View Full Version : I hate customer service!
dawsongirl 01-24-2005, 06:54 PM Ugh...I swear my family and I have had nothing but trouble with customer service lately. The garbage company won't give us a new trash cart despite asking for one. Dish Network told us they'd send us a new remote for the one that fell apart. No remote yet.
The worst though...Columbia House. I think the entire company is run by the dumbest people on earth. I didn't get a DVD, so I called and told them. They sent one out to me. Too bad it wasn't even the right show. I send it back. Nothing. I call and ask what's up. Lady tells me they received the return and the correct title should be there in a week. Nothing. Today I get my next installment with a late fee on the other disc...THAT I NEVER GOT. I call again, this time not happy. The lady tells me that disc went out Dec 8th. I tell her it was the wrong one and I sent it back and I'm not paying a late fee on something I never got. When am I going to get this disc? I ask. She tells me again it went out the 8th. Um, DUH. I just told you this. I tell her again. She asks me if there is anything else she could do for me. Apparently she didn't want to do anything about my problem, so I just point blank say, "When am I going to get this disc?" "I can send another one out for you." Gee, really? That might be a novel idea.
Tell your horror stories with customer service.
Janice 01-24-2005, 10:12 PM I've found that rarely does something go off without a hitch. A friend sent us a Christmas gift. We moved last October, and my friend sent it to our old address by mistake. The gift is still floating around. UPS can't find it.
My husband collects coins and got some new 2005 editions last week. Of course, one proof set is missing, so that was a half a morning on the phone with the customer service rep acting as if I was lying. "Yes maam, I'm positive it's not in the box."
My husband changed jobs last fall which resulted in a change of health insurance companies. There was no lapse in insurance. In fact, there was an overlap, yet I've been battling it out over the phone with the old insurance company over an $800 medical bill that they insist we owe. I sent the backup documentation, and they misplaced it. It's driving me insane.
I won't even get into tech support with AOL or Gateway. Talk about a nightmare. :wallbang

I hate that; when you call and act they act like you're lying. Like I'd waste my time calling if I had gotten it.
Ugh...insurance companies. If mine doesn't pay for my visit to the dermotologist, I'm gonna wring their necks.
robyrob 01-24-2005, 11:01 PM you have rob for that stuff

Cathy, did you get that looked at yet? Keep us posted. It's most likely nothing, but you know, better safe than sorry. :)

Not yet. I go in a week. I could have gone tomorrow, but I have to work. But it looks the same as it did 2 days ago, so I'm not as worried.
¤I Love Clay Aiken¤ 01-24-2005, 11:46 PM Janice, did you ever contact the people who own your old house to see if they got it and decided to keep it (those selfish bastidos!)
I know that since moving up here, all of my mail thats still addressed to Danville gets automatically shipped up here.

My mom ordered something...a music box I think one time and it never came, and it never came. We eventually gave up on it. Like 5 years later, we found it. Some delivery dude put it in our side door...which we never used.

We still own it and it's empty, so I can't blame anyone there, but I wish I could. One of my old neighbors probably has it.
SBTB Geek 01-25-2005, 01:15 AM I've had nothing but great experiences with Dish Network, but I agree with you on Columbia House.
TheHappyBurgerMeister 01-25-2005, 02:11 AM Something just last week happened to me. It wasn't the actual "customer service" but a lady checking me out at Michael's crafts. I was checking out at the register and the lady was like in her 40's, maybe. Well, the WHOLE time she was chit chatting or gossiping with her coworker next to her who was an even older lady (in her 60's I guess). The ONLY thing she said to me the whole time was the price of the item. After she gave me the change I was just WAITING for her to say something. Just a "thank you" or "bye", but no she still continued to talk to her coworker!
I REALLY wanted to say something back to her like some snide remark, but of course at the time I couldn'tn think of anything. I just hate being ignored. When you're helping a customer, the customer is the most important and you should NOT be talking to coworkers while you're helping them. GRRRR! AND, the ironic thing was the teens/college aged kids working at the store were REALLY nice and very helpful, yet the older ladies weren't. Usually it's the other way around!
But, I also know what it's like to be on the OTHER side. I had to deal with customers for 2 years when worked at a deli. The really old ladies are definitely the WORST!! So picky!

My mom had trouble with Columbia House when she was part of that record club in the 70s too.

I know what you mean. I used to work in a job that had to deal with customers, and the older women were different. I mean there were 2 extremes. One was really super nice. Obviously the best kind to have. It's the sort that you don't mind helping them to their car. And then there is the ultimate mean ones. There's like no middle whatsoever. I guess my most recent problem was at my school's store. I had to be a textbook and things like that. Anyway the woman didn't say hi or anything. She just told me to put the book down and then she didn't say bye either.
dawsongirl 01-25-2005, 05:18 PM  This dude just came up to me and started bitching that the building I work in is too elaborate and the world should go back to doctors making house calls.
Whatever dude.
Ags2000 01-25-2005, 05:54 PM A few years back my mom bought me a miniature pool set (the ones that go on your desk) from Wal-Mart. It was at Christmas and was one of those gifts that are already gift wrapped for you. :rotflmao: (sorry I still laugh about it to this day.)
Anyway, Christmas morning we are opening presents and I get to the box and start opening it and started laughing. Mom looked up and asked what was so funny. I asked her if I was going to have to open a bunch of boxes to get the whole set or what? She looked at me in confusion so I showed her the box. The only thing in it was the triangle.
So a few days after Christmas I went to Wal-Mart to exchange my triangle for a real gift. My grandmother was bored and decided to go with me. SO we wait in line FOREVER and when we finally get up to the front of the line I tell the lady what happened and that I wanted my money back (my mom had kept the receipt).
The lady informed me that they do not refund money for us losing a few pieces. I told the lady that was how it was when I opened it...just the triangle; no sticks, no balls, and no table...just the triangle. The lady informed me that I must be mistaken because there was something in there. I told her yeah there was...a triangle.
The lady told me to leave the store before she called the cops on me for trying to steal. I was about to burst out laughing but good 'ol grandma came to the rescue. She started blessing this lady out up onesinde and down the other. Man it was great.
The lady tried to calm my grandmother down telling her she was making a scene and that just set her off again. She was going on and on saying that the lady is calling me a liar and a thief and she thinks WE are the ones making a scene?
So of course with all of the commotion going on a manager came over to see what was wrong. It happened to be a friend of mine who had been over at the house when we opened presents and knew what had happened. He asked what was wrong and I told him I was here to get my money back from the invisible pool table. He laughed and asked the customer service lady what the problem was and she informed him that I was lieing and trying to steal because I had taken the stuff out of the box and was just trying to get some money.
He stopped laughing, turned to me and apologized, called another person over to take over that line gave me my money back and took the lady to the back to have a nice long chat to.
Gee guess what.....she doesn't work there anymore.
man I still laugh when I think of my grandmother going after that lady.
