View Full Version : People might be surprised to know that...
Janice 02-25-2005, 05:43 PM What do you think members at SO would be surprised or interested to know about you?
For me, I guess that I'm a softie at heart. I come across as authoritative on the boards, but that's just my moderator persona.
I can't whistle to save my life. Tried when I was a kid, and could never get the hang of it.
I love animals almost to the point of obsession.
I hate O.J. Simpson with a passion.
I'm a great cook but a lousy dancer. Think Elaine on Seinfeld, lol. Not really that bad, but close.
I'm mourning the loss of both my parents and sister. I lost them in the last three years.
My cat is 16 and he's not well. He's fading away, and I'm sad about it.
I have four adult stepchildren and eight stepgrandchildren (ages 10 and under). I spoil them.
My husband is turning 65 this June, but looks 50. Still, I worry about him. He's 18 years older than me.
I'm a funny person. I make my friends laugh.
I have to really watch my weight or I'll get fat. Seven years ago, I gained 25 pounds, but took it off.
I'm shy around strangers.
I was a Democrat until 2001. Voted for Clinton, Gore.
I stopped drinking 19 years ago, in my 20s. I wasn't out of control, just liked to party too much, but I knew it would only cause problems in my life. I quit smoking then too.
I've been married for almost 20 years, but in 1991, my husband and I separated. We were off and on for two years. It was my fault.
We're very happy today.
Your turn...
Brian 02-25-2005, 05:47 PM Any member who doesn't know me real well would probably be surprised to know that I am Autistic. Even people in real life don't know that unless I tell them because I am so high-functioning.
On the computer I am very good at having conversations with people. Off the computer it is a different story: I am the opposite with people I see face-to-face.
Lady T 02-25-2005, 05:52 PM I think people would be amazed that I am actually a very private person.
Also that I am quiet..
Gave up a 19 year old cigarette habit and it has been almost 8 full months without a smoke.
That I am in my 30s and but I act like a teen-ager here at SO
That I am an excellent dancer
Helped raise my bestfriend's daughter
That I help take care of my mom who suffered a stroke a couple of years ago
I run five miles a day
I do not consume sweets or any sugar..I gave up sodas a couple of months ago.
I have my own business
Once worked as a model
Was asked to pose for Playboy...but said No.
Used to have an eating disorder
Was terribly shy as a child
I am actually a Republican...but a very liberal one...
Totally interested in the Stock Market
Mijada 02-25-2005, 06:18 PM Well I'm not sure what people here think about me to begin with so I don't know what things about me would surprise them.
The only interesting thing going on in my life right now is that I'm finally getting married this fall. I'll be 33 and I'm really looking forward to living with someone and raising children. I was beginning to think I would never get married because I was so used to being by myself until Tom came along.

Brian Damage 02-26-2005, 12:01 AM Ok My Turn...
I was a Rave kid who use to go to clubs Thursday through Saturday.
I was a drug user...mainly Acid, Ecstacy and Special K
I was engaged once to another woman before I married my wife.
That other fiancee got pregnant and she had an abortion behind my back.
I served in the first Persian Gulf War in the US Navy
I was friends with Justin Volpe (The infamous cop who used a plunger to sodomize a detainee)
I went to Four different high schools in four years (I was a troubled teen)
My wife used to be my best friend's girlfriend.
I was this close to becoming a cop until I failed a psychological test.
I was diagnosed with ADD and Bi Polar (Due to an overmedication of Fenabarbytal when I was a child....I use to suffer from seizures)
My first born daughter was born out of wedlock. She was born in 1998 and we didn't marry till 2000.
I am now a Born Again Christian
My "friends" asked to borrow my car and proceeded to use it to rob a post office. It turned out to be the largest Post office robbery in New York history. They were caught and served five years in prison.
I was a morning radio sidekick called "Brian the Biggot" (I'm not really) on a show called the Sports Guys on WNEW in New York.
My cousin Laura died on 9/11 in the WTC.
My wife is a Castellano.....Yeah those Castellanos (But all the connected ones are all dead....All that are left are doctors :p )
I now work for Westwood One
Janice 02-26-2005, 12:08 AM Ok My Turn...
Okay folks, we have our Grand Prize Winner.
Wow, Brian, I knew only four or five things that you listed. You've lived quite an interesting life. Thanks for sharing.
Brian Damage 02-26-2005, 12:26 AM Lol I have a few others, but I held back because it might sound like I'm making it all up. I've lived an interesting life so far.
TheHappyBurgerMeister 02-26-2005, 12:46 AM I really have no social life at all. Or a very small one.
I still haven't had my first kiss (I'm 21)
I'm a Christian but I rarely ever attend church
I can't sleep at night unless I have a fan running for noise
I am a very shy person when I'm around a lot of people. Even back in middle school (the hell years for me) I was basically mute at school. Actually it was mainly just 7th grade.
My favorite band Hanson "rescued" me from those hell years. Or their music did.
If I get to know someone very well, I can also talk A LOT!
I seem to worry way too much and I also have anxiety which I was on medication for that for 4 years (not currently)
I still don't have a drivers license
I had horrible attendance when I was in high school and middle school (a lot to do with my anxiety).
I actually did graduate from high school (regardless of my attendance) and it was one of the best days of my life.
I only went to school full time for one semester since graduating high school and I didn't like it! Other than that one semester, i've just been going part time (plus working).
When I was 9 years old I got bucked off a horse in SD. Thank god the only injury I got was a big bruise on my thigh (and we got our money back from the ranch!)
I never show any emotion. At least never any "negative" emotions. I would never cry in front of people and even when I was a little girl and scraped my knee I'd hold in my tears.
I've lived in the same city my entire life (so far). I'd like to move out of here someday.
I daydream A LOT!

dawsongirl 02-26-2005, 02:47 AM Well, lemme try I guess.
Growing up, I had more Matchbox and Hot Wheels cars than I did dolls.
I'd love to be a novelist, but I have zero ambition and I generally keep rewriting everything I write 16 thousand times.
I'm a nostalgia freak and spend too much time living in the past.
I can't start a conversation to save my life, unless it's with people I've known forever.
I have panic attacks if I think I'm getting sick.
I've only been on one formal date and have had zero boyfriends, and I'm 25 years old. Though I have been told on several occasions that I'm pretty. So I guess I have a lousy personality.
I don't look my age. I don't even feel my age.
I'm really loyal to friends, but they don't seem to be loyal back (most, not all)
I love being alone, but I hate being lonely.
I don't like any part of organized religion and think people can be just as close to God without going to church.
I almost got to go to State with Individual Speech- Radio Broadcast. Almost. But I did get a trophy.
I lettered in Drama, Speech, Academics, and Choir (and I can't even sing!)
Abnormal Fears: Cats, Going into a Bank or Convenience Store and it getting robbed while I'm there, Drive-By Shootings, having the bridge of my nose sliced by a knife.
dawsongirl 02-26-2005, 02:51 AM I get more scared calling a girl on the phone than I did going in for surgery.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure I'd have a full out panic attack if I had to call a guy. :o
Lady T 02-26-2005, 02:54 AM Yeah, I'm pretty sure I'd have a full out panic attack if I had to call a guy. :o
Calling someone whom you find attractive is very scary...I am 35 years old and I break into a cold sweat every time I call someone whom I like
dawsongirl 02-26-2005, 02:55 AM Calling someone whom you find attractive is very scary...I am 35 years old and I break into a cold sweat every time I call someone whom I like
At least I'm not alone. :)
Lady T 02-26-2005, 02:56 AM At least I'm not alone. :)
No, I do not think I will or a lot of people would grow out of that fear...
I think most humans are ruled by two things...a fear of rejection and a fear of jeopardizing our pride... :)
AllIWantIsYourClutch 02-26-2005, 02:57 AM I used to play the piano, the clarinet, soccer, and do dance...but I quit them all.
I don't dance. Ever. Ever.
I never cry at movies.
I go to my church every Sunday, but I don't go to church service.
I go on a mission trip with my church every summer.
I've never had a sip of alcohol in my life. I've also never smoked or done drugs and don't plan on it any time soon...aka: never.
I've never had a boyfriend.
I'm very self-concious.
I can't take compliments.
I'm really quiet around people I don't know.
I get intimidated easily.
My mom had a heart attack at the beginning of the year and had five bypasses. She's also had a hysterectomy, thyroid cancer, and tons of seizures for no apparent reason.
I live with my parents and my grandma, who I like to call Satan.
I'm an only child.
I'm a doormat. People walk all over me and I take it. And it sucks.
I quit choir before coming into high school and I regret it a lot. But singing in a choir is extremely intimidating. I sing differently when I'm alone than when I'm around other people.
I talk to myself a lot.
dawsongirl 02-26-2005, 02:57 AM -I strive for perfection even though I know it can never be achieved.
So do I. I beat myself up over tiny mistakes I make, especially at work.
Dutabi84 02-26-2005, 03:00 AM Yeah, I'm pretty sure I'd have a full out panic attack if I had to call a guy. :o

Ha, yeah. I literally paced around outside for half an hour one time, before I could dial the number. I've managed to cut that down to about 28.5 minutes now though.

Me either, and I'm 25.

 I know it is a sucky feeling..To this day when I am calling someone to whom I am dating or find attractive..I still feel like a complete dork when I am having a conversation with them over the phone...or worse..face to face..I know here at SO, I am all laughs and outspoken, but at first initial meeting with someone face to face..I am just the opposite..very quiet and aloof..A lot of people when they first meet me..think I am a snooty bitch..but I am just the opposite...
dawsongirl 02-26-2005, 03:07 AM No, I do not think I will or a lot of people would grow out of that fear...
I think most humans are ruled by two things...a fear of rejection and a fear of jeopardizing our pride... :)
I think you're right.
Lady T 02-26-2005, 03:09 AM I think you're right.
Regardless what anybody says..deep down inside..we all want to be accepted, loved and respected...every human has a trace of insecurity inside of them...
dawsongirl 02-26-2005, 03:10 AM Ha, yeah. I literally paced around outside for half an hour one time, before I could dial the number. I've managed to cut that down to about 28.5 minutes now though.
Mine would be, oh, a day or two probably. I'm hopeless.

Oh yeah, I hear that. I worry too much about what to say, and then I'll just end up saying something moronic..I don't get it. Talking isn't a problem of mine, unless it's in these situations! LOL! Yeah, it's too bad about the whole first impression thing. Some people are totally different persons when you get to know 'em.
Dutabi84 02-26-2005, 03:17 AM Mine would be, oh, a day or two probably. I'm hopeless.
Yeah, it's like I'm gonna need my future dates set up for me, so it isn't so hard. Haha.

That is so true. I mean I made the mistake of thinking of someone as being an ass at first, then this same individual turned out to be a very cool person.
dawsongirl 02-26-2005, 03:20 AM Yeah, it's like I'm gonna need my future dates set up for me, so it isn't so hard. Haha.
Me too. There's gotta be a service that does things like that...if not, I'll start one. Calling other people's dates can't be nearly as hard as my own.
Nighthawk76 02-26-2005, 04:59 AM I want to be a writer, but I've never been satisfied with anything that I have written. Though many people, including teachers, have said through out my life that I am talented.
I tend to keep a distance between myself and other people emotionally, even my closest friends.
During junior high and freshman year of high school I suffered from depression.
I suffer from anxiety and have to take three medications for it.
I am really uncomfortable in crowds.
I take things really personally and want people to like me.
Though I cannot read music, I have a good ear for it. I play guitar and piano and can also play drums. I played bass drum in junior high and high school in the school band.
I am an extreamly fast reader. I can sometimes finish a 300 page novel in a single night.
*InThisMoment* 02-26-2005, 05:38 AM I screwed a monkey.
Ok - this was a dare by Jackie and now she feels bad and insists I edit this. :grr: K. The end. :)
PZelda 02-26-2005, 09:39 AM I am an extreamly fast reader. I can sometimes finish a 300 page novel in a single night.
I've been known to do that myself.
I just remembered something. I was already reading books targeted towards high school kids by the time I was in third grade. When my reading level was tested in seventh grade, I found out my reading level was WAY past high school level. I could read really well at a college level. :)
Nowadays, I'm too busy to set time aside for reading, but if I do... I can read about 150-200 pages in one sitting.
Kay Scarpetta 02-26-2005, 10:18 AM Ok My Turn...
That's really interesting, Brian. Especially the part of how your friends robbed the Post Office with your car. Jeesh. You didn't get in any trouble because it was your vehicle, I'm assuming?
Penny Lane 02-26-2005, 10:28 AM I have a bad temper
I hate confrontation
I am really quite shy
I have some health problems but I really don't want to discuss it.
I hate hot weather
I am in menopause
Like Janice, I can't whistle
I am claustrophobic
I am afraid of spiders
I love playing Nintendo and Nancy Drew Mysteries PC games
That's all I can think of right now. I think most of you know quite a bit about me by now!
*Pleasant Tomorrow* 02-26-2005, 01:06 PM I'm actually really good at heart, and love all living things, I'm just really sarcastic with my joking and I hurt people's feelings without meaning to
I'm very very very deathly shy. I've never been outgoing for fear of people hating me for who I am. I'm only insane here because I can run away from you people if I had to, and I don't have to see you face to face.
I was really good at piano when I was little, but I quit because my dad forced it on me too much...I'm starting again this month
I feel bad for terrorists and mean people, I don't hate them
I'm a very deep thinker and believe anything is possible
I'm a writer and a comedianne...er...as much as you can be for living in Rome, NY at 15, and my biggest dream is to be the next Gilda Radner/Tina Fey on SNL
I like bugs, but I still have that human nature of being shaky around them
One of my biggest fears is people, and I constantly try to please them while trying to stop that habit at the same time (if that makes any sense)
If I ever become rich and famous, I plan on giving a good portion of my money to good causes...who the hell needs 10 cars? That's rediculous.
I thought I was gay when I was 12 because I thought girls were pretty...lol...kids are stupid
I don't take a shower everyday
I hate teenagers I...I hate them. I hate them.
I honestly think animals are better than people
I don't REALLY hate teen pop stars, they just annoy me
I'm actually a 52 year old male nurse from Idaho
I actually made that last line up

Chelsea 02-26-2005, 02:53 PM Well, let's see:
-Contrary to any impression you might have gotten on the boards, interesting things (both good and bad) DO happen to me...I just prefer to keep private stuff private, and my own stuff off the boards
-Even though I've given off the feeling of indifference for more years than I'd care to remember, I actually do care about quite a bit of things
-I've actually watched the entire complete series of Full House on Nick at Nite start to finish. Still don't care for the show, but there's nothing else on at 5 AM on my university's cable lineup that I don't loathe.
- Most of the people my own age I meet in my daily life I'd like to just smack...just to see if I could get any activity going on up top for once. I really, REALLY, don't care for the majority of my generation (Oh, wait, it's things that people might NOT know, lol)
-Despite me claiming to be anti-seafood, it's actually just shellfish I hate. Normal fish I actually like, when cooked in the right manner.
-I was reading college textbooks in first grade. I now read first grade-level books in college (can you say Burnout by 5th grade...and then TSHTF)
-In high school, despite my size at the time (I've since lost around 40-50 pounds), I could still outrun half the atheletes in the school, including a lot of the track team.
-I'm a Billy Joel fan.
-I've got a fear of dying (not a fear of death, but a fear of dying...I'm afraid of the act itself).
-I've been to more funerals/memorial services in the last year (two) than I have in the last seventeen before that (one). And both this year were for people I graduated with [LAST YEAR]
-Fire scares the holy piss outta me. Seriously, I'm so pyrophobic that I can't even stand to be in the same room as a burning candle.
-I've never had a girlfriend. I simply just do not have the right personality to attract women. At all. I'm too much of an isolationist loner (plus I use words like isolationist loner in regular conversation).
-I don't drive.
-I was kicked out of a restaurant by a sitting United States Senator AND MLB Hall of Famer (Jim Bunning, R-KY). I really shouldn't say anymore than that.
Until the late 90s, I liked Country Music [Now, I'd like to launch both the country and rap industries into the proverbial cannon and *BAM*]
There's probably some better things I've repressed, but...
Mr. Stefani 02-26-2005, 03:05 PM -I have a messed up relationship with this one girl and its been on going for months now
-I grew up in an abusive home
-I don't have a realtionship with my real father
-I'm afraid of change
-I quit smoking weed
-I've experimented with other drugs but stopped that
-my grandfather recently passed
-i recently cut ties with someone i was friends with for 8 years
-i've learned that most of the people i thought i knew are backstabbing pieces of shat
that is all for now
AllIWantIsYourClutch 02-26-2005, 03:09 PM -i've learned that most of the people i thought i knew are backstabbing pieces of shat
I feel ya, brother.
Dean Winchester 02-26-2005, 04:29 PM ok, you asked for it...
I have dealt with Irritible Bowel Syndrome for the past 3 years
I am self-diagnosed manic-depressive, comes and goes
The only person I truly am in love with lives in PA and I am going to visit him in June and he visit me in August, and hopefully move down here sometime afterwards
I am an admitted downloader... I wasted so much money on cd's throughout the years that now I prefer to be the one saving money.
I will never get along with my older brother, and dealing with him when my mom died proved that we're never going to like each other.
I got expelled from school for "sexual harassment" when I was 12, little did the school or I realize at the time that I didn't like girls. I was brainwashed by Wayne's World.
I am Catholic (parents named me after the pope, middle name is Paul) yet still haven't been Confirmed at 25.
Parents and everyone called me John Paul as a kid and I even went as that through grade school, but once I got in high school, I decided to cut the Paul out and just go as "John"
Politically, I don't know what the hell I am. I can never be a Republican because of the gay issue, and I also disagree with the Democrats too much to be a Dem either, so I am just myself.
I survived an attempted rape at 21.
I've only smoked pot once, when I was 16, took one puff. I've only tried smoking about 3 times and knew it was not for me.
When I was a teenager, I stole a lot of money from my parents, all of which I have paid back. I was a real mess when I was 15-16, if anything, coming out of the closet was the best thing that happened to me because I stopped misbehaving so much.
It's been almost a year since my mom died but a day still doesn't go by where I don't think how much I miss her and would give to have her back for one day. She fell ill when I was 15-16, so as I got older, she got more disabled, so part of me is angry for how I feel she was robbed from me.
the longest relationship I've had to date has been long distance with a guy named Eric who lives in PA, we've been talking on the phone and the sort for 8 months (we've known each other for 2 years) and I cannot wait to meet in person because part of me has the gut feeling he is the one.
I have a cd-book in my car of strictly cd-r's (the car cd player seems to scratch discs so much), and I have some music in there that is deemed embarassing to the point I'd never tell anyone.
I have a scar on one of my fingers on my right hand because as a child, I used to bite that area whenever I was angry, I'd take my anger out on the finger. I hate it, but also I know that if I ever turn up missing, the finger would be the way to identify me, lol.
I have an allergic reaction to cats to where I cannot be around them.
I have a mild form of claustrophobia.
Nighthawk76 02-26-2005, 04:34 PM John, it seems that you have really turned your life around from where you were at as a teenager. I am very happy to hear that and wish you all the best.
PZelda 02-26-2005, 06:03 PM - There seems to be a lot more new people here now. The rest of the people who have been here a year or longer know by now that I am hearing impaired. I used to wear hearing aids, but my hearing loss is so severe in both ears that they didn't do a thing for me. Thus, as soon as I started freshman year in HS (the 1st year I was NOT required to wear them in school), I stopped wearing my hearing aids. That was five and a half years ago. I haven't gone back to wearing them. I rely on sign language as a mode of communication. If I meet somebody that doesn't know sign language, I make sure to always have a notebook and pens handy.
- My family was on an episode of "Trading Spaces: Family" that aired earlier this season. My family got teamed up with Hildi Santo-Tomas and their neighbors was teamed up with Christi Proctor.
- I've been to Washington DC. I've been all over DC and had a chance to go inside the Capitol Building - it's really beautiful in person.
- I'm the youngest of three in biological order in my family. With my two stepsisters added to the mix, I'm fourth of five.
- I am a major video gamer chick. :D
Janice 02-26-2005, 06:22 PM I'm cancer phobic. Anything and everything is a symptom of cancer with me.
I'm obsessive about personal hygiene. I shower at least once a day, but usually twice in the warmer weather. I brush my teeth about 4 to 5 times daily.
I'm turned off by people who have poor hygiene.
I am my husband's third wife. First wife, 10 years. Second wife, 12 years, and we're in our 22nd year together.
I love Barry Manilow's music much more than I admit.
I had a falling out with a friend three years ago, and I miss her terribly.
x3 Taylor x3 02-26-2005, 06:40 PM I am actually a robot.
Janice 02-26-2005, 06:47 PM I feel bad for terrorists and mean people, I don't hate them
You feel bad for the terrorists who attacked on 9/11?
Dean Winchester 02-26-2005, 06:50 PM You feel bad for the terrorists who attacked on 9/11?
I took it as her saying she felt sorry for the fact that they were such brainwashed, sad individuals that they did such a thing.
Kay Scarpetta 02-26-2005, 06:56 PM I took it as her saying she felt sorry for the fact that they were such brainwashed, sad individuals that they did such a thing.
Yeah, that's the way I translated it as.
*Pleasant Tomorrow* 02-26-2005, 07:04 PM I took it as her saying she felt sorry for the fact that they were such brainwashed, sad individuals that they did such a thing.
Correct. People usually don't understand what I'm saying, and I'm glad you two did.
Brian 02-26-2005, 07:51 PM Here's some more.
In 7th grade I was so angry at a teacher that I sent him a nasty, profanity-laced e-mail to him. I was suspended for two days and forced to transfer to another class. I was eventually transferred to another school.
I am a huge germophobe. I wash my hands a lot and avoid touching my eyes, nose, and mouth at all costs.
Janet McFarland 02-26-2005, 07:51 PM I hate my nose. When I'm older I would really like to get a nose job.
I'm very proud to be Italian.
I love where I live. Yeah Jersey isn't the greatest, but I just love to be near NYC. I love it there.
I hate my friends who have boyfriends and they say that they're going to be together forever. Please.
I wish I had more guy friends.
I'm very grateful for the friends I have made on the internet, because sometimes, I feel like I've known them forever.
I'm afraid of bugs. And if I'm outside, and a bug is on me, I get really afraid and start to scream.
When I get older, I'd like to sing or act professionally. I love to sing.
I love to travel. Even if I'm going to the post office or the store. I just love it.
I may say crap about my family, but I love them. I don't know what I would do without them.
I miss my grandma's cooking.
I have never been to a real concert in my life. Unless you count those little school concerts.
Brian Damage 02-26-2005, 08:09 PM That's really interesting, Brian. Especially the part of how your friends robbed the Post Office with your car. Jeesh. You didn't get in any trouble because it was your vehicle, I'm assuming?
No, they knew who the real culprits were that were involved in the actual robbery. The Postal Police still came to my house and interrigated me. It was very unsettling to say the least.
*Pleasant Tomorrow* 02-26-2005, 08:15 PM I guess I can add I suffer from depression...but you all know that, I don't hide that on here. People in real life would be very suprised, though. dawsongirl 02-26-2005, 11:57 PM I'm cancer phobic. Anything and everything is a symptom of cancer with me.
I know this phobia has a name, but I am scared to the point of handicap of getting sick. Well, lemme rephrase that. Having some sort of illness that affects my digestive system. Add to that, I'm a hypochondric about the whole thing. To me, there is nothing scarier in this world than the stomach flu. It caused me to have a panic attack at work Thursday. I hid it well from everyone.
dawsongirl 02-26-2005, 11:59 PM I'm very grateful for the friends I have made on the internet, because sometimes, I feel like I've known them forever.

Same here. I have told a few people that I've been depressed on and off for the last few years, and they've been surprised by it. I rarely talk to any of my peers about anything remotely personal in my life, so that's probably why it's suprising...
*Pleasant Tomorrow* 02-27-2005, 12:43 AM I hate O.J. Simpson with a passion.

Brent88 02-27-2005, 01:15 AM Okay... here's some before we go to sleep, I won't be able to rest without spilling the beans.
1. I am very quiet and shy around everyone but my family. It's shocking because I post on messageboards all the time.
2. I have never dated a girl and I currently have no desire too(and I'm not gay).
3. I am obsessed with things running exactly on time... I hate when things run late. My watch is set to the atomic clock(sad isn't it?)
4. I have never broken a bone, although I almost broke my wrist when I went to Gatlinburg back in January(they actually thought I did for about 48 hours and I had to wear a sling, turns out it was just a bad sprain).
5. I get bored very easily, I believe that is part of the reason I am now homeschooled, my grades slipped during middle school and the early part of high school. I am a genius on certain subjects though.
I think that's about it...

Fleet 02-27-2005, 02:08 AM Okay, let's see...
I am afraid of a weed called "Sowthistle." I can't go near them (not to mention touch one).
My cholesterol is only 168. (Under 200 is considered "good.").
I have never drank coffee.
I have never smoked.
I have never drank alcohol.
I can't swim.
I also can't sleep in a completely quiet room- I have the clock radio on very low and sometimes a fan.
I have slept with earplugs ever since the '94 Northridge earthquake (earthquakes are loud).
The farthest I've traveled is to Las Vegas. Only have been to one other state (Nevada).
No broken bones.
I have 12 crowns on my teeth.
I had one unexplained ghostly experience... I woke up one night (I know I was awake because I checked the time- 11:40 PM- and I turned the radio on again in order to sleep) and rolled over in bed. About 10 seconds after doing that I felt the mattress on the left side of the bed depress (as if someone sat down on the edge). Of course no one was there when I looked.
I like reading those "Alfred Hitchcock and the Three Investigators" series mystery books and have about 20 of them (see photo for the first one from 1964). Anyone heard of "Jupiter Jones?"
I have trouble scanning photos straight.
That's all for now.

dandelion wine 02-27-2005, 02:51 AM Here are a few things:
I've never had a cavity.
Just about everyone who knew me in school would be shocked to learn that I can, in fact, be serious. That I'm not "always silly."
I have a serious shark phobia. It's pretty much impossible to watch Jaws without having both feet tucked under me.
Since elementary school, I've slept with the tv on. It's very hard to fall asleep without it, although I'm trying to curb that habit.
There's a city here in my homestate of Texas that was named after one of my ancestors (on my dad's side).
I've been an insomniac for the last 25 years or so, off and on.
I can play the violin.
I'm double jointed.
I'm a shy person and actually pretty quiet, which more than a few people find hard to believe because once you get to know me I can talk your ear off.. plus I'm very silly.
Krisalicious 02-27-2005, 02:54 AM I love where I live. Yeah Jersey isn't the greatest, but I just love to be near NYC. I love it there.

Ambear 02-27-2005, 01:37 PM Ok, let me see...
-Just about everybody has heard of my last name, but only one person here knows it
-I am exteremly shy
-I love animals, especially dolphins
-I don't have any sisters, only three older brothers
-A lot of people say I look like I'm about 16 when I'm only 12 (for a few more days anyway...) because I'm kind of tall for my age
-Most of the people I grew up around are boys
-I HATE dresses
-When I was 8 years old, I had to go to court because I was a witness to a fight

-I go to Florida almost every year for summer vacation
-I live near a theme park and a water park

I think that's it :)

About 10 seconds after doing that I felt the mattress on the left side of the bed depress (as if someone sat down on the edge). Of course no one was there when I looked.
The same thing happened to me, Fleet!!

Yes, you got it! Pete Crenshaw and Bob Andrews.
They were well-written mysteries- especially the early ones written by Robert Arthur.

Welcome? WELCOME?!?! Don't tortue the poor kid, tell it to her like it is.

Shush, Ashlee... ;) Being a teen has its ups and downs. You're entering the teen world as I'm leaving it - right now, I'm 19 but I'll be 20 in 5.5 months (August). It just depends on what you make of it. It wasn't so bad for me, because I knew being a teen would be a bumpy ride, so I was prepared for it. :D

Really? Did you see a ghostly image?
I didn't- whoever was there chose no to materialize unfortunately.
BTW, I think it may have been a victim of the Titanic (1912) disaster. Because I had been reading books about that (even that same night) and I woke up/felt the presence at 11:40 PM (which was the time the Titanic hit the iceberg).

I don't think it's going to be so bad for me either. I got a lot of good friends, and only one enemy ;) . Besides, I don't follow crowds or anything else like that anyway. I just hope my parents can put up with me for at least another 6 years!

swedeace 03-04-2005, 01:19 AM Interesting reading everyone's lists!
I don't post around as often as I'd like, but I do read quite a few threads. I am getting to know some people around here, but not in a personal interaction sense. More like in the types of posts sense. ;)
Here's my list:
-I enjoy watching pre-teen/teen shows even if I am an adult!
-I have more online friends than offline
-I wish I had more male friends
-I hate answering and socializing on the phone - I have to be really motivated in order to actually do it. My sister does not understand this about me and just mocks me!
-I do not have a fear of flying like I thought. My own self proved it by being able to fly across the Atlantic ocean for 9-10 hours! It was actually quite relaxing!!
-I feel like I have so many psychological problems wrong with me (social anxiety, depression, etc).
-I get friend-obsessed (meaning, there have been a couple of people coming into my life where I really "want" their friendship and cannot let them go! Not with everyone - don't get me wrong! Only with certain individuals, it seems)
-I can spend hours at a time at home online (chatting, surfing, reading, etc).

Aww, thanks Brian. I think that it was a joke on my name (in the link TVFANLAND provided). That's the name in my e:mail, JaniceMonte. It's not my full last name though.
It is a coincidence though. The Janice Monte in the story is from Massachusetts too.
:)

Next time it happens, try taking a picture... maybe something will show up!
Yes, I've read quite a few books on past lives (and the afterlife). Real interesting. I was probably alive sometime in the old west because I like westerns.
