Will Frasier ever exceed the popularity of Cheers, what do you think?

I think Frasier just might have already exceeded Cheers.

Cheers I think got alot more attention then Frasier in getting now. Cheers was a show with a group of funny and sweet character, who are all different, but they always end up at the cozy little pub. But with Frasier, the characters are all the same, equally annoying and obnoxious. Maybe they should have had Bebe Neuwirth star in Fraiser instead of the 6 or 7 guest appearences that she got.

It would be great if Bebe Neuwirth stared in the show.

It was Bebe's choice not to, or I'm sure she would have starred in it right from the very beginning. She's better off on the stage, making guest appearance here and there on TV! Much better for us theatre freaks. :happyface

Actually, I don't think it was written for her to star in the show anyways because she and Frasier got divorced, and him moving to Seattle was him getting away from her as well as Boston and all that.

I'm also one of those people who don't much care for her either, so I'm rather glad she isn't in it.

Having only seen her in "Chicago", I don't think I can say anything about her theatre career, even though a friend of mine has worked with her once.

I know she wanted to focus on a film career or whatever, which is why Lilith and Frasier ended up getting divorced. She requested to be written off. If she hadn't, I'm sure Lilith would have been a part of the show... although, I believe I read somewhere that Kelsey Grammer didn't want Lilith around... he wanted to start fresh with the series and Lilith was of the past... ya know? I think Frasier would have benefited a lot from having Bebe on it... but what do I know. I loved Frasier and Lilith together!

I saw her in Chicago too, and she was great! I haven't seen her in anything else on stage... where did your friend work with her?

I seriously don't think that Frasier will ever surpass Cheers in popularity. Cheers was the original and in my opinion Cheers is far better than Fraiser has been or will ever be.

San Francisco ACT about 2 years ago, when she did Threepenny Opera. My friend and I haven't spoken recently though, and as far as I know she isn't in SF anymore, she's out here in NYC...my friend Lisa, not Bebe.

As for your idea that Lilith and Frasier were great together, let's just say it's more than obvious I don't share your opinion. But to each his/her own :D

Lilith and Frasier were great together I think. Frasier suceeded because if you have Niles Frasier and Lilith you probably would have trouble understanding have the sitcom.

In cheers they would say all these big words, that i never understood. If you had lilith there too it would be really scary.:D But I still think they were meant to be together. Its like Sam and Diane there perfect for each other but they will eventually marry someone else because.... well just because:confused:

Frasier has two distinctions:
- It is one of the finest sitcoms on Television.
- It is probably the best example of a spinoff equalling (and possibly surpassing) the quality of the show it was spun off from.

Frasier has been around so long and achieved so much success, i don't think it deserves to be classified as a spin-off.

I agree it is out of cheers shadow. It has achieved the same quality as cheers....Well personally I still like Cheers better but anyways......It is still a really good show.

Cheers is the more popular show, plain and simple.
But in terms of writing and awards.... I think Frasier gets the edge.

I agree on all points.

When Cheers ended it was much more popular and a bigger deal was made of it.
