View Full Version : Do you think that Geri Reischl bore a striking resemblance to Eve Plumb?

When I first saw the Brady Bunch Variety Hour I thought that Jan was being played by Eve Plumb. Nick at Nite kepy talking about a fake Jan but I really did not take notice until I saw her name in the credits and took real notice. I thought she was an excellent replacement for Jan if it was really necessary to replace her. Leah Aryes("Marcia" :The Brady's) and Jennifer Runyon("Cindy": A Very Brady Christmas") unfortunately did not do the predecesors justice as far as resmblance or similarities goes. Geri Reishel was a good replacement and a pretty good singer. Opinions, Anyone?

Wow -- I really disagree. Not only does Geri Reichl look nothing like Eve Plumb (aside from the blonde hair), but she's a gratingly horrific actress as well.

Here's a link to pictures of Geri from the variety hour, because I'm curious to see if anyone else thinks she looks like Eve.

In the pictures she doesn't totally look like Eve Plumb. Her hair is darker, much like that of "Marcia, Marcia, Marcia!" :D in the later years.

For me she does resemble Eve. Leah Ayers and Jennifer Runyon look nothing like Marcia and Jan. Becky #2 on Roseanne had a few resemblances to Lecy Goranson but their personalities were different.

At the time I thought she looked younger than Cindy, but she was actually about the same age as Eve Plumb.

Fake Jan + ill-conceived premise = Bad show.

And we can't blame Sherwood Schwartz for this one, either. Although he did agree to let Sid & Marty Krofft produce this abomination. I guess they figured it was working for Donny & Marie Osmond, so why not the Bradys?

Geri Reischl looked like a valley girl to me, whereas Eve Plumb looked more earthy.

Well, being a gay little boy, I instinctively knew there was something "off" about Geri's hairstyle.

I mean, it WAS 1976, after all.

No woman or teenaged girl in her right MIND would have been caught DEAD in that earlier 70's, all-one-length, parted-down-the-middle, prairie mother look.

Look at Maureen, even Susan. Both have layered, feathered bobs that were all the rage at the time, continuing well throughout the 80's, until the Big Bleached Perm look and scrunchy hair accessories came along.

It's almost as if they kept or made Geri wear the hairstyle because they thought it would make her look more like Eve.

Didn't work.

I have bumped my topic. LOL. I know there are some people that do not like the fact that fake Jan came on the scene but she did her job and did it well. I love her voice. As someone stated on youtube, she could really "belt out a tune" and to me she was a performer with dancing and all. I didn't like the constant complaining they had her do in the first episode of the show.

I know there are still some that don't agree with the face that I said that she looks like Eve but she does in my opinion. She did the job and if I was someone that did not watch the Brady clan regularly, I would have mistook one for the other like when I was younger. I did not know there was a "fake Jan" untill NAN advertised it.

Funny how there were never any fake Brady boys. They apparently needed the work.

But Geri is THE ORIGINAL Fake Jan!

More specifically, she's the original "fake"! Before there was fake Marcia, fake Cindy and fake Becky, there was "fake Jan", and really fake sounds the most hilarious with Jan. And The Simpsons spoof, featuring Fake Jan bought this whole phenomenon to a new level!

True.

So what does that make Jennifer Elise Cox from The Brady Bunch Movie?

She wouldn't be Fake Jan #2 because technically, that movie was a "remake," although I always saw it as more of a spoof.

Oh, if were going to talk about The Brady Bunch Movie kids, wow, Christine Taylor, I swear sometimes I think I'm seeing the original Marcia! Jennifer Elise Cox was excellent too, but her portrayal was more comical. And, I agree they don't fall in to the "fake" category.

She was also hilarious in one of my all-time favorite movies, The Wedding Singer. :D Speaking of the Brady Bunch Movie actors, Gary Cole was AMAZING. He did the PERFECT parody of Robert Reed's Mike. He was my favorite character in the movies. :D

Yes, and Christine Taylor made 1 guest appearance on Seinfeld, which featured her future father-in-law, Jerry Stiller, though he didn't appear in her episode (The Van Buren Boys).

I think she's a little similar and I really have no problem with replacements. Geri is an excellent singer and not a bad actress, I thought Jennifer Runyon looked like Susan Olsen and Leah Ayres wasn't a bad Marcia, she just didn't look like Maureen McCormick. I always thought Geri, Jennifer and Leah should have been a part of "Brady Bunch" Reunion Specials.

Onto other recasts in other shows, I think Lecy Goranson and Sarah Chalke are fine, but I prefer Sarah.

There's also the recasts on the old primetime show "Dynasty" in which all four Carrington children were re-casted at some point.

And Margaret Michaels replaced Victoria Principal on "Dallas".

Recasts are more common on Dramas, than Sitcoms.
