View Full Version : discussion: Starting Over
davezen2 01-30-2005, 10:02 PM I hate it when they leave you hanging like that! JJ and the cops, Meg and Sam, I cannot wait 'till March!
And for all those worried about cancellation: What are you doing to improve ratings?! All of us who love this show need to be involved doing whatever we can!
I've borrowed my season 1 DVDs to my parents and 4 different people I work with. The result: 6 people who whenever I see them first thing monday morning say to me: Oh my God, did you watch American Dreams last night? I love this show!"
I've always thought that the sign of a show/movie that I love is when I find myself wishing/dreaming about being a part of the characters lives, and American Dreams has done the best job of that hands down.
Laters, ~dave
FutureMrsWillEstes 01-30-2005, 10:14 PM OMG I know! I was so excited to see previews for next week, and then I hear the dreaded word "...coming back in March"! Ugh. Well I guess we just hafta wait...
sam_is_cool 01-30-2005, 10:17 PM Hi all, long time lurker here....
I agree I love this show SO much, I'm gonna do whatever I can to help improve the ratings!
What do you think Jack will do when he finds out about JJ?
FutureMrsWillEstes 01-30-2005, 10:21 PM He'll bust a cap in someone's @$$, that's what he'll do!
J/K, I dunno...I bet he'll take it up with the councel or somethin

LOL
I think that after talking to Helen he'll try and expose the bribe that the council took, putting aside whatever punishment may come his way.
sam_is_cool 01-30-2005, 10:45 PM LOL

No way man! I think Pete will take it out on those cops.
Why didn't JJ defend himself? I mean come on! He's a Marine!
Stephanie03 01-30-2005, 11:54 PM In my opinion, this was one of the best episodes of the season, besides of course, JJ coming home & the wedding. I loved it, and I'm very excited about the prospect of Meg & Sam getting together-- I think they could get a lot of good storylines from that, between their families reactions and others. I've been calling a Meg & Sam relationship since the first time he was on the show! Can't wait til March :)
R.I.P.PSO 01-31-2005, 01:10 AM Hmmm I havent seen AMerican dreams since... JJ came back home that one day...& now I caught the last 10mins of of the show 2night and saw JJ and his sis fighting and meg and sam dance and JJ gettin beat up by the cops... I seriously thought they canceled the show so i stopeed watchin it... hmm did I miss any important events ?

Laters, ~dave I have no fear what so ever about Ad being cancelled I still keep up my positve attitude for AD because it shows I still have my high spirits about Ad. :) ;)
Trish Marie 01-31-2005, 03:56 AM Man, that ending was a roller coaster... JJ being beat up interspersed with Sam and Meg dancing... American Dreams always seems to get the old emotions dancing...
Perhaps JJ didn't fight back because they were law enforcement officers. I dunno....
When Luke saw "Father John" (I *think* that was the name they used) emptying the garbage at the prom I thought I was going to fall out of my chair. I was ROLLING. The look on his face was priceless. Can you say c-u-t-e???
Dang he is a good sport.
I love American Dreams.
Trish
Trish Marie 01-31-2005, 04:01 AM Oh, and Helen and Patty off to see The Singing Nun.... Sometimes moms just really know what to do...
And did we really think that Beth would find out so soon? I am glad to see that her and JJ kinda worked it out. Naw, I am real glad that they worked it out.
Oh yeah, and I love Jack Pryor senior.
Trish
Stephanie03 01-31-2005, 01:30 PM By the way, does anyone else think that Luke looks pretty handsome with the long hair but no beard? :)
ADfan 01-31-2005, 03:49 PM I'm new to this board but I love AD and have been watching it regularly since the pillot. I'm not 100% for sure on this info. but I read that the next episode is called California dreamin. Which leaves me to think that Meg iisn't quite over Chris yet, which she pretty much confirmed when she was yelling at JJ, so I don't think at this time the Meg/Sam situation is going to go very far, but I could be wrong, Any thoughts?
I really wish that they would stop have Meg continuing to ask about Chris. Get over it. He left. I always thought that there was "someting" (chemistry ?) to the Meg and Sam relationship. I've been waiting for Sam to dump that rich spoliled brat of a girlfriend (that happened last week so I was thinking there might be something in this weeks episode)

stepperry 01-31-2005, 06:31 PM Wasn't on one the cops holing him back? All he could have done was kick the cop(s).

Storywriter 01-31-2005, 06:38 PM he looked really different without the beard but cute.MelBy the way, does anyone else think that Luke looks pretty handsome with the long hair but no beard? :)
willsmyman26 01-31-2005, 07:21 PM if he were to fight back the cops could've put him on trial...i thought the same thing because i was like dude ur a marine..u could beat the crap out of them. but then i realized he could be charged.
Leigh Ann 01-31-2005, 07:23 PM I liked the episode, the only thing I didn't like, of course, was those police officers beating up JJ and ruining his car. But, at least, he told Beth he lost the money instead of her finding out from someone else. And, I just have to say, yay for Mrs. Pierce for telling Meg about Chris. Sorry for Meg/Chris fans. I can't wait until March! :D
Edit: And, oh yeah, I liked the Roxanne getting Luke to cut of his beard thing.
ADfan 01-31-2005, 07:53 PM One of the cops was holding JJ while the other one threw the punches. He really had no choice but to take it.
Storywriter 01-31-2005, 09:28 PM The cops are Schmucks. They find out JJ is fighting for their country. They'll kick themselves in the butt for beating him schmucks.Mel

Why were they beating him? What were Meg and JJ fighting about? I'm so confused, and I only missed one episode!!
tvfan0101 01-31-2005, 10:29 PM Jack, after taking the bribe to buy his vote, voted for the African-American minister, thus angering the police commissioner. The commissioner and the like-minded folks on the board thought they owned Jack, but he proved them wrong.
To show his displeasure with good ole Jack, the commissioner had some of his cronies attack JJ. The message, thus, has been hammered home.
Meg and JJ were fighting about Meg's involvement in anti-war activities.

That helps - thank you!
Trish Marie 01-31-2005, 10:50 PM Well, if you start hitting law enforcement officers, they can and will do anything necessary to stop the assault. Perhaps they will shoot you, justified or not.....
JJ might also have been trained to respect authority and instinct kept him from fighting them. And yeah. it looked like he was being held back by one of them also.
I was thinking that Luke has that Jim Morrison kinda look.Yeah, Luke got it goin on.
Too bad Chris is a "bad apple". He is a cutey, but Meg don't need no Chris Badboy action.
I think that Meg and Sam make a great couple. Emotionally they are right in there.
Keep a weather eye out, mateys. Thar be squalls ahead. Arrrrg.

TrishMeg doesn't need Chris and neither does American Dreams as you see I'm not a fan of the Kid and I think now that Daphanie Zuniga has guest starred on AD alot when the show returns in March and if there's Season 4 she should be added to the cast In my opinion.Mel
ADfan 02-01-2005, 01:18 AM I agree I think she's a good addition. However, as long as she's on AD there is a possibility that Chris will be a reacuring problem in Megs life. I think at some point she'll realize she wants a guy that won't run away from his problems. He is a cutie though, and I admit for awhile I was hoping she could help him fly straight. But apparently not.

So true like the majority of Dramas the troublemakers like Chris never go away for good.Mel
