine got a job for a post office and he put NO for "Have you ever nee convivted of a crime"
