View Full Version : My friend had an abortion today :(
Belair 01-07-2005, 05:52 AM My friend is 17 (2 years younger than me) and today she had an abortion.I had to accompany her to the clinic because the 18 year old boy who got her pregnant didn't want to come, which is really sad, because the two of them were together for 14 months, then she got pregnant and he broke up with her after that.It just really shows the maturity of these young kids who are having sex,and not taking responsibility. While she was having their baby aborted,he was out surfing with his friends. Just had to vent about it.My friend is doing fine, its like she doesn't think its a big deal! I just hope she's learnt a lesson from this.Does anyone think that 17 is stil too young to be sleeping around?
Superstar 01-07-2005, 06:00 AM Thats a shame. I hope your friend will be fine. Her ex-boyfriend is obviously extremely immature.
SBTB Geek 01-07-2005, 11:53 AM Are you the same person who asked us if your friend was a whore?
*MIBabe03* 01-07-2005, 11:54 AM You may want to talk to your friend more and make sure that she sees a therapist or something. She may be fine now, but this could take its toll on her emotionally. I have an aunt who had an abortion, and it kind of messed her up in the head.
Georgia's on my Mind 01-07-2005, 02:06 PM wonderful, murder...but to answer your question...having sex is fine then but not being a slut
MandieR1980 01-07-2005, 02:25 PM Isn't it against the law for someone under 18 to have an abortion without a parents permission? I have strong opinions about abortion which I won't post here.

I'm pretty sure it is. I think abortion should be against the law unless the mother's health depends on it. If you don't want the child, don't have sex. It's very simple.

exactly they have plenty of options for birth control and there are thousands of people who are desperate for a baby and can't have them. The only way I'd have an abortion is if the baby has some severe medical problems and will suffer for the rest of it's life.

What a shame ohno: Having an abortion is a rough deal and your friend is in my prayers; and I think at any age regardless if you are 17 or 97 is stupid for sleeping around, forget about becoming pregnant think about contracting A.I.D.S.. But having an abortion is a Big Deal though she might be indifferent now, it will hit her down the line and it is an emotional burden that she will be carrying for the rest of her life. I recommend that she gets some therpy for this ordeal of having an abortion and having a callous boyfriend :(
EricIdlefan 01-07-2005, 05:05 PM Instead of abortion, she could have given the baby up for adoption.
Hollow 01-07-2005, 06:00 PM k3wl. i wish i was aborted.

No, any girl/woman can have an abortion and it will be completely confidential. The girl's parent have no say regarding the future of the "baby."

It some states you have to have permission from your parents or you have to go in front of a judge. I know this because of a show on HBO called "Lifestories: Families in Crisis" there was a girl who was 17 named Becky Bell (and this is a true story you can look it up)l and she wanted an abortion and she was afraid to tell her parents and they told her she would have to go in front of a judge and that the judge would most likely say no anyways. She ended up having an illegal abortion and dying from a massive infection.

She's not in the states, though, so the law may differ.
I feel sorry for the woman becoming pregnant, but abortion is a sin according
to god, it is the murder of a young life, a life that is precious in gods sight.

Coffeecup 01-07-2005, 09:59 PM Good lord. Was the girl afraid to tell her parents. My mother would have gone with me to the clinic if I indeed didn;t want the child. But I am the type to be married first and in this case would kept the child. I live in the old fashioned method, date, get married, have child. Now kids go, have child, date, get married Well some don't do the last.
*Marilyn Monroe* 01-07-2005, 11:14 PM Oh, wow. I've never known anyone who's actually had an abortion. Did it hurt her? Was she scared? Poor thing!
I know it goes against what I think (which is that abortion is wrong except in the cases of rape and the endangerment of the mom) but it's scary to think that someone my age had one. Getting an abortion has to be the scariest thing ever, and it's really controversial. If people found out, who knows how they'd react.
By the way, what's your definition of "sleeping around"? If she's been with her boyfriend for 14 months...
dawsongirl 01-07-2005, 11:30 PM Does anyone think that 17 is stil too young to be sleeping around?
Yes, but the consequences are ultimately theirs, not mine.

Is that in the bible? Is she going to hell?

Abstinence is all nice, but some men have no willpower against their stupid hormones and some women have no willpower against men. Sad that people can't take no for an answer. Did John Wayne Bobbitt teach nothing??

I think abortion is sad for everyone involved. The mother, the baby. It's just a really picky subject.

thou shalt not abort thy baby, for thoust has chosen to sleep around and shalt suffer the consequences of thy actions.

No i am not,and my friend isn't a whore. The guy she did sleep with was her first boyfriend and she really liked him.

I hope she did learn something, and yes IMO she's too young to be having UNPROTECTED sex, and to be having sex alltogether, but if she's going to have sex, hopefully she'll learn to insist the guy use protection from now on.
Hopefully your friend will get tested for AIDS and sexually transmitted diseases.
Dawsongirl:Is that in the bible? Is she going to hell?
She needs to pray to the lord to forgive her. God forgives us if we pray for
him to.

Ahh, the sarcasm of Sarah.

My beliefs are real, Sarah, and I don't like you making fun of them.

I don't support your decision or agree with your lifestyle, but I'm not gonna push my beliefs on you. I mean, you're going to Hell and might as well die now if you're gonna be gay, but I won't bug you about it. :) :snob:

Oh, so you consider it murder, only if it's a normal baby. It's okay to "murder" an imperfect fetus?
It's not a decision that other people can make for you. Going through a pregnancy at such a young age is something that has to be considered. It was her decision to make, and I hope she's alright. I don't think I could ever have an abortion, but I can respect that it's probably the hardest decision a person could ever make.

Now everyone that's gay is no longer just a "sinner" but they're going to Hell? Wow. Someone better tell my priest
Can we cut the religious judging? Shouldn't it be left up to God anyway?
